I've dabbled with a fair few barbers in Belfast but I've never really found the place for me, that…read moreis until now! Being a ginger as soon as my hair gets over a certain length it starts to glow and become a ginger fro so I need to keep it trimmed and until now I haven't had a barber who did such a good job in sheering it down as James at Skinny Isaac's. Before I get in to the cut itself, I must mention the decor and set up at SI's. The place oozes suave sophistication. The black and white tiled floor is a throwback to old school barber shops yet the wall murals and ornamental guitars create a modern feel. They've clearly taken a look back at everything that was good about traditional barbering and added the new modern modern twists to improve their craft. There's an airy feel to the second floor premises, sun light bathes the studio creating a really nice environment to relax in. One thing to note is that you'll have to make an appointment at SI's. They will be booked up mist days so make sure you call first thing to see if you can get a slot. They are also open Monday's (during Queens term time) which is a bonus. A haircut will set you back £16 - an absolute bargain once you experience the attention to detail each barber puts in to their work. All in all a five star service and a top notch hair cut. I won't be going anywhere else in the future!

I didn't call to book my time so had to wait (only) 15-20 minutes and got a very good haircut. Really happy! Kevin did a great job and was very friendly and communicative. Also, the atmosphere there is very chilling with rap beats on. Recommend! - Remis

Cranium is a small gents barbers situated on the Stranmillis Road in South Belfast. It is attached…read moreto a Womens hair salon and the staff swap and change between the two stores. This has its advantages. Whilst some barbers might be quite restricted in their talents which might only stretch to using an electric razor, the staff at cranium are fully trained to cater to both men and women.. In terms of price it can be pretty expensive if all your looking for is a trim, with a standard hair cut costing £11. However, there is a 25% discount for students which is a fantastic incentive for the large student community around the area. Personally, I'm not totally blown away by the services they provide. On one occasion when I'd forgotten my student card, paying £11 for a quick trim was comparable to giving away a kidney for a packet of crisps (slight over-exaggeration...).

The staff are friendly and will speak to you as long as you want. They have such a large customer base, including students who can benefit from a student discount at £8 a hair cut. You also get a loyalty card which gives you a free haircut after your 10th one. The place is fresh and stylish. The music is up-to-date and the experience, though short was very pleasant and I will definately be back.
