EMPLOYERS AND BUSINESSES BEWARE! Ascent has a very low ethics level. They will not provide you with the right candidate for your business. They would rather hire someone who they can leech money from. They recently contacted a friend of mine for a contracting position. He was a very good fit for the job description and they chose him as a candidate for the interview process. He was able to finish the last stage of the 3-stage interview process with the company, and the hiring manager was very excited to hire him on board. It was a 100% certain he would be able to land the job as the feedback, face to face, was very positive. He didn't hear back from the recruiter for a week. When he did receive a call, the recruiter wanted to change the confirmed compensation rate to a number much much lower than was originally agreed upon. They would give him the offer letter, if he agreed upon the lower rate. CANDIDATES BEWARE, don't turn down other opportunities for positions offered by Ascent, they pull you in with false compensation packages and once you land the job, they try to change the rate to fit their needs. BUSINESSES, please don't lower your company's valuable business ethics by partnering or working with this talent agency. You can do much better by working with a talent agency who cares about your future employees. Very disappointed in this business. read more

Ascent really is a step above the rest in the world of Recruiting. They have a dedicated persons for every step of the process as far as well recruiting, being on-boarded and even after you start working at the client site you still have a dedicated employee working with you and checking in on your project. While the recruiting / staffing industry is full of companies falsifying resumes and lying about degrees to get you to jobs, Ascent is dedicated to having high quality people in high quality positions. Also many staffing companies are based out of different countries with thick accents pressuring you to sign contracts and pay fees - Ascent is bay area company with local REAL LIVE PEOPLE that does not charge any sort of placement fee to applicants. Again, extremely rare for the industry. Also everyone is there is really friendly and outgoing- it's high energy kind of company to work with. I could see how if your a less than desirable candidate, or someone who is used to the lying, and falsifying of resumes this place would NOT be for you. However if you're looking for a good position, with a great company and really friendly awesome people to help get you there than look no further. I can honestly say because of the Ascent Services Group I was able to get my dream job, in my dream location in the field I was looking for. I'm not sure it gets any better than that. read more

Small agency with unprofessional engagement manager. This agency charges its contractors for disbursing their last check by imposing a fee of $115 for wire transfer. This agency lacks transparency in accounting practices and does not show not any fairness towards their temporary workers. Asking why my last check was short of $115? The engagement manager said to check in ADP plus their own bank fee of wire transfer is deducted from my pay as well as my own bank charging me $15 for wire transfer. While this agency has extorted $130 out of my pay no one seems to be accountable. Thieves would be a nice accolade for what they did during Covid19 pandemic to their own temp worker as if they were reimbursing a rental deposit. Their clients should aware but they didn't care less for their contractor. Sharks!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE HOODLUMS. read more

I don't know how it used to be but seem the company's taken turn for the worse. The communication is simply not there. I had an inkling of this during the signup process which was a nightmare as one person didn't know what the other person was doing. The paperwork was disorganized and the online execution is sloppy (unlike other recruiting co's). I was even asked to video call in and hold up my passport next to my face so they can take a picture... really?! In all my years I've NEVER had to go through any such goofy protocols. After about six months I recently ended my assignment with them, but never got a final pay stub. It seems they simply ignore you once you're no longer making them money. I think it's terrible way of doing business, bordering to unlawful in my case. You're owed a final pay stub promptly by law. But so far - nothing - and it's been almost a month since my last workday. Just about everybody I've dealt with there (sans one incredibly bright and energetic person for whom I wonder, why she's still working for such a dolt company) is mindlessly robotic in their job execution. The original recruiter who got me the job left the company almost immediately after I started the assignment. Perhaps maybe she sensed the downward slope this company seems to be on? I'd been unemployed for over 2 years when I applied for a position advertised by Ascent Services Group. The recruiter called me almost instantly and it only got better. They follow up with emails and everyone I spoke with was very professional and considerate. I asked questions about what to wear, what was expected by the hiring manager, resume formatting, cover letter style, and so much more. The recruiter was very helpful every step of the way. In fact, I was hired immediately after leaving the interview. I think the preparation phase was the key to my success. They are horrible, provide no support and are a very "clickish" environment. They terminate employees with no notice or a PIP being provided to an employee. Beware before accepting a job offer from them. And don't go to HC for help as she will go to your supervisor and tell what you have complained about. Very sad read more

Not sure if the other reviewers on here are paid shills or what, but as a job seeker I can say this company has been nothing but trouble. Money, time, and resources wasted. Misrepresentations and unfulfilled promises. All focus on the client, too little protection or advocacy for the candidate. I feel the company has strong leadership, I like how I work with a bright and talented team.  Something I notice is the care and effort for their contract/temporary employees. They aggressively contacted me and convinced me to fly out to interview for a temp position at Genentech, promising me that they would reimburse me for the travel. Before the interview they were very communicative and aggressive, but after the interview they were incredibly hard to get in touch with. I never heard back from them or the interviewers at Genentech about whether or not I got the job, and they told me that they couldn't give me my reimbursement due to some budgeting issues or policies. All they care about is collecting their commission and they will leave any job seekers out to dry without batting an eye. read more
