Traveling abroad in Ireland has been swell on my first morning. There aren't many spots to eat at…read more12pm around Glendalough. I'm so glad I found this cozy, warm, earth-toned restaurant. The dark wood table tops and cast iron bases just make me feel grounded. One of the hosts asked if I had a reservation, and I was almost sad because I didn't expect it. She was kind enough to seat me anyway. I don't know her name, but she was lovely, golden hair, and bright green glasses! I was served by Avinash, who had a warm demeanor. My phone was about 20% and he kindly let me charge it; hence why I do not have any photos of the meal :) at the end of the meal, when I asked for an espresso, Avi came back with my phone as well-- a nice touch of remembrance. I had the slow cooked lamb leg, with potatoes, carrots, and rosemary stuffing with a balsamic mint sauce. It was divine. It was my first meal of the day, and I savored every last bite. The atmosphere was just what I needed. 5/5 would return. And did yall know they got first editions of Bam Stoker, Oscar Wilde, and James Joyce??? Sheeesh.

This was a sizable restaurant with an large outdoor seating area. Inside was nicely decorated and busy. I ordered the Seafood chowder that was thick, hot and with nice spice. After two mouthfuls the Corned Beef Rueben came out which made for a difficult decision to eat what first. The corned beef Rueben was ok, not as good as The Temple bar, too dry and a far 10th to my own juicy corned beef. While waiting for the check, I headed to the head to wash up and upon arrival back, my remaining beer was gone and table cleared as they thought I left. I Paid the bill and on my way. Place seems like a great place To hang outside during warmer weather although it seemed the staff was short handed.

I arrived to the Rathdrum Train Station and unfortunately all the taxi company's were tied up working a wedding In the area. I called the Meetings Bed&Breakfast to see if they could organize a cab for me. About ten minutes later a car pulls up. To my surprise and amazement it was the owner of the Meetings Bed&Breakfast Derek. He helped me with my bags and drove me to his establishment. Upon arriving he helped me again with my bags and showed me to my room. Derek also showed me around his establishment. I was made feel very Welcome! I ended up having a few pints at the Meetings Pub. Derek and his Family all run the B&B, The pub and store on the premises. They are all True Professionals and very cool in my book. They take so much pride in their business and genuinely care about their guests. My room was so modern, very clean. My room had a great flat screen TV. You have a great selection of TV Channels due to it being hooked up to a satellite dish. My bed was so comfortable also. The next morning I had breakfast! Honestly the breakfast is probably one of the best Traditional Irish Breakfast's I have had in many years. The coffee and orange juice tasted great. Absolutely no complaints from me! The Meetings Bed and Breakfast rates Five Stars and more! It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over Thirty Years and traveled all over the world with the United States Marines all over the world. I definitely know a great Bed&Breakfast from all my travels and life experiences. Lastly the views from the Bed&Breakfast are absolutely amazing! You literally get to see we're the rivers meet up! The Meetings Pub & Breakfast is A must visit in County Wicklow, Ireland!

This did not happen once, but on three separate occasions - very bad first impression overall. Alcohol on tap was nice, but some beer in bottles not stored in a cooler, and so first bottle I received was completely flat. Food was extremely expensive, however, it was delicious. My partner had the venison and he absolutely loved it. Cannot fault the chef for the high standard of food or the waitress who served us food. There seemed to be a huge disparity between the professionalism seen in the restaurant area - waiters neatly dressed and food received exemplary - and the bar - not all waiters wearing a uniform and poor service. Even though the food was lovely, I would not dine here again or recommend it to others based on poor service and over priced menu.

I was here for a corporate event and didn't have to pay for the experience but I didn't leave wowed by the experience. The appetizer was ricotta cheese, followed by a sherbet then the main course of beef. They did serve a dessert that was excellent that night. The menu changes from day to day so who knows what you may get. While the service was good the overall experience was slow. We started eating at 7:45 PM and didn't leave until almost 11. The next night given the option of eating here again or at the bar I went for the quick and simple option.

The Décor is a little odd - very dark with velvet covered walls, marbled effect carpet, many candles and a shiny 70s-esque ceiling, not sure what they were going for but the overall effect is, as I say, odd! The wine list is good - actually very good but pricewise not for the faint hearted, we started with 2 glasses of a really exceptional New Zealand Sauv Blanc before moving on to a very respectable Australian Shiraz (can't remember the names but there were not many that fit the description!) I started with a chicken dish, followed by an excellent broth and mains was a slow roasted pork dish. All of it tasty but sweet jeebus, a HUGE meal.... you will only dine here once during your stay (unless you are there for a month!!) We fairly rolled out of the place, fit for nothing but bed; a worthwhile experience, definitely to be tried once!
