Let the Shewchuks down big time. July 24 we visited the show room took sample home. The first week of August , 3 different employees confirmed that our selected flooring was in the building . We expressed the needed to have it installed by August 25. Not a problem they said. August 16 they informed us that the selected flooring had to come from Vancouver and that earliest delivery date would be Sept 15. Left us and our contractor scrambling for flooring. I did not choose to do business with Ashley Fine Floors, I was forced to by the restoration company doing my condo repairs after a flood. I will never return and urge all others to stay clear. Mike, one of their sales reps, took my order, then called a few days later to ask me to re-pick because he could not remember what I had selected. It turned out, it was him covering for the fact that he had not set aside the flooring that had been on sale and then then tried to fake his way out of the mistake. All he had to do was call and say, I am sorry, we ran out of that one and I would have been understanding. Ironically, because they had done other weird things(described below), my mom joked on route "what do you bet that they screwed up and ran out?" we almost lost it when it turned out that was true. Before this, they had provided my insurance company a quote, then revised it after it had been approved and attempted to make me pay the difference after I had made selections based on that info. It was akin to me finding a product with a specific price on a tag at a store, getting to the till and then having it come up at 28% more and then expecting me to pay it, when the price was clearly marked and the proof was available that I had been given a price. Needless to say, I cancelled the order and went elsewhere for the flooring. Unfortunately, the restoration company would not get another company to do the install, so back to Ashley Fine Floors. The installation date arrived and they were supposed to level the flooring in my condo. (concrete floors) Ashley Fine Floors and I had been been back and forth on it, but it was left that they would asses the day of the install to see if the leveling was needed. They did no leveling. Now my new hardwood floors sink at several spots in my living room and hallway. I went in to speak the manager and air out my frustrations with the entire ordeal. "we didn't provide the floors. We just did the install" they said. Despite me offering to pay for the leveling, they are refusing to do anything about it, including evening coming to look. The restoration company when asked about it said that AFF's rep, Mike said it was because I chose not to have leveling done. Their boss now says it was because the flooring I bought elsewhere was warped and that their installers noticed this during the install. The packaging for the material notes that once installed, the flooring is deemed accepted as not having faults. My question is now, which story is true, and if the latter is the truth, why would they not say anything? Note, the store also changed on what happened about the flooring selection in the first place and the new story is that I did not finalize the order, so they let someone else buy it. Basically, they have left me out to dry and are happy doing it. You be the judge. read more

We had a very negative experience with Ashley Fine Floors. Starting with poor project management and a lack of communication, we had a lot of trouble with our installers who were trying to rush the job. The job went 6 times over the original estimated timeline and we're still left with a poor install job and deficiencies that wont be fixed because management and ownership had no customer service whatsoever, but demanded payment in full! read more

On our continued path to completing our renovation the way it should be done, yesterday I found myself needing to buy hardwood nosing for a set of stairs.... The contractor we had worked with (long gone and do not want to see again) had told me that there was enough nosing to complete the last set of stairs...WRONG. We were 12 ft. short, significant to be sure and not a trivial matter when you have to find the right wood, right finish and correct width. On the advice of the person of Home Depot at Westmount Ctr., I went to Nelson Lumber on St. Albert Trail (note to all: it is CLOSED on SAT/SUN) and with that went to Windsor Plywood across the street. Chris at Windsor Plywood was helpful and suggested places on 99th and also Ashley Fine Floors on 111th. I did NOT want to go all the way to 99th and am SO happy that I didn't have to go.... I went in and was greeted by Mike to whom I explained the situation. He took me to the back where their clearance wood flooring is and instead of leaving me there to fend for myself (which has happened in other places for other items I was looking for) he helped me and found one piece that was an EXACT match and another that I felt would work, though it was a bit darker and the width wasn't the same. He indicated that it would work if "shims" were used. With both in hand, I did ask if I could bring the one back if it didn't work since I have learned that in the renovation business, MOST things you buy are NOT RETURNABLE especially if it is wood, tile or the like from the NON Home Depot or Rona Stores.... He quickly said that I could as long as I could bring it back either the same day or call in to find out when he was in so it wouldn't be a problem of "retelling the story" of the nosing. In short, I was in and out within 20 minutes at best :-) The way it should be when you know exactly what you are looking for and there is someone interested in helping you solve a problem that may not seem a big deal to them, but is to you :-) I would like to give Ashley's a 3.5, and when/if you do go in, ask for Mike :-) He is helpful and willing to help problem solve and answer questions even if you haven't bought the product from the store.... read more

I rarely post reviews but I feel that it is important for the public to know about some of the negative experiences my family has had with regards to the poor service we received from Ashley Fine Floors representatives. This store is located at 14340 111 Ave NW, Edmonton. * Many wood boards that arrived were not representative of the wood sample based on pattern and color * We ordered wood three times and each time the wood arrival date was inaccurate, and we waited longer * When I wanted the wood pieces installed in a certain way, I experienced negative resistance from both the sales associate/sales manager/boss and a flooring installer. In addition, the flooring installers speak very little English which made the process of having the wood installed the way we wanted it very difficult. * Too often timely communication was lacking * Safety concerns were not dealt with in a timely fashion making the environment unsafe for our toddler * New wood floor was scratched by the pantry door as the new wood floor was slightly higher than the older floor. * The front door was also cut to prevent the scratching of the wood and they cut both the pantry and front door. It is obvious that the front door cut is uneven. * With regards to the wood scratches caused by the pantry door, attempts from Ashley Fine Floor representatives were made but they lacked experience and the result was unsatisfactory (in January 2020 I hired a professional who fixes scratched floors and the results were great) * During the flooring installation, a kitchen kickboard was damaged and I was told that this would be fixed, but no Ashley Fine Floor representative contacted me to get it replaced * The old wood floor removal to the new wood floor installation (still with the damaged kitchen kickboard, numerous glue marks scattered all over the floor, and wood scratches unsatisfactorily addressed) took from July 2019 to November 2019. To be fair, other condo repairs contributed to wood floor installation delays. * Due to unprofessional communication (my husband at times called it bullying) and addressing concerns in an untimely fashion, I requested that the Condominium Manager no longer allow any Ashley Fine Floors representatives into our unit and to handle all further communication with them * Over the many weeks since November 2019, I have asked other contractors to do work that the Ashley Fine Floors representatives did not address. I have gotten reimbursed from the Condominium corporation for these expenses. * It is currently February 11, 2020 and our new wood floor still has numerous glue stains and even the nanny and personal condo cleaner have commented on how the floor does not look new because of all the glue spots * Ashley Fine Floor representatives had attempted to remove these glue spots unsuccessfully and our Condominium Manager, who is handling this issue, said that Ashley Fine Floors does not have a company to assist with this. read more

Recently did a full house renovation and I utilized many different vendors and contractors. Of all of them, I found Ashley Floors to be the worst of the group that I used. I would avoid purchasing from this company. They sell and install subpar products made by Beaulieu Canada that don't actually have a guarantee (contrary to what both companies claim). I have 3-year old laminate that the top is peeling off of, and after MONTHS of attempting to contact both companies, someone finally responded and declared it to be normal wear-and-tear and damage (yes, both) without even having seen it. I persisted, especially since some of the peeling/cracking was in a closet; how on Earth would someone damage that. Eventually someone came out, and months later I received a "report" that stated that since no one else complained, the laminate was fine. There are other owners in my building with similar issues, so I know that's inaccurate. They said that if I hire a specific flooring inspector (and it has to be the guy they chose!), and he finds that the laminate is faulty, they'll deal with it. Needless to say, that's ridiculous, so I highly recommend avoiding both Ashley Fine Floors and Beaulieu Canada, unless you have nothing but time and money to waste. read more
