It is fantastic knowing that you can take your vehicle to a mechanic and know that you will not be steered incorrectly! I have been coming to Hoover Automotive for several years, and what keeps me returning are that fair prices on parts/labor, the rapport that Thomas builds with his customers, the time-efficient/quality mechanics, the courteous updates given throughout each servicing, & the level of professionalism that all companies should keep in mind when winning over customers' loyalty! Keep up the outstanding work!

Each and every…read moremechanic, including the owner and the Service Manager, excels at knowledge, service, honesty, and expertise when it comes to repair work, custom work, and customer communications. The respect and kindness they show is equaled by the "Can-Do" trust they command. I was lucky enough to find them about 4 years ago, and I won't have my truck worked on by anyone else. They have all the professional assets my Dealer had, yet the non-corporate attitude. You can reason with them, explain details and expect them to really listen (and understand). They are serious about the business and it shows. Often I will wait for my vehicle while maintenance or repairs are being done and I have a first-hand view of how they handle customers, delivery personnel, difficult situations, etc. Every customer seems like they must be a good friend or a family member. That's how I felt from the beginning and I see now that it's not I am not really that special - it's the team who is special. These guys are responsible. Questions or follow-up concerns are addressed immediately - They will give you their attention and they will make sure you drive away as a completely satisfied customer. There is no doubt you will be very impressed. You get more than what you pay for here.

Steve and the guys at Transmission Hero are terrific! He…read moresaved me big $$! I took my 2018 Chevy Silverado there to get a transmission fluid service done because I had the "Chevy Shakes", and I wanted to see if that would help. There were codes on my code-reader that didn't make any sense, along with the "Random Misfires" code. I was fully expecting the verdict would wind up being that I'd need a new 6L80 transmission (or engine problems). But Steve's integrity came out right away. Steve said we should not do a fluid change until we first do diagnostics and see the whole picture. He's a talker... and very dogmatic, so be patient and listen to him... he definitely has tons of experience in this. He explained to me that many Chevy/GMC 5.3L V-8 engines have Active Fuel Management (AFM), and that the AFM programming in the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the over-complicated programming in the Transmission ECM (TECM) can cause the Torque Converter to lock & unlock too much; there's too much "noise". The shifting from V-8 to 4-cylinder (and back), changing speeds, braking, all cause constant Torque Converter "chatter", and I could definitely feel it. It was shakin' & shuddering! So they first ran diagnostics, and very importantly, live diagnostics while driving it so they could see the converter chattering, engine misfires, live data, etc. He told me there's likely "nothing wrong with your transmission", but we need to quiet the noise. He proposed an AFM Delete. Not the cheap little thing you get on Amazon, mind you (those don't work well), he was able to re-flash the ECM & TECM to remove the AFM programming, improve the transmission function, and also we went with new plugs, coils, and wires; BAM! No more shimmy, shimmy, cocoa-pop! NO codes on the OBD-II Scanner/Code reader! Now I have one smooth running pick'em up truck with an engine that's a full-time V-8, not dropping cylinders due to AFM. And... not sure why, but over the 2 weeks since we got this great resolution, it's getting better fuel mileage too! What I thought was going to be a very expensive problem, Transmission Hero got me out the door for a fraction of the expected costs. Thanks Steve.

I have done business with this company since it was a business,..back when they were located on Blanding closer to 103rd Street up by Paint Pros...if. not mistaken that was their shop location, however this goes back to 2013-2014... The Actual owner was doing the work then with helpers or other mechanics... I brought my car to them based on a referral from a friend...saying they were New and Honest and did Good Work at a Reasonable Price Point....THE HOLY GRAIL in DUVAL it seems...so I did...and they did..and I established rapport with the owner as I promised I would do my work solely with him if he met those expectations given from the referral....I ended up moving to the Southside and lost touch...when I looked for them again they were gone...they moved....Fast Forward maybe 10 years I still have the same Car and I was in need of some repair as I had not found another "HOLY GRAIL" type shop since...so I just thought...I KNOW I USED TO HAVE A GOOD A MECHANIC....I just couldn't remember the name...so I just began typing Auto repair and Automotive into my contacts to see what popped up...then the SCHUTTER name pops up...I am like Ohhh Ish!!! That's them!!! Thinking ahhh I am saved no more BS Mechanics saying they can do X Y Z work but in actuality are full of it...So when it starts there are a few repairs done with some exceeding $1000 in price...and a few of the prices I felt were kinda exorbitant...however not too outlandish and these WERE my "Guys" you know...I THOUGHT...hey even if they charge me a little more...I am going to get SUPER QUALITY...OEM Parts...Good Word for that Money........Uhhhhhh I DON'T THINK SO..... So there were a few things that I should have but never went to War about...my Wipers stopped working Totally...anybody that Lives here knows you can't have that...so I requested them to fix them...and over $400+ later I get my car...the wipers work .. however the intermittent setting is something out of a bad movie...they do what TF they want to do, however this Company sent my car out like that and charged me...I didn't say anything that time as my main concern of having wipers was addressed,..however I was not very impressed by the work...ok the next outing..my vehicle was towed to them by some guys I know that Own a Towing Company...can't remember the actual work done however it was definitely several hundred dollars...they call me and say hey car is ready...ok great...I get there and there is some weird A indention near the bottom of the door on the passenger side....and for the 1st time my car is staged to parked after repair outside right next to a FNG Dumpster...from what I guess that was to conceal the indentation...I asked and they immediately blamed it on the Tow Truck Drivers.. without hesitation... I let it go as the work was done the indentation is not big time visible and again been working with these guys for years...Ok final thing which brings me to the reason for this review....you can see pictures and video on Social Media...I have a very slow leak from my Transmission Oil Cooler Line...I now have a Neighborhood Mechanic who does smaller jobs for me....he and I looked at and located the leaking culprit a d it was the Lower Cooler Line....he was swamped at the time and needed to truly diagnose the issue before working on it, but was 1000% certain the leak was very slow and it originated from that Cooler Line. He couldn't do the work so I decided to take it to my "Big Dawg Mechanic" the ones I knew or THOUGHT I KNEW could do Big Work. I say and explained in VIVID DETAIL to the intake guy while outside Hood Up looking at the issue. Oh BTW on the way there my Power Window mysteriously went out...so let's kill 2 birds with one stone...I asked for that to be fixed as well and I have had this done at other places...but hey I am here let's fix it...ALL THEY NEEDED TO DO WAS TIGHTEN THE COOLER LINE....THAT IS ALL...They fixed NOTHING actually loosened it more than when I brought it... ***************UPDATE********************** So after KYLE one of the owner's now or runs the books, stated to me "We'll give you the $140 back, just don't ever come back, what's the Card Number the charge was made on?" I waited 3-5 Business Days quietly no other talks except what I had posted initially, as I figured I was done with them and them with me.... but Oh No,.. as it would have it THEY WELCHED ON THEIR WORD............ Wooooooow unbelievable right??? SMH

You can post this on Google, Yelp, or with your insurance company. I selected College Automotive to repair my truck following an accident, and unfortunately my experience has been extremely disappointing. The shop billed my insurance company for repairs that were either not completed properly or not completed at all. Specifically, the rack and pinion was billed as replaced, yet after experiencing continued issues, I sought three alignments and two independent second opinions, all of which confirmed that the rack and pinion was not functioning properly and may not have been replaced. Since the repair, my truck has been returned to College Automotive three separate times due to ongoing problems, including a knocking noise when turning left. The rack and pinion installed was a remanufactured part that should be under warranty, yet the shop has refused to honor the warranty or take responsibility for the faulty repair. Additionally, I was told the shop had communicated with my insurance company regarding these issues, which later proved to be untrue. I trusted this business with a major repair and relied on their honesty and workmanship. Unfortunately, the lack of accountability, refusal to warranty a clearly defective part, and misrepresentation of communication with my insurer make it impossible for me to recommend this shop.

After…read morerenting a trailer to transport my car, investing my time, and paying for a U-Haul to deliver it, I was asked to leave the vehicle at the shop. All I wanted was to have a new transmission installed, or possibly have the current one rebuilt. The staff refused to provide an estimate and stated that in order to do so, they would need to charge $214 to open the transmission. I already know the transmission is slipping and that the only reasonable options are to rebuild it or install a new one. Despite this, I never received an estimate. It seems that unless you pay $214 upfront, they will not disclose any pricing information. It should be simple -- I want a new transmission. Why open the faulty one first? This experience has been extremely frustrating. Such practices might mislead someone unfamiliar with vehicles, but I know cars, and I find this approach unacceptable.

The manager Hamlet is a disrespectful asshole who needs to go back to his country and try learning how to deal with customers and take responsibility for not fixing customers vehicles correctly and in a timely manner. 4-6 weeks of holding on to a customer vehicle is unheard of by any auto repair standards, and instead of apologizing you are made to feel as if you are in the wrong for being upset about them holding on to your vehicle for 4-6 weeks. Don't even think about contacting corporate to make any complaints because they are even worse as they give you a nasty attitude and make it so that their franchise owners are absolutely in the right. I am a consumer and I have the power to spend my money anywhere I want and it will not be with the shitty company.
