Rude, short, and weird. I went in to Artworks gallery and showed my hand blown wine goblets to Heidi one of the two co-owners of a mother a daughter team. She explained to me that they would either buy some on my glass or if I put it on consignment I would make a better percentage. I told her would make her some wine goblets, and put them on consignment in her store. She agreed. About two weeks later I went back in with fresh made goblets, and met the mother. She asked what I was doing and I replied "I brought you some goblets" she was then very short and nasty with me and said "well, we don't take anything unless we both have seen them, and you'll have to wait till I'm done with this customer". As if I was I was being pushy. It was her that started our conversation. I was quietly looking around her store before she asked if she could help me. I waited till her customer was gone. I then showed her my products including paperweights, pendants, oil candles, and of course the wine goblets. She said she liked the goblets and I should call and talk to Heidi when she is in. I called Heidi later that week and talked to her, she was very nice and we agreed that I would bring the goblets in again. Then the very next day I received a message on my answering machine stating that they didn't want anything from me because her mother said so. The thing that gets me is that I'm the only local glass blower in Eagle River and I was not going to make them pay up front. It would have cost them nothing! This very same thing happened to me 5 or 6 years ago only with pendants. They ask you to make them something then tell you they don't want it. Back then I had my hair in dreadlocks so I figured they were just prejudging me over my hair and I would give them another shot now that my hair is short. I now believe that this woman is perhaps a feminist and just plain hates men. I have been making glass for about 7 or 8 years now and have made a living on it for all of those years. I am know married and have two teens and a foreign exchange student that all depend on me. I cannot afford to have my time wasted like this as my wife is currently out of work. These two are very unprofessional and perhaps this store would benefit if mommy stayed out of it. read more
