I hardly ever see things I don't like in this shop and they even have an old fashioned haberdashery department. Staff are all lovely. cafe is a bit of a let down but is no worse that one you'd find in debenhams.

BB Muffins is ok for a coffee and a snack, but that's about it. The recession has hit this centre hard, as can be seen from the number of pound shops and empty units. I hope that there is a brighter future for this centre, but it will need a small miracle for that to happen.

McDonalds has closed (moved outside the centre), the Co-op department store is gone and Safeways has been away even longer. Scottish Power closing was the end of appliances in the centre as well. There's still some stores worth going for. Dunnes, MacKays and Dorothy Perkins, as well as Peacocks and a couple of cheaper stores mean there's a surprisingly good range of women's clothes. The Boots could be bigger but is adequately stocks. The Co-op supermarket at the top is an OK grocery store and there's a decent Woolworths.

The only thing worth visiting is TK Maxx which occasionally gets some reasonable brands in such as Moschino or Michael Kors but nothing like the Edinburgh or Newcastle store which gets Versace and Balenciaga. The place has plenty pop up stores selling Christmas decorations, candy or calendars which soon disappear once the season has passed. It also has an odd, old, musty smell to the place and is home to one of the worst car parks in the world. Parking costs around £5 and i can only describe the place as a ghost town. Most shops are shut down or just junk shops. Even McDonald's shut down as there was no custom. Save your money and drive to Edinburgh or Glasgow. Also home to Fifes worst gym. Its small and the whole place just looks dirty. There is really no reason for anyone to go to Kirkcaldy.

It has a greggs bakery and a subway roll shop so no need to go hungry, it also has a smoothie bar for the healthier amongst us. As well as being a shopping centre the mercat is also home to Kirkcaldy`s swimming pool. there is a cafe in the swimming pool which is open to the general public as well as the pool users. The mercat has a bit of everything going on and as a photographer I often just take a seat somewhere inside to watch the world go by and catch an interesting image or two. It has a multi story car park too so no worrying about parking, Parking rates are reasonable!

If designer labels are your thing then Manifesto is the place to shop. As everyone knows designer fashion is already expensive but being the only store in the are stocking it, Manifesto is even more expensive. They stock a wide range of both womans and mens designer clothing and shoes. The staff are always very helpful if pushed but rarely offer any assistance without being asked and they dont always seem the happiest nor friendliest bunch. If you do not mind paying a bit more to shop local rather than visit the big cities designer outlets then this shop a good alternative to having to travel!
