Puckered ruching because alterations should have been done at side seams not with darts

"Adios Muchacha" I have waited one year to post this review for the purpose of warning others who intend to shop here for their prom dresses. BUYER BEWARE Drove from Mt Pleasant in February 2024 to take my daughter shopping for her first prom dress. Staff was initially helpful. My issue is not with the sales staff but with management and the owner, Tracy. The dress my daughter chose required alterations and we were encouraged to use Ash & T's recommended "in-house" seamstress, Sharon. The dress was purchased 2/11/24 for a prom date of 4/20. After reaching out multiple times, we were finally given a pick up date of 4/9/24. They had the dress for TWO full months. Plenty of time to take in the waist and hemline. We picked up the dress and I immediately noticed the train had been completely removed!! Not at ALL the length that it had been pinned on the date of purchase. The hemline was also uneven and bunched. I thought that perhaps it needed to be steamed and did not want to upset my daughter. Two days later I had my daughter try on the dress again and realized how horrible the alterations were: egregious errors on every point! A train that could not be re-attached! It looked like a blind person had done the alterations! I immediately called the store on 4/12 and spoke with a manager who was not helpful. The store owner, Tracy, texted me only after I threatened to leave a bad review. At first Tracy seemed interested in resolving the issue. I was asked to bring the dress back to Summerville. First, I decided to have my personal seamstress look at the dress. She confirmed that the alterations were inexcusable. My seamstress said she could repair the dress, with the obvious exception of re-attaching the missing train. The alterations were so poorly done. I cannot emphasize this enough. The waist should have been taken in at the sides but they instead chose to quickly add 2 darts- one was 3 inches from the side seam and the other was one inch from the side seam. Completely uneven and stitched as if a toddler had done it on a toy sewing machine. Ridiculous! PLEASE refer to the images provided to see how bad this job was. After initially texting with Tracy on 4/12 I called her on 4/13. This is now 7 days before my daughter's prom. There was never an offer to order a new dress or replace the dress with another. Tracy was not helpful and had zero remorse or empathy. She was unapologetic and condescending. She told me and I quote "God decided that this was your day". My day for what? To receive horrific customer service? To pay more than the suggested retail price listed on the manufacturer's website? To pay an exorbitant amount for bad alterations? To have a $400 dress ruined? To have my daughter be without a prom dress mere DAYS before her prom? What a joke. Tracy refused to accept any responsibility for the bad alterations and denied that Sharon worked for her. Even though Sharon was pitched as their "in-house" seamstress and worked in THEIR building. Tracy chastised ME for allowing my seamstress to rework the dress instead of allowing Sharon the opportunity to fix the dress. When I finally lost my patience and told Tracy that there was no f*ing way I would trust Sharon to repair the dress, Tracy then very professionally told me "adios muchacha". And hung up on me. In short: go somewhere else ! Go ANYWHERE else! The owners do not care about your experience, customer service, or the amount of money you spend. I would never support this business, subject my daughter to their rudeness, or give them a thin dime ever again. If I could give them negative stars... I would. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read other reviews. There are constant negative reviews of them treating customers poorly. This is not a rare occurrence . It is the norm. Spend your money anywhere else. Adios, Tracy. Also worth noting 1. My seamstress charged me $50 to completely repair all of Sharon's botched mistakes . Sharon had charged me $100 (to ruin a $400 dress). Not only poor service but wildly expensive 2. Don't ever pay retail for a dress here. The sales girls are constantly going in the back to consult managers and negotiate lower prices on the dresses.

Caity R.

I have bought my entire pageant wardrobe for Miss South Carolina from Ash and T's. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. If you want a gorgeous dress come here!

There were five of us making decisions, all also remote from each other. Not an easy assignment but Karen was enthusiastic and encouraging all along the way. When we finally got to Mt Pleasant to sign papers and make final fabric/rug choices, Karen and Emily were so well organized that we finished in record time with no drama. The store is beautiful with a HUGE showroom floor and many sales. You can't go wrong with this store of Karen. We will be back to buy more after we move into our new home.

That was, until a Black Friday ad showed up on our TV and my hub called out, "Hon, come look at this chair." "Yeah, it could work," I casually replied. I had a plan. First thing, Small Business Saturday, I stopped into J&K Furnishings in the Belle Hall Shopping Center (Long Point Road) as soon as it opened. I was approached immediately by Karen who took me over to the advertised chair. She was knowledgeable and patient, even knowing that there would be no sale. I was there just to check out the chair. Yes, it was comfortable, genuine buttery leather, priced well and was exactly what I wanted. I told Karen that I'd be back the next day with my husband. We returned on Sunday and worked with Ryan who also was patient and low key. He closed the sale. We both appreciated that he did not try to upsell a higher priced chair or other items. We actually asked for a protection plan. Delivery was set and confirmed with an automated phone call. The drivers called as they were on the way. The chair is perfect ... even our our fur son approves! The entire experience was easy. If you're looking to feather your nest, or freshen up tired decor, be sure to check out J&K. I know you'll be satisfied.

Here's why: I am a witness to the fact they put NEW price tags on all their furniture, grossly inflating the prices then marking them down 30%. A sofa that was $699 a month ago has a new price of $1099 minus 30% is....you got it, $699. The customer thinks they're getting a deal. What they're really getting is the original sales price which is to say, there is no sale, only deception. I got to admit, having lived across the US, I used to love Dean and Deluca (not sure if Summerville…read morehad one and if they still exist). The place had an upscale vibe to it with better than your grocery store type of food offerings and products. World Market kind of, sort of, not really but sort of fills a little of that void. It also has a certain Bed Bath and Beyond feel, geez anyone else these once great pillars of our shopping experience are gone? Anyways, World Market has a lot inventory and items for the home chef, as well as some Hoby Lobby type enthusiast. This particular store is in a safe part of town with plenty of parking and is very clean. Walking in, I mentioned all the other examples that seem to have an influence on this retailer. So, if any of them fit your liking, well this is the place for you! The reason I was in the store is to get some rare pasta shapes. Quick aside, I love different pasta shapes b/c they literally taste different b/c how they hit the pallet. Don't believe me? As a former chef, tell me macaroni and spaghetti taste the same, they don't! Anyways I was purchasing some principesse pasta (think fettuccini with the lasagna frills on the side, splendid). It's cut with a bronze dye which means it gives a rough texture, perfect for holding sauces and gripping the tongue rather than sliding off. I also picked up some German egg noodles (mini-lasagna) which look like pappardelle with ruffles. Besides online, this is the only local store that carries the shapes. Ok pasta course is over. They have a wide selection of interesting chips, wines, coffees, Asian drinks and ramen noodles, specialty candies and more things that I don't have time to discuss. In other words, this place offers products that you've probably never consider, which really will enhance your life. If you're there, steer clear of the Lindl gourmet truffles unless you have a deal with the belt b/c they're so darn good. I highly advise taking a moment to scan their spices and oils section as well. My only draw back is I wish they had a refrigerated section. While there, they have an interesting kitchen utensils section as well as creative dinnerware, not like those huge cheap places which have no character but only corporate uniformity. I rather liked a lot of their dishes and could envision myself with my pinky up eating crumpets and sipping noon tea! Now they have some furniture and stuff but to be perfectly honest I had no interest in their offerings so I can't speak to quality, price or selection, but it's there if you want to take a looksie. Finally, they are holiday influences so lets say it's Christmas time, they'll have a good amount of space dedicated to things like reefs, lights, ornaments, you name it. I think it's refreshing to have options out there to offset the mainstream. As far as prices, they're a little higher with good reason, it's not the normally created stuff. But at least the option is out there. To wrap up, the employees are nice and ring you up quickly while joyfully answering questions. They have an inventory of items unlike many other places making it a unique shopping experience. Furthermore, it's clean and safe which provides for a laid-back shopping experience. Drop on by, but avoid the upscale candy isle, your hips will thank me!
