Returned my call when I asked for a quote! Only company that did the same day. Quoted 249.00 guess what it was $249.00. Took everything apart (first time a sweep has done this) cleaned from down below and brought a ladder and cleaned from up above. Pretty normal pretty standard but then explained what he had done and showed us how he put it back together in case we wanted to clean in between professional visits. Changed out my spark arrester and wrote up the cleaning and inspection. Oh and he was early and called before showing up. Nick, the Owner was one of the few who returned my call the same day I made the calls. I was in need of a chimney sweep at a family vacation rental. The home was inspected and noted there was a great amount of soot buildup. I needed the work to be done sooner than later since I had rentals coming in. Nick responded quickly to my call, came the next day and gave the promised advance notice, then put in considerable time and effort to figure out why our fireplace insert wouldn't maintain a fire. Though chimney cleaning apparently is Nick's main line of work, he figured out (via online installation manual) that the previous owners had overloaded the firebox with insulating firebricks, then built a test fire and stayed until we were satisfied that the problem was solved. If you would like to employ the services of a professional - DO NOT call Tony or Roberta. They are the most unprofessional fire place contractors we have ever had the opportunity to work with. They were no-shows, then late, then didn't follow through and complete the job. Once we finally got them out to finish the job, they butchered the whole thing! Ruined the roof and blamed others for the mess they are not taking responsibility for. They are rude and don't return phone calls or emails. When I tried to get them to come out to clean out chimney last year, they didn't return my call for 3 weeks! Then when they returned the call, they said they weren't doing chimney sweeping anymore! Then when they installed a fireplace for us, they failed to complete the final step which would have been a disaster, but we discovered it after the roof was placed, then they complained about having to come and finish the job! They will not take any responsibility for their actions. So frustrating to deal with people who are obviously not interested in helping the customer. read more

Nick came by this morning; I was his second stop, and his stop before mine ran late. He called ahead to let me know that he was behind schedule--very courteous of him. It seems that most guys would just show up whenever, but he took the time to give me a heads up. Service was fast and clean, Nick was very friendly and helpful. I hadn't had my chimney inspected since I bought the house 5 years ago, and hadn't had a fire in the fireplace for about 2 1/2 years. After inspection, he made a few recommendations for service, but was not pushy in any way. He noted that there were a few cracks in the chimney, but only recommended service on the ones that needed it--he could have said that everything needed to be fixed and I probably would have believed him. Instead, he was honest about what needed fixing and what didn't. Couldn't ask for better, would recommend to anyone who asks. I found Ashes to Ashes on Yelp, and they turned out to be one of the only companies with an opening soon, and, happily, they also had one of the best prices I found. We had some communication issues at first but got an appointment scheduled within two weeks of my initial contact. Nick came out to clean our chimney today and did a great job. He was very conscientious about keeping my house clean--he wore shoe covers, laid down a drop cloth in front of the fire place, and taped the doors shut with painters tape before going on the roof to clean the chimney. He called and left a message when he was on his way, arrived 15 minutes into the one hour window we agreed on, and was done and gone in about 45 minutes. He charged me exactly what he originally quoted, explained what he did, and told me everything with my chimney was in great shape.
