Because he was supposedly close to death, the whole family wanted to be bedside during the process...talking with him, touching him, some aroma therapy and music would have been nice...we wanted to tell him all the things that are comforting in the transition. We were not allowed to be there all together. You have to take turns....and at night, only one person is allowed to be bedside The rules do not allow for a comforting death surrounded by your family. When I wanted to rub his feet I was rudely asked "do you need help?", as if I wasn't allowed to touch his feet. We weren't allowed to talk in the living room in the night either, though we were grieving and trying to comfort each other. It is as if they have no idea what hospice is really about. I have experienced very good hospice care, where the nurses guide the family through a meaningful and comforting transition and the whole family can be together. I wouldn't take my worst enemy to Hinds to die. I will say that there was a kind volunteer, and a nice nurse, but the head nurse was snippy and she robbed our family and our loved one of a peaceful comfortable passing. That is a horrible fact that I will have to live with.

My mother receives excellent care in her own home. Oyuna has been a blessing for our family-they offer peace of mind, as I know I can call them anytime (and I have) when I have a concern about my mother. Thank you Oyuna staff and may God bless each and every one of you for your kindness, compassion, patience, and great service you provide to all you serve. I would recommend this company over any other (have dealt with others) to anyone who needs this type of service.

They supplied us with everything we needed and it all came on same day when asked for. They provided a hospital bed, oxygen tanks and machine, adult diapers, pads, wipes, Ensure and all the medications. Our comfort care provider Alexandra ( Alex ) was outstanding, she came by 3 times a week to bath, shave, change sheets, pads and diapers. Her advise we really appreciated. The good thing about Oyuna is that when you call for help you get a experienced Nurse that answers not an answering service. We had bad experiences in the past with 2 other hospice services that weren't there when we needed them so we were hesitant to try it again. I'm glad we found Oyuna Hospice, they totally restored our faith back in Hospice care. Thank you, Oyuna Hospice.

After more than a decade working in hospice and palliative care throughout Fresno and the…read moresurrounding counties, I've had the opportunity to see this community grow from having only a handful of hospice providers to now having more than 50. During that time, I've worked alongside and interacted with many different organizations, giving me a unique perspective on what truly separates an exceptional hospice from an average one. The best hospice organizations share several qualities. They educate patients and families honestly about hospice philosophy and eligibility. They employ people who genuinely love the work they do and who believe in the mission of the organization they serve. They recognize that every patient and family has unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and they tailor care accordingly rather than treating people like numbers. Most importantly, they remain humble enough to listen when concerns arise, learn from feedback, and continually improve. For me, Ardent Hospice embodies those qualities. The experience and compassion of the clinical team truly stands out at Ardent. The nurses, aides, social worker, chaplain, and yes even the volunteers possess deep expertise in end-of-life care, staying current with evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and the ever-changing standards governing hospice care. But, what ultimately makes Ardent different isn't simply clinical excellence--it's the culture. Every patient is approached as an individual. Care decisions are based on best practices, sound clinical judgment, and the individualized goals of the patient and family. There is a genuine understanding that healthcare is, above all else, an opportunity to serve others with dignity, compassion, and respect. This community is fortunate to have options. I can say without the slightest reservation, however, that choosing Ardent Hospice is a decision you can make with confidence. The mission of providing life-changing service isn't just a slogan--it's reflected in the way each and every person cares for patients and supports its families each and every day.

I am sure they all participated in the lie to keep from getting sued. The person who told us about their services , Christina who works for them initially told us my dad would be able to continue seeing all his doctors and if he went on dialysis Medicare would continue to pay for his hospice services. When we asked which resident she was visiting, she would reply bluntly with "a patient," and has to be asked multiple times before giving the name. Her expressions and overall demeanor is cold and give the impression that she's bothered by having to speak with staff. She has also stood staring rudely at staff who were on the phone with a family member until someone stopped what they were doing to assist her. Her attitude is unprofessional, especially for someone working in hospice as a social worker where respectful communication is important. I hope St. Mary's addresses this and encourages her to interact with staff and her patients with more courtesy.
