I hesitated about posting a review because I don't want to give my secret away, but Asahi, hands down, has the best sushi and sashimi in town! Everything, including toro, yellow tail, and tuna, are super fresh and high quality. The appetizers are so delicious, I love the tuna dumpling and the tuna pizza! The Valentine roll and the naruto roll are great too! I have been coming here for over a year regularly, 5 stars all around. The staff is so friendly and the food is always fresh. COME THIRSTY: The service was excellent as they excelled in ensuring we never went thirsty. My H2O glass never had the opportunity to see the bottom of the cup as our waitress made sure we were always filled up. Went here for dinner last night with friends. The food overall is mediocre. But what really gave this a one star was we had a 30% off coupon for each of the couples and there were six couples who we went with. They would only let us use one of the 30% off coupons for the whole group. If we would have come all separately each one of us would have gotten our own Bill and used a 30% off coupon. But the real kicker was they told us if we didn't like it we could leave instead of accommodating us somehow, very poor customer service with mediocre food. read more

Went for Hibachi tonight. Hibachi comes with soup, salad, entree with fried rice, noodles, veggies, and ice cream dessert. Great service! BYOB....however the website says they have full bar service. Chef put on a nice entertaining show. Discount coupons are in the website too! Great! I am only awarding 4 stars because they use margarine, not butter. 2 distinctively different flavors and no health benefit. Yuck. Will go for sushi next time...stay tuned. read more

I ordered hibachi take out the other night from here and it was pretty awful. The rice and noodles were bland, the filet mignon was put in the same container as the shrimp and the salmon so it tasted like salt water and fish, and the shrimp and salmon were both over cooked. I only ate a few bites of the steak and seafood because the taste of it made me nervous and, sure enough, a few hours later I was sick to my stomach. My boyfriend got sushi which he said was good but I wouldn't order hibachi here again. Very disappointed that we spent over $65 for mediocre food. read more

Asahi used to be a nice sushi place with good portions. Just ordered a dragon roll and paid $13 for six undersized pieces. Very disappointing. I hope this was a mistake. One more chance to see....... I don't like to write a review on places I haven't been to more than once, but this was kinda disappointing, enough to where I'm not to sure I want to come back. Basically, my friends and I ordered a bunch of special rolls for take out. I went to pick it up, and it was dead inside. Ok, that happens, no big deal. The server was very sweet. Went home, excitedly began to tear into our sushi. One roll was supposed to have eel in it; No eel to be found (Or the mango for that matter)! Another roll supposed to have apple in it; We couldn't find it (Man, the apple was the selling point on that one!). Another roll said it had spicy kimchi sauce... Again, we picked it apart, looking for these mysterious ingredients. :( Also, the fish was sliced paper, paper thin... I have a feeling it wasn't for presentation. The other rolls were eh... okay. At least they had all their parts, but the taste was nothing to run to mom about. I mean, inevitably kitchens run out of ingredients. But at least let your customer know, especially if you have their number. These guys boast some pretty interesting rolls here, so that's why we picked it. It just totally disappointed us, to the point of turing us off to going there again. read more

I love Asahi! Their sushi is delicious and their fish is top quality. They have an amazing weekday special for 3 rolls and a soup or salad for $11. So cheap considering their quality! Their hibachi is alright. My only complaint is that many times I will order for pick up and show up at the estimated time they tell me and my food wont be read for a while. Been eating here for years now. I do think it is the most reasonably priced, freshest sushi around. They have some great lunch specials and the sushi tastes fantastic. So happy we went here. It was a little on the quiet side, but it's the offseason so what isn't. Food was delicious, we started with a crab salad and got the naughty girl roll and the beach roll with a sashimi regular for our main course. The fish was delicious and the sashimi had beautiful cuts, the salmon was beyond flavorful. The wait staff was friendly, not overbearing and did a great job. Sushi was good but unfortunately the environment was lacking due to a faulty heating system. We were freezing. They did take steps to correct the heating unit. Great find! First time patron and was pleasantly surprised how nice and accommodating the staff were. The chef gave us a nice hibachi presentation and the food was also delicious. Sushi is good but I tried to use a coupon advertised on their website by showing it on my phone and was told it needed to be printed. In this day and age who prints coupons??? They refused to give me just 5 dollars off my 38.00 purchase. I should have let them keep their sushi. For future takeout orders I will drive to Legends which is priced the same and better quality. I'm a little surprised to see negative reviews of this place. I have not eaten in the actual restaurant since I always have it delivered via Grubhub, so I can't say anything about the service as I haven't eaten inside. But the sushi is very good! I've had several rolls from here and liked all of them and thought that they were all very fresh. Delivery is pretty fast and has always been accurate with the exception of once where they forgot my soup (but it was mdw so I'll give them a pass, I'm sure it was very busy). My family and I have been coming here for years as we vacation on the shore every summer. We were excited to go back last week but were very dissapointed and will not be going back. I ordered smoked salmon sushi for myself and my son and they brought me salmon. I brought it to the waitresses attention who went back to tbe sushi chef and she came back and informed me that this is how they make their smoked salmon. I calmy told her I knew the difference between smoked and regular but she still disputed me. Rather than have it continue I told her I didn't want it and returned it back. There was a huge language barrier here. The next minut she came out again apologizing stating I was correct that it was the chefs fault. The customer is always rigbt, especially when she's RIGHT!
