Clean. Whenever I walk into a nail salon the very first thing I checked are the drains.

This salon is one of Red Oaks Best Kept Secrets. 1st they're oldschool. I get an oldschool 90s vibe when I come here. But I love it. They take very good care of my natural nails. Don't get me wrong I'm not referring to the quality of products. I'm referring to the tone and care they put into their work They are not afraid to get down and dirty with my cuticles and this one toe nail that gets on my nerves! It's been a long time since someone pulled out the drill on my nails. I loved it. They scrub and drill, and clip everything. These new salons like to hand file EVERYTHING, and that gets on my nerves. I typically visit your salon during the week. But today I wanted to see what is like on the weekends. And I will admit they're a little understaffed. I came in early for a manicure pedicure... and I could tell as people started coming in the technician started to rush. He clipped my nails and then started painting, I had to remind him to file them and round off the edge. I do agree with another review that they need to work on painting. There's an older lady here during the week she's great with painting. But I wouldn't trust any of them to do any elaborate designs. But again I get an oldschool 90s vibe when I come here. But I love it. When I want something elaborate I do go down the street, which the other locations are always busy and crowded, and the technicians are always rushed. I will continue to come here regularly.

Just moved to the area and needed to find my go to nail place. I have found it, I love how my nails came out.

Don't use the lady named Ivy. She is very unprofessional and argumentative. Her customer service…read morewas horrible. She was very rough and asked if she was the only one that I have experienced that with. I said yes. Overall, it's a great place. I've been going for a while. I usually book appointments but saw my nails needed some help and walked in today. I have little ones and needed some mommy time. She said she doesn't use the white powder for dip nails. I asked why and she said that's her way. I politely asked her if she could use it as I have always had the white powder on my nails before the application. (Every nail tech uses the white powder) She refused very abruptly and told me that's how she does it. She was very rude. She asked if I normally come in and I said I do but today was just a one off and she said maybe you need to schedule your person next time. I said I most definitely will. You shouldn't have to tolerate disrespect if you don't book someone. I asked the front desk receptionist what do you call the white powder that's placed on the nails before the dip color. The nail tech, Ivy, said out loud in front of the receptionist, She won't know she is not a nail tech. I love the owners and I have been to several nail salons in the area and this place is by far the best! You get in and get out! I have recommended several people and they all love it there. They do not go to her though. They were busy and I extended grace but the disrespect from the tech was a no. I will keep going. I am very loyal to Star nails. This is my first issue in 5 years.

I will say that the front staff are always so welcoming and sweet. My issue started AFTER sitting down. I was getting my hands done and a pedicure. I will say the lady who did my toes was super sweet and nice. She did a good job too but the only thing was i wish she went a little more on cleaning under the nails. But overall she was great. Now let's talk about the young woman who did my hands. From the beginning she just looked upset or bored. Some can even say she looked like she didn't want to be there at all. I know her name but I'm not going to blast her because she could be a good nail tech and was having a bad day. Or she could still be a new etc. overall I'm not going to call her out. Anyways, I told her I wanted French tips and wanted the shape squared/oval. She said she could do that. That was the only time she spoke to me. Honestly that doesn't bother me. Because sometimes you don't want to have small talk. Anywho, she finished the shape and I didn't like it. I told Her but she didn't fix it. And I was "trusting the process". Then she started painting the French tips and she asked if I liked it. I said no that's not the way I liked them which I then showed her again. She then got an attitude about it. She "fixed it" but it still wasn't the way I liked. The French tips went across with little to no curve and if you look at the nails it looks a little wonky. Then when she went to cure the nail polish she started getting mad at the AGAIN because my thumb "wasn't cured". Note I was getting both hands and feet down and she had her lamp on my lap and was angled all weird. Well she's like "you need to make sure to put your fingers right ". I'm like You're the one who positioned my hands. Whatever. Overall once she was done she didn't speak to me. Didn't ask if I liked it and walked away. Didn't say goodbye. Then when I was trying to pay for the service, she sat down behind me while I paid and watched me. So I just didn't feel like arguing with her so I paid. Let unhappy and I'll just find a way to fix them at home because they're not what I wanted. The other staff looked friendly though. The place looked clean and welcoming. But in still indecisive if I'll come back. For the price I paid I felt it was so much for no good results.

My skin was way red after the waxing but she grabbed me and took me over to the make-up dept and applied Janes Disappear with green tea extract. This shit can erase even a tat! I had wine, I bought Disappear and a brush and we may be going back this weekend for a massage. Which is good cuz I totally spied some eye shadows and lip gloss that had my name written all over it. I know that Waxahachie is maybe a town you know nothing about but I guarantee that it is worth the trip. When I move here I will be there every week.

The tech was 30 minutes late. I get it, things happen like the previous client ran late, etc. However, the cuticle trimming was painful experience, she clipped my nails too short - to the point that she cut into my quick, OUCH! Finally got to the point of painting my nails. All I can say is ......sloppy. My left pinkie nail was literally 3/4 painted and I didn't notice it until after I got home. I lived with it for a week then removed the gel at home. On top of that, part of my service was a foo-foo hand / forearm treatment with a salt scrub, paraffin and mud mask, massage and moisturize.....she forgot the mud mask. Very disappointing, I've no intention of going back.
