Apart from asking what i was wanting done and asking Ok at the end she didnt speak so my time was spent looking at my own reflection in silence for 40 minutes. The cut looked fuller on one side which ive now discovered is due to the layers being longer on one side and a fringe just the right length to poke me in the eyes! Such a disappointment.

The staff are lovely, really helpful with great ideas for alternative cuts and styles. It is a bit pricey but that's what you expect for a cut in the city and a unique cut at that. However, a word of warning if you like your long locks be sure you don't let the hair stylists get scissor happy as you may be pining by the end of you visit.

The salon offers a simple walk in policy and apparently a 15 minute wait is pretty much the maximum that it ever takes. The selection is simple...there are 3 options competitively priced...cut, cut and blow-dry, cut colour and blow-dry. So no confusion there. After a minute of explaining what I wanted, I was asked to take a seat and then brought over to the main cutting area. It's a long, bright room done out with gilt wallpaper which was a bit disconcerting at first. The hairdresser was attentive and cut the hair as requested, even going a bit shorter at the back when I asked. They didn't have a price for this particular cut as it's a mostly female clientele but as it only took a few minutes they only charged me £6. As reasonable as any barber I've been to. Pros: No booking necessary. Friendly staff. Cons: Mainly for female customers.

I had the misfortune of visiting this place recently, dont get me wrong the staff are for the most part lovely its the owner thats the problem. He is rude and obnoxious and when i came back to the salon next day after my cut and colour to have a small correction to the colour he became defensive and rude. Thing is he would rather risk the reputation of his salon than just fix the simple problem. I opted to visit a salon nearby that specialise in colour correction, they could see the problem instantly and like i mentioned they agreed it wouldnt take much to fix it. They were also mystified as to why the owner of original salon was so unhelpful when there is so much competition these days for business. This guy needs to listen and not talk so much, he clearly doesnt know how to represent his own salon. Tut tut! After reading this he will realise he has done the salon no favours. Silly man.

For the past year I have been…read moregetting my hair cut up in Belfast by the top art director/stylist up there, Caroline, and it costs the same as getting your hair cut by some regular hairdresser in Dublin!how does that make sense? It doesn't but I am going to take advantage of this until it lasts anyway! And for 2009 I have had the most beauoootiful hair! They do eyebrow threading service is fairly new too, well its new as of this year anyway, so of course i get that done just after i get my hair cut. I recently got a text to say that they are now doing botox, think i might leave that bit out but if your into that i reckon it will be fairly cheap up there! Have to compliment the guy behind the reception too, from the very first time i talked to him on the phone to make an appointment to the last time he waved me goodbye he has been just the nicest hairdresser reception person ever! ya know some hairdressers that make you feel inferior somehow? well there is not a hint of this in toni and guy on the lisburn road,they are all super nice :-)

Luckily in Belfast, you can get the same type of service for a lot cheaper. The Toni and Guy Training academy is made up of trainee hairdressers who have just completed their NVQs in the trade and then progressed onto the Toni&Guy Diploma which includes six weeks of intensive training on all Toni&Guy methods and techniques at their international Academies. The haircuts are alright and good enough value, but I still think you could do better.

They never let you leave without your hair looking on point. Parking can be quite difficult during the day as its busy with students parking close to Queens. The training nights start 5.45pm and I can always find a close space. There are many qualified people in here's. They have been part of numerous Loreal colour competitions. Members of the team train regularly with big named stylists in the uk. The venue is clean,bright and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They weren't going to ruin your hair, but they weren't going to get it perfect or do something creative with it. Inside, the salon is very modern and very long. I remember being left waiting for about 40 minutes as I was a mere five minutes late. This was a bit of a pain! The sinks are pretty comfortable and the facilitates are great, so no complaints there. My hairdresser was really grumpy though. I didn't want to be her best friend but for Chrissakes a bit of small talk wouldn't go amiss. I also had to explain to her over and over again how to cut my hair as she wasn't getting me at all. Everytime I asked her to redo a bit she looked disgruntled.
