Food was phenomenal. Menu has a great mix, sure to please anyone. Half of the restaurant is used for storage and they have a built in bar and ample wine storage but it's defunct and you're invited to BYOB. I'm not sure of the history but happy to report that we were blown away with delicious house salad, balanced sushi and uniquely grilled and lightly fried general tso's. Cannot say enough FANTASTIC things about this place. To start, we got the ginger salad to share and it was the best I've ever had, loved how it had more than just lettuce and included mango, peppers, cucumber, etc. and the dressing was 10/10. Also ordered a seaweed salad which was super yummy. If we couldn't get enough, also ordered spring rolls which were delicious and fried wonderfully. The miso soup was so delicious too, perfectly spiced and had lots of tofu. Then for the entree I ordered the rainbow roll, and it tasted so fresh! The BEST part was the teriyaki tofu. Death row meal. Lightly fried and spiced to perfection. Finally, the service was great and our waiter Cameron was super attentive and nice to offer suggestions on what to order. Can't wait to come again!! read more

I can't say enough good things about Asahi. Can't believe I've driven by it hundreds of times and am just now realizing what a great hidden gem it is. Everything we had (dumplings, soup, chicken skewers, rock shrimp tempura and vegetable fried rice) consisted of fresh, flavorful, quality ingredients. A hidden gem - that's what this is! Everything ordered was delicious! We started with edamame and a house salad with ginger dressing (the best dressing!) and followed it with a tempura shrimp sushi roll. No doubt about it being the best tempura shrimp roll we've ever had! The main courses were General Tso chicken and Beef Yaki Udon were outstanding. Tonight was my third time dining at Asahi and I will be returning! It is never crowded which must mean not enough people know about this hidden gem. The food is always delicious and the staff is great. One of the chefs has come out to personally check on our meals and offer fresh, in-house pickled vegetables each time I've dined there. Chatting with her is so nice. She has even cooked at the White House! I recommend the seafood entrees and noodle dishes. They have been beautifully prepared and cooked perfectly. My husband and I drove 40 minutes looking for some good sushi. After reading the reviews we've decided to give this place a try. We are foodies and have tried many different sushi restaurants all throughout US. Our palate has a certain expectation on sushi and unfortunately this restaurant is below grade. Even below average supermarket grade. The hwe dup bap you see on the pic is 30 percent drained in liquidity diluted hot sauce paste . I believe this was to mask the not so fresh fish. My husband ordered the teriyaki salmon and the teriyaki sauce was very unusual as well. Too much soy sauce and not sweet enough to enhance the cooked fish. I have it one star because the server seemed pleasant. As for the food...I hope I don't encounter any hershey squirts. (diarrhea) By the way, even their simple miso soup was tasteless. Asahi is a newly opened restaurant with very good Asian cuisine. I actually saw an ad for the place in a local magazine. The ad gave me a vision of a modern restaurant with a happy and friendly atmosphere. We have so many different types of Asian-inspired restaurants, so I thought I'd give it a try, maybe it could be the new spot! When I arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday night, we walked and immediately my hopes dropped. To be quite honest it was not at all what their magazine ad conveyed the atmosphere to be. There is a ton of potential for decor, but it really lacked that intimate feel. We stood at the door looking around for a couple minutes, until a hostess came to greet us. She seemed surprised that we wanted a table and weren't there for pick up. She told us they had been dead all day, which is probably not the best opening line. Once we were sat, our orders were taken quickly and everyone was very friendly. However, it seemed that they were a bit too friendly with some of their customers. Specifically a man at the bar who seemed to be a frequent visitor. He was so drunk that he was slurring his words and stumbling around. He offered to buy the female employees shots, some of which did not seem to be of legal drinking age. I was so surprised at what I was seeing as they downed the shots together! Finally, they kicked the man out of the restaurant when he became verbally inappropriate towards the young women. After this interesting scene was over, our food arrived at the table. All of the food was delicious, but nothing better than the usual take out spots. Instead of sitting at the table to enjoy conversation we pretty much just ate our meals and spent the rest of the night at home. Overall, I would recommend this place for take out. The food was fresh, well cooked and satisfying. As for a dine in restaurant, you may want to choose somewhere with a more contemporary feel. read more

I have been here about five times, and every time the owner is out and about in the dining room making sure everything is legit! I have not hear one meal or appetizer that was not delicious. I used come here when it was Osaka I believe but they changed the name and new owner now. My father wanted to have a Sushi for his 77 birthday, so I reserved for Sunday dinner. Oh my, what a mistake, I ordered the most expensive meal $110 sushi & sashimi combo. This was another mistake, first of all it came in several small plates for each their own as individual meal. Trust me since I am Asian, I know my Asian food and Sushi. I was expecting to come in a sushi boat setting however I saw the sushi boat sitting separately on the windshield of room and they don't use it at all. The dinner plate usually comes with miso soup and salad at least that's how it was before. Now with new ownership, nothing comes out before order and they charge $5 per small miso soup. I also ordered Korean bbq rib (Galbi), it was salty and kids left all the mushroom and toppings. This is good location, but the food and service were way below average. I am new to sushi but I order the Uni, salmon roe, hotategai, pork fried dumplings, and Seoul rib. I was very surprised with how good everything was and think the rib steals the show for sure!
