That level of honesty is pretty rare. They could easily have kept the work in-house or added a layer of profit, but instead they focused on what was best for me as the customer. They also followed up several times by email to make sure everything was going smoothly and that I was happy with the outcome. They gave us a sliding scale depending on labor for specific jobs. When they invoiced us, they included receipts for parts... this is something that we rarely see but it creates a sense of trust and honesty. There are no surprises. Our first job was a lesser, more simple, job-we had at few sockets replaced one of which was a very loose socket that we were concerned about arcing. The second job was more extensive as there were several "needs" in one day. They replaced overhead light fixtures (3 of them), replaced an old and VERY outdated (probably from when our house was built over 35 years ago!) smoke/fire alarm, and installed bedside wall mounted lights. They are GORGEOUS!! On their third visit soon, we will have heated flooring in our master bedroom installed. B. Henry's Quality Electric is the place to go for your electrical needs. The team is nothing but helpful, and professional. They are community oriented and are always there to help when you have an electrical need. He recommended we call an Electrician. I didn't know any so I headed for Yelp. I contacted two with good reviews and they discovered a scary arcing issue in the breaker box. We ended up hiring Ongaro & Sons and felt calmer the minute I called. Jeanne in the office was so professional and helpful. She set up a site visit right away. When Corbin arrived, his confidence, his abilities, and knowledge were impressive. He understood exactly what the cause was and the solution. Unfortunately, the remedy was a replacement panel $$$. We agreed. He knew about a recent change in PG&E's "Green Book" that would allow our panel to be installed in the original footprint but he explained that the new system would need to be grounded to water and gas. He immediately contacted PG&E and Town of Windsor to start permits and scheduling. Chad and Alex showed up on Monday morning at 7:30, ready to go. They professionally prepared the site for PG&E to turn off the power and then they got to work on removing all of the breakers and installing the new set of Eaton breakers. They used the crawl space under the house to run the grounding wiring and the work was completed by early afternoon. They left the site clean and did an excellent job of making a new wood frame for the panel. Alex showed us everything that he had done and it was an awesome sight to see after multiple days of worrying about the arcing issue turning into something very serious. Thank you Ongaro! So I do my research and am VERY selective in who I hire when our house needs work. My wife and I hired Andy Fernandes and Adval and they proved to be the real deal. Andy was *always* prompt - every time he or anyone from his company was scheduled to arrive they arrived early. Andy and his crew were communicative, clearly very knowledgeable, and straightforward, which is to say that they told me *and showed me* what was really happening and not what they wanted to promise or what they thought we wanted to hear. And they followed through exactly as they said they would. The quality of their work was outstanding. We had a few kitchen cabinets that had gotten damaged by the 2014 Napa quake and were looking like they were going to fall off the wall. Andy sent over a master carpenter (he spent years building stuff for moneyed people on Martha's Vineyard, who can be quite demanding) who didn't "upsell" us by telling us one of the cabinets needed to be rebuilt (the build cabinet in their own shop), he showed us in detail exactly what the problem was and convinced skeptical me that a new cabinet built from real plywood instead of the particle board of the cabinets the flipper who sold us the house had installed was the way to go. They reused the facing from the old cabinets, so the match was immaculate. Price-wise, yeah, they weren't the cheapest I could have found, but they were most definitely not close to the high end, they were right in the ballpark, and I figure if I demand quality I have to be wiling to pay for it. And we most decidedly got what we paid for. I repeat again that I am VERY picky about contractors, but I unhesitatingly give Adval Construction my highest recommendation. Our job was pretty small, but I would hire them for a big job in a heartbeat. This is the way construction contracting is supposed to work.
