They restored it completely and gorgeously. They then surprised me with a lengthy report about the process with pictures of the work along the way. I was thoroughly impressed. I think we've all grown accustomed to shoddy service in so many realms. Not here. Last week when I was about to import another piece but had questions about it from afar, they were happy to look at it and make recommendations, assured me that it looked in good quality but was surely on paper instead of canvas. The artist is now painting us a new one on canvas. We're thrilled! No negatives, no photographer or digital file to reference. And my mother presented this photo to me in the same frame it has been in since the 1980s. Unfortunately, time wore on this picture so much that there were stains; the photo was damp and stuck to the glass and began to rip. I worked with Jason to restore this image. He was able to scan the image through the glass, correct the lighting, and have quite a few issues with the photo. With a whole lot of patience, the picture was restored. The bench was purchased by my mother, probably around 40 years ago, and was in her huge backyard and garden. She had 5 benches, and 5 kids, and this one was mine after she passed in 2011. Over the years I have had it refinished, but time took a toll on the structure of it. Replacing it with a new bench did not seem satisfying- how could I discard this precious (to me) piece of history that contained so many memories of my mother and her beautiful yard? Giorgio came out and took a look, (remember he is a fine antique restorer) and he said he would like to take on the project. The price was more than I thought it would be, (way more than a new bench), but he explained that he would have to replace all of the wood, all of the hardware and restabilize the bench. It would take approximately 1 month, taking it to his studio. I agreed. He took the bench away in pieces. The old bench was oak, and he we went over options for replacement and settled on heat treated ash, an enduring high-quality choice that would have a similar look to the original oak. Giorgio delivered the bench back to my San Francisco yard. I was so happy! The quality craftsmanship of Giorgio Di Costanzo filled that bench with the magic of my mother's memory to be enjoyed for years to come.

They extracted the glass from the frame and dismantled the window frame by frame until they got to the broken pane of glass. When I picked up the repaired hutch window, I could not even tell where the repair had been done. The first stained glass studio I talked to gave me a description of the extensive work he'd need to do, a cost estimate and an ETA on how long it would take, and they all seemed crazy. So we had doubts we'd be able to get the issue fixed. Then I contacted Helios and had a completely different result. They were so friendly and so taken with our old lamp. They immediately knew what to do to mend and strengthen the glass shade, having fixed similar issues with many vintage lamps. The price quoted was less than a quarter of the first cost estimate we got, and the time estimate was only a week or two. Their proposed solution was so sensible we knew we were in good hands. That impression was only strengthened by Connie's gorgeous personal stained glass art on display in their workshop. With those examples of the talent in play, I knew the result would look great. And it looked even better than expected. When we picked up our fixed lampshade right on schedule, the repairs were invisible and the previously weakened structure was now rock solid.
