I need food to face the tax! Couldn't find a Costa anywhere close so out of desperation I saw the Morrisons and stopped in to eat at their cafe. Far from fancy but quite amazing how much hot food they serve for £4.80!! That and a pot of tea (£1.20) ordered electronically and brought to my table. Fresh flowers, cards and newspapers are the first to catch your eye, leading you to the well-stocked aisles packed with produce from fresh and vegetables, to a variety of fresh meats and fish. Their famous meal deals are also prevalent, as are the dairy and fresh food. Most of them M&S branded goods, but some well known high street brands are also starting to invade the shelves, which adds choice. The variety of pasta, bread, tinned goods, frozen food, confectionery, fresh bread/rolls etc. are equally impressive. Staff are friendly and helpful, and there is never too much of a queue. The price would prevent you doing an entire family shop here, but its a great place to come for a treat, where you know the quality of the food is high.

This has happened to me several times, even when I've gone in the early afternoon. The fish counter is excellent, and the staff are happy to give advice about how to cook and serve your fish. There is also a very good deli counter, and a fresh bakery. Although this store doesn't sell any clothes at all, they do have some jewellery stands near to the pharmacy, and a very small entertainment section at the front of the shop where you can sometimes find a bargain cd, dvd, book or game. The staff at the tills are quick and efficient, and I don't usually have to wait for too long to be served.

The store itself is bright, airy and well laid out offering the usual Sainbury's fare food and drink wise. There isn't much in the way of clothes etc nor homewares but there again, as I mentioned before there's the Homebase next door. They have a number of special sections including organic, bakery, cheese etc. They carry a very good gluten/wheat free section. There's nearly always enough tills in action so I've rarely had to queue. The customer toilets are well maintained (situated off the corridor that joins the supermarket and Homebase.) A seperate J cafe is next to the supermarket. Being seperate it doesn't get the shop noise and they'd blare in music so its a nice quiet spot for a cuppa before you tackle the weekly shop.

This store is run by a bunch of arrogant Chinese folk that like to look down on everybody. They usually bitch about the last customer who just left the store. They also assume that I don't understand or speak Cantonese... like, whatever. Just because I choose not to speak it, does not mean I can't. A few members of my family shop here, but I give it a wide berth. The people are rude and they're expensive. I'm not paying a decent amount for out-of-date items! I'd rather drive out of town to get my Chinese groceries!

Tesco Mickleover is one of their Superstores (rather than the larger format Extra)…read more Whilst it doesn't carry a wider range of goods it does have an excellent selection of items including Tesco's F&F clothing range. The store can be extremely busy (especially before and after school and at weekends) but there's ample parking which is free for up to two hours. If you struggle with accessibility then there's a lift in the underground car park with step free access into the store and the aisles are easy to navigate. This store doesn't have a coffee shop but the bakery provides delicious breads and plenty of tasty snacks (doughnuts, cookies) and is well worth a visit. Further the store also provides contactless payments (up to £30) which is ideal if you use something like Apple or Android Pay. The staff are really friendly and will go out of their way to help you.

It was a good job I had my receipt because I was asked at the till if I wanted It. He said he stopped me because I walked out of one of the aisle. This is true, after I had paid for my shopping I then looked at some magazines on the rack near the exit. This was an experience which did not sit well with me and I shall not be shopping there again. My suggestion to Tesco at Mickleover is to always give the customer their receipt, and once the shopping has been paid for to then leave the shop.

I asked him why he was doing this, and was absolutely amazed by his reply, which was "These bottles are normally sold in packs, and if we have odd ones left over, we cannot sell them because they have no bar code on them". If these were "bottles left over" how have the other bottles in the pack been "sold"? It was not just a few bottles being disposed, it would possibly make the local sewer rats very happy.
