My husband and I had a great time exploring Thanh's farm. It was so serene! We were able to try different types of mangos, papayas, tamarind, Jamaican cherries, avocados, a couple of his vegetables and even these really spicy chilis called Aji Charapita! We bought some fruits to take back to our hotel. While all the fruits were DELICIOUS we really enjoyed the papayas! His papayas were just spectacular & out of this world, so juicy and sweet!!! WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!! I definitely recommend visiting him and his farm. Make sure you call/ text him ahead of time!

My family and I had a wonderful experience learning about the local fruit from Thanh. We purchased coconut that he cut open for us right then and there. We also got papaya, mango, abiu, and sugar apple. He helped us pick the most ripe ones so we could enjoy it that day. Can't wait to come back another time to enjoy different harvest.

My family had a wonderful time at Thanh's farm. Highly recommend if you want to tropical fruits picking experience. We thought we could not get in the farm because we didn't call before we arrived but Thanh still let us in even though the farm closed, so appreciate Thanh!! Walking around Thanh's farm makes me feel like I'm home (Vietnam), many trees associated with my childhood

This farm is hidden gem, (literally, call before you visit). Walking around the farm makes you feel like you're in another country and not in vacation focused Oahu. Most of all it brought me back home with the amazing Star Fruit, which leads to the 5 Star rating

Hands down some of the freshest fruit I've ever had!!! Thanh was very welcoming and his farm is beautiful. I texted him to ask for a fruit bowl since my mom wanted to try some fresh papaya. It doesn't get anymore fresh than this! We got to explore the farm and see all the fruit trees. Thank you Thanh for the best experience!

The owner is very generous and easygoing. There's 5 acres of tropical goodness. Great service and some of the best fruits I have tried on the island. Worth the visit and please make sure you call and make a reservation before you take the trip. Bring cash to purchase fresh picked fruit. Support local.

Wow wow wow. Wish I could rate a zillion. Thanh's farm is so unique and special. Every fruit tree is handled with so much love & tenderness that they all bear the most delicious organic yummy fruits. We have gotten fruit plants, and sampled & were able to purchase fruits we have never heard of. So exotic & tropical. Where else do you get to basically pick your own fruit with the farmer?? I am originally from Michigan and grew up going to apple picking farms. This is like that, but 10x better. It's so personal and heart warming. A trip to Thanh's farm is more than a fruit haul. It's an experience like no other. I am so grateful to live on Oahu and have this be my fruit trips. From mama earth to tummy.

Ascension Bar farm is such a hidden gem! Thanh was very generous in offering his time to show us around and offering us his delicious tropical fruits. We're very grateful to have visited the farm. The fruits have a unique taste, texture, fragrance and very sweet of excellent quality! If you're looking for a tropical fruit farm I highly recommended Ascension Bar! Looking forward to visit again soon. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience!

The decorations were cute and festive, and the staff we interacted with were all friendly and welcoming. It was definitely crowded and a bit overwhelming, so we only stayed for about an hour. It was also really hot, which made it tough for both us and our dog. We walked around, grabbed some food, checked out the sunflowers and pumpkin patch, and then stopped by the farmers market store before heading out. The store service was quick, but one moment stood out. A young boy was trying his best to help us and do the math for our items when another staff member suddenly took over and told him, "You're going to the side. You're way too slow." It felt a little uncomfortable to witness, since the boy was clearly trying his best. I understand things can get busy, but it just didn't feel right to scold him in front of customers. Despite that, the festival itself was fun, the food and produce were great, and it's always nice to see local families and pets enjoying the day. We'll probably go again, maybe earlier in the morning next time when it's less crowded and cooler.

Odd, as nothing really needed to be "cooked" very long. I noticed immediately that a majority of the tables were disgusting and there are flies buzzing around. In any case, I still decided to order my food as "dine in." I did some shopping while I was waiting, and of course, while I was standing in line (almost 20 minutes later) my beeper went off. You cannot silence it, so I ended up abandoning my place in one of the three cash register lines. Since there are only 3 lines, they do not move quickly. This is prime time on a Saturday, mind you. I went to turn in the beeper and get my soup. The soup comes in a flaming box with a bowl shaped opening with feet, where the stainless seet bowl sits. Now, I get that the flaming box is meant to keep your soup hot... However, WE ARE IN HAWAII. The ambient temperature isn't going to cool down the soup dramatically. IN FACT, I HAVE BEEN SITTING HERE WAITING FOR THE FLAME TO GO OUT, BECAUSE MY SOUP IS TOO HOT TO EAT. Additionally, because the bowl sits on feet, the beef bones weight keeps spilling the soup off one end. The soup is delicious, but this is the stupidest execution and presentation of something meant to be delicious and simple. Also, if the bowl is too hot to hold and drink from... soup spoons would be awesome. ‍

Very easy to find, off the freeway heading north on Kunia Rd and it will be on the next stoplight past Walmart, making a left on Anonui Street. You can't miss it because there's a huge sign and banners on the corner it is located on. There is plenty of parking attended by a couple of friendly parking attendants directing your way. There is a covered area with several picnic tables near the entrance as well as 2 porta potties. The market itself is not very big and housed in one small but long building. There are a few vendors on the porch area selling flavored water, baked goods, honey, and other goodies. Upon entering the building, the majority of produce will be to your right. To the far left is the checkout area. They accept bankcard and cash. Most of the items are packaged with signs and prices by each type of produce. The display of produce is neatly laid out and well-stocked. They even provide rolling shopping baskets for your convenience. Today they were having a 4th of July special on their sweet corn - buy 4 bags, get 1 free. The table was packed full when I arrived & in less than a half hour, it was empty. I was fortunate to grab a bag. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other farmer's markets. They were also selling Waialua cage-free jumbo eggs, 1 dzn for $6 and also Kauai shrimp in 2 sizes. Cashiers were very friendly and personable. Even though there was a line, both cashiers worked fast and efficiently. It was actually unbearably cold that I had to leave after sometime because I was getting so uncomfortable, it hurt. Watching our kids feed the goats was one of those simple moments they'll probably remember for a long time. It's also about as clean as you could reasonably expect for a working goat farm. Yes, it smells like goats, that comes with the territory. If you're expecting a sterile petting zoo, this isn't it. It's a real farm and I actually appreciated that. Where the experience lost me was the hospitality. Maybe we arrived too close to closing, but the staff felt completely disengaged. Nobody was particularly welcoming, nobody seemed excited to talk about the farm or its products and asking simple questions felt like an inconvenience. You drive all the way out here because you're interested in what they're building. A little warmth would go a long way. The other issue was the flies. Again, I understand this is a farm. Flies are part of the environment. But when they're landing around food while ice cream is being scooped, it starts to cross from "that's farm life" into something that feels unpleasant. It was hard not to notice and it definitely took away from the experience. The goat milk ice cream was good, not quite my preference over traditional dairy ice cream, but still worth trying if you're visiting. Feeding the goats was fun, the grounds are beautiful and it's a fantastic stop for families with toddlers. I just wish the customer experience matched the scenery. This place has everything it needs to be unforgettable. A little more hospitality and a little more attention around the food service area would make a huge difference. I'd still recommend visiting but come for the farm, the photos and the goats. Just keep your expectations for the service a little lower.
