We wanted to upgrade our wood-burning fireplace to gas. We had never done this before, so were really relying on Fireplace Transformations to guide us. Bob arrived and gave a quote -- it was A LOT, but we went ahead and proceeded based on the other good reviews. Bob recommended a mantel company called Mantels Direct, which we went under the assumption that Fireplace Transformations had established relationships with dealers and knew what they were doing. Unfortunately, despite being over $2200, the mantel was a really cheap composite wood with visible lines across the seams both on the wood and the marble. After complaining about this, Fireplace Transformations said this wasn't their problem, despite the fact that they were the ones who had recommended the company. The fireplace and mantel installation itself was not very good. Not only did it look sloppy, but Bob never came by to check on the work or make sure we were happy with it. They completely cut us loose after it was installed. Any complaints were met with defensiveness and redirection. But don't take my word for it. Pictures are worth 1000 words. This is the FINISHED product, mind you. If you're looking to overpay at a one-stop shop for mediocre quality and sloppy installation, then Fireplace Transformations will happily oblige. read more

We recently needed to replace our very old gas fireplace. Bob and Kathy were amazing to work with to install our new fireplace. We moved it to a different part of the room and they assisted in the ceiling repair due to chimney removal, extension of gas line and setting up the new fireplace fully. Their on site team was friendly, polite, thorough and detail oriented. Kathy and Bob were great communicators guiding us through everything we needed for install day. Highly recommend their company and service! read more

The two oversize used brick fireplaces were almost a deal-breaker when we found this old, neglected house. We had no idea what, if anything, could be done about them: they were as solid as they were hideous. Bob's easy-going, can-do demeanor went a long way toward putting our minds at ease even before the first brick was carted away. Kathy kept us informed with timely, personable emails. Alex and Ernesto are skilled, prompt, neat and kind: they can problem-solve on their feet. Bob has a trove of experience. Our old brick wood burning fireplaces were an aesthetic affront; our new tiled Regency gas inserts are practical and stunning. If you need a Fireplace Transformation, give them a call. No drama, just great work by lovely people. And it costs less than you imagine! read more

They provided great service, their crew was very professional crew. Great job on our fireplace redo.

My initial experience with Fireplace Transformations was similar to many others here on Yelp -- I wanted to replace an old brick wood-burning corner fireplace with a gas insert, and remove most of the brick surround and replace it with tile. I say "most" of the brick because I just wasn't sure exactly how I wanted the thing to look. Bob came, talked it over with me, gave an estimate, then I worked with Cathy, via email, whenever I had any questions. She was always very courteous and prompt in getting back to me, and their workers were always timely, polite, and very neat. They did a terrific job. It wasn't their fault that a few months later, I realized my mistake in not having all of the brick removed(!), so when I called to see if they could remove the remaining brick as well, they did, and for a very reasonable price. In the meantime, the workers (Alex and I'm sorry I forgot the other man's name) did such a nice job on the tile, I asked if they could do a bathroom tile job for me. That's when I found out how many other types of work FT does. They did a beautiful job adding a shower around an old bathtub, letting me keep the antiquated look of my old bathroom but neatening everything up with new fixtures and working with me to add some fun decorative touches to the tile. I'm so pleased with both my fireplace and bathroom overhauls, and now that I know FT does much more than just fireplace work, I'm plotting my next renovation project for them to work on. read more

I live in a one-room schoolhouse built in 1885 that was converted into a residence in the 1970's. There were unique challenges to an installation of a new fireplace unit on this job. The flue of the wood burning fireplace had corroded. For safety reasons, the fireplace was unusable. Bob was instrumental in helping choose a replacement fireplace unit, installing new flue sleeves, installing the electrical components, and a new mantel. The job was done well. That was two years ago. Since then, whenever I have had a question, concern, or problem, I have experienced continued support. The original competent installers are still working for this company to date. On a job of this nature, continued care and support are critical and for this reason, I highly recommend Fireplace Transformations. read more

We had an old ugly brick fireplace that didn't draw in our kitchen and wanted to replace it with a Danish wood burning stove. It was a complete remodel. Bob and Cathy were very communicative and clear about the process and what could be done. The two men who came over and did the job were polite, clean and very hard workers. Overall, it was an excellent job and they did come back quickly when we noticed the flue was crooked and that there were a few scratches. So, the reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that Bob told me that the stove I wanted couldn't be installed. I had read the installation notes and knew that it could be but I had to insist I was correct and then he realized his mistake and correctly said it could be done. So, if I hadn't known and read the installation manual I would not have my stove. To me that took away 1 star. However, if you are installing a gas fireplace, I am sure these guys would be great at it. Also, pricing seemed fair based on competing bids. read more

After several years, I finally decided to revamp our unused out-of-date corner L-shaped brick fireplace. I searched websites for remodeling ideas and then for a contractor that might specialize in fireplace remodeling. The only contractor that I could find was Fireplace Transformations -- and I'm so glad! Bob, the owner, came out to assess my old fireplace and let me know the services he could provide -- you pick out and pay for the products/material you need; Bob provides the pick-up, installation and plumbing (if required)! Bob and his crew are knowledgeable, efficient, clean, perfectionists -- and all so very nice!. Great job! Can't wait to try out our new gas fireplace come winter! read more

I could not stand my brick fireplace and needed to upgrade my old fireplace with a gas insert to cut costs on my heating bill. Bob came and gave me so many ideas/options about transformating my fireplace, hearth and mantle areas to createa beautiful addition to my living room at a reasonable cost. His company is professional, courteous, clean, efficient and altogether amazing! I just cannnot believe how beautiful it is and economical it is on my heating bill. I should have done this remodel sooner. I recommend this company for any fireplace work needed in any type of home project. read more

In the past year, I have called this company three times to request an estimate for a wood mantle for our brick fireplace. Each time, I've left a clear message with my name and number and have never received a call back. read more

This is a very nice pair of companies with Fireplace Transformations & Patches in a Day. Bob, Kathy and their crews are honorable, efficient and focused on customer service. They were also among cleanest crews I've had in my house (and I've had many). All my communications with them - start to finish - have been refreshingly straightforward (no games or attitude), and I highly value that. An issue caused by the manufacturer was handled quickly and graciously, and they met any special requests that I had without question (I had just cleaned my ducts so they were super careful of my HVAC system, and I requested special cables which Bob promptly purchased). I will happily hire them again. read more

Dishonest company. We were given an in-person quote for an install. We waited a week and never heard back from the company, only to have to call them ourselves and were told it would cost THREE TIMES the quote that had originally been given. My business is going to be taken elsewhere. read more
