I have never been more let down by a business than I was let down by Best Life. Run away from this…read morebusiness. Everything seemed really great BEFORE I had tenants, there was lots of open communication, she explained everything. I felt like we were partners. But then as soon as I had people interested in the house, I had NO INFORMATION given to me about any of the financials. I was not privy to their lease agreement, the amount of the deposit, anything. I was also not given any information about when payments would be disbursed until I reached out and asked. This didn't feel like transparency. I was finally given my first payment 12 days after tenants moved into my house. I received a very small fraction of what they paid on move in. This was expected! Expensive, but expected. What was not expected was the re-key fee that Best Life charged me. I left complete sets of keys, there was no need to charge me the rekey. This shouldn't have been a big deal, but I received nothing but defensive communication in response. No apology. She offered to remove the fee but didn't apologize, when I explained why I was frustrated she FIRED ME. That was it. I would have loved for this to be a great experience with no hidden fees--this business advertises pricing transparency--but instead, on my very first disbursement there was a hidden fee. Disappointing to say the least. ALL I NEEDED WAS AN APOLOGY, INSTEAD SHE FIRED ME. I have no idea what will happen to my poor tenants.

The Portland Metro rental…read moremarket is so highly competitive that many property management companies were simply difficult to reach for more information, despite messaging through listings on Zillow, Redfin, etc. Shawni not only handled all the property management company outreach and communication, she served as our proxy for viewing properties remotely (which is a requirement for most rental applications) and always made sure to drive to our favorites to record YouTube videos of the exterior, interior, and neighborhood. Shawni was very patient throughout the process, understood our needs, gently steered us away from neighborhoods that didn't fit our criteria, and served as our advocate when dealing with prickly property management companies. It's worth the money to focus on packing up, rather than searching endlessly on Zillow. We highly recommend Shawni and wouldn't hesitate to hire her again, even for a local move!

Don't waste your time and money. It's unfortunate that this is one of just a few "agencies" in the…read morearea because the service isn't good. Last year, I reached out for assistance and was only provided with a spreadsheet that had dozens and dozens of local properties listed with some highlighted that supposedly met my criteria (a dog, for one). Very few of them met my criteria. Frustrating to say the least, so after a bit of back and forth I realized that this service wouldn't work and ended up finding a place on my own. What to my surprise when I got an invoice for $150. For a spreadsheet and a few email exchanges? NO. So now they have sent me to a collection agency for refusing to pay for services not rendered. Clearly expectations were not set or met. You're better off doing an internet search for free.

Krista is a gem. She…read morehelped us sell two homes this year that had been rentals for the last decade and needed TLC. I needed a realtor who could help spruce up both buildings before putting them on the market. Originally, I thought I'd do it myself, but it is pretty daunting to try to get the attention of ANY subcontractors in this city so I gave up. I decided what I needed was a "full service" realtor who could basically do all the work for me so that we could make as much money as possible off the sale. This is not something any realtor will do, and I wasn't sure I could find it. I had received mailings from Krista and decided to give her a call. Sure enough, she has a magical rolodex of contractors who not only call her back, but do the job QUICKLY. As soon as we signed a contract with Krista, she came up with a game plan to tackle the (considerable) punch lists for the two properties. When she told me her timeline to get the houses on the market, I think I actually laughed. "No way!" I thought. (Obviously I've had terrible luck with contractors.) Well, she continued to amaze me as the weeks ticked by. She began by gathering bids, which she provided for me with her recommendations for who to go with. All the bids were very reasonable. Then she did shopping for lights/fixtures/knobs and in many cases drove them to my house to get approval before having them installed. She has a real designers eye and I soon realized I could depend on her to make good aesthetic and period-appropriate choices. Right around the date she had given, the houses looked amazing. Painted inside and out, new tile work in kitchens and bath, new lights, etc. All the things that really stand out and make someone fall in love with a house. To top it all off, Krista has her OWN staging that is included with her percentage and it is a perfect neutral palette that really breathed life into the homes. They both sold within a couple of weeks. One had a sewer issue that was a real hassle. We didn't get a sewer inspection when we bought it and the new owner found out that the sewer line crossed the neighbors property. Krista had to arrange with the neighbors to get their sewer line replaced so that the new owners could replace theirs BEFORE closing. I barely heard about it because Krista took care of the whole thing. If you are looking for a low stress sale, with an eye to detail and design, with someone who can tell you where (and where not) to put your money to help the sale, Krista is hands down the one. We literally could not have done it without her and I have doubts that many of the realtors in this city could hold a candle to the amount of work she puts in to her sale properties. You can't go wrong!
