My 2010 GMC Sierra had a "check engine" light that came on intermittently. I was able to drop off my vehicle at Art's Automotive the next day after I contacted them. After running diagnostics they found that the problem was due to a defective "mass air flow" sensor. The service advisor kept me up to date throughout the diagnostic and repair process through text messages. I took my Mini Countryman in for a basic oil change. I picked it up Friday, Feb 13th at 4pm. With the next day being Valentine's Day, my husband and I drove my car around town and my car started smelling like hot oil. We pulled off the side of the road, this had nothing to do with my small under oil leak recently found. I lifted up my car hood and there was NO OIL CAP. They Failed to do SIMPLE QUALITY CONTROL on a oil change!!! Do we had dinner plans to go to Portland for dinner, if I would have drove my car and that far it would have thrown a rod in my motor!!!! They made it right, but we lost out on Valentine's Day Dinner!! We could have totally thrown a rod in the motor and my car would have required a $6000+ motor replacement just not taking QC inspection on a simple F@cking oil change! They towed my car to the shop, offered a rental car, did a complete new oil change and had to buy me a new oil cap. QUALITY CONTROL, if you want my business. You almost costed me my car motor over a simple F@CKING OIL CHANGE!!! I am still , but at least they fixed it, but it shouldn't have been that stupid mistake in the first place!!!! Quality Control PEOPLE! I don't have money to replace a motor, that is why I was doing preventative maintenance. Your other business Esty's, which is owned by the same owner has been great, but you need to step it back up ARTs!!!! read more

My husband had an issue with his truck and had a code on it as it was the shift solenoid and contacted Arts because we had used them before. We will not be back!!! 1. They did not even look at the shift solenoid 2. They are not a transmission shop, they service them they do not repair them 3. There was a leak and they "supposedly" fixed it. They did not when it finally got to the Nissan dealership shop there was only a quart of oil in it. 4. My husband only drove it 12-15 miles before it blew out the 4th and 5th gears. 5. Had to take the now ungovernable truck to a shop which it went to Nissan 6. Poor customer service seemed to just want to argue! We paid over $700 they would only refund half when they did not make a substantial repair to begin with. 7. This all could of been avoided if in the beginning they would of been up front and told us they do not do repairs on transmissions, and they wanted to charge us significantly more than what the Nissan repair shop did.l 8. Had overheating issues and told it was a Head Gasket(nearly $6000 later) it still overheated and i had to fix the issue. Afree that i noticed a visible leak in the radiator after they looked it over TWICE and gave a GUESS quote over $4000 more for intrusive repairs when it was less than $200 for a new radiator and 2 hours of my inexperienced time using YT videos to swap it out. After Covid they've become PREDATORY with their "Repairs". I was quoted less than $100 for an oil change and turned into over $600 for work i never authorized or notified prior to paying my bill. read more

I am a first time customer of Art's. My initial call to them was fielded by Patrick, I was really impressed with his knowledge & customer courtesy. We discussed my issues (Which I was pretty sure what was generally wrong.) I had a coupon for a service & asked him if I could use the service coupon for two vehicles, my Ford F-150 & my son's Mercury Mariner, as well. I mentioned that my son is currently serving our GREAT NATION in the country of Bahrain. He eluded to the fact that he had been there several times in his 24 year career in The United States Navy, which is the branch my son serves in. I set an appointment for the following Monday...... I arrived at their facility at the prescribed time, and was given very friendly greeting by Melissa, as she was very knowledgeable & focused. She was very courteous as we went over the game plan for both vehicles. She called me early afternoon and went over the issues that we needed to address. All work was completed on both vehicles by early afternoon, and everything that was PROMISED was DELIVERED. I showed up to settle my bill later that day. To my surprise, my son's vehicle was serviced for FREE! She stated that because even though he is on an overseas billet, that he is still "active duty," and in gratitude for his service his oil change service was FREE! WOW!!!! Just WOW!!!.... Took my car in last summer to get the AC fixed because it kept blowing hot air. I brought it back a second time after their "fix" the first time only lasted a few days. They said I needed new this and that, spent $1300 and still it blows hot air. I never went back and would love a recommendation to a shop that can fix a simple AC leak. read more

My husband had our car towed to Art's yesterday and later was told it would cost$1,800.00 for a fan replacement!??!?!?!?! That was not including the $140.00 for a thermostat! We decided that that was NEVER going to happen, they then told us today that we would have to pay $130.00 to pick it up, as that was the cost to diagnose it. I have had issues with them in the past, 2 years ago my husband took our BMW in they took the dash apart and the screws and bolts were laying on my floor board when I picked up after paying 800 for what they SAID was the problem, that ultimately was not the problem, it broke down 3 weeks later and a REAL mechanic told us the problem was a blown head gasket. What is done is done but I really just want to let others who are thinking of taking their car or truck to Art's, beware. Times are tough, and I am a normal person who understands nothing is free, but this is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!! *Update* I took my vehicle to another mechanic, they showed me that my fan that was supposedly broken, was unplugged, they had me come and see that it was in fact unplugged, so either Arts never checked to see if the fan was unplugged and lied and said my fan was broken or they unplugged to check it and never plugged it back in when we refused to pay them to fix it, they never plugged it back in and let us drive with it unplugged??? Either way this is the worst automotive shop I have ever done business with. read more

Worse customer service ever. I have worked for Safeway, Firestone, and Sears, this was the worse service ever. As if they never wanted my service and the service Mgr. Patrick was even worse lying about returning a phone which never happened after the bad service. They did not even offer information about warranties. They failed on so, many levels. read more

Art's knows service. I got my brakes repaired at Art's on my 1989 Ford Merkur and when I got back to work, one of the brakes locked up. I called Art's and they immediately dispatched a tow truck out to my location without any grief. I had my car back to me the next day with the brakes working great and their apologies. I brought my car in because it was overheating and my AC fan was not coming on. They fixed the AC fan and told me that the overheating problem was fixed. I paid 700+ dollars to fix this overheating problem. 2 weeks later my car overheated again and blew one of my head gaskets. I took it back to Arts hoping they will fix this problem. They told me no, they fixed the AC fan and the AC fan still worked. They said they would fix the head gasket for $1300. I told them that I just paid them 2 weeks prior $700+ to fix the overheating problem and now they want to charge me $1300 more to fix the same problem. They told me there is nothing they could do. I asked if I could get a refund for the original $700 that did not fix my problem (overheating) and they told me no. They stand behind the fan still working. This is not what I expect from a reputable Mechanic. I paid $700+ to fix an overheating problem that came back 2 weeks later and caused serious damage to my engine and they would offer me no remedy. Do not bring your vehicles to Arts, they are incompetent and when they don't fix your problem, they will try to charge you again to take another shot at it if you let them. read more

They charged my dad $115 for tightening his starter cables. Oh and a couple locking washers. That was it. He told them his starter was only intermittently working. Yet, it took $100 of labor for them to figure out it was loose cables? Which is pretty much the FIRST thing you check? That's pretty embarrassing. Years ago, this shop was highly reputable, honest, and fair. Not sure what happened, but apparently those standards have dramatically declined, which is a shame. Avoid this shop, unless you like being blatantly overcharged for the simplest of tasks. read more

Places like Art's Automotive are one of the main reasons I love yelp. When a business treats me right, I want to share it! Even if most likely nobody I know will ever go there. Thank you, Yelp, for making this possible. So, the whole family was on I-5, heading off to the boonies for a much-anticipated campout, when Pirate Daddy heard it. The noise. The one he'd been trying to catch again for weeks. And this time it just kept going. Pirate Daddy's best guess? An alternator bearing. So he calls around, trying to find a spare alternator. I-5 near Longview is not a good place for alternators. But a nice person directs him to Art's Automotive. Now, "Art" (not his real name) tells him that he doesn't have time to replace our alternator that evening, but to bring the truck in for the free alternator check and he'll take a look. So we do. And he and a colleague do. Right away. Fifteen minutes after pulling in to Art's, we're back on the road, heading off to the boonies, happy in the knowledge that our car has been given some focused professional attention and our alternator was not likely to go kaput when we're forty miles from anywhere. Arts Auto did find my mother in laws problem with her vehicle as she was traveling through Longview and they were able to help her quickly get on her way. But there's just one thing that just troubles me. Her serpentine belt ate itself up and came off her motor due to a seized pulley. The belt coming off while she was driving ripped out the plug for an important sensor called a crankshaft sensor. The mechanic talked to my spouse over the phone ( we are many, many miles away or we would've have come to the rescue ) about the problems he found and the mechanic was told to fix everything. Arts auto did replace the belt and the seized pulley ( thank you ) but failed to replace or repair the next important component. THE SENSOR. That sensor is so important to the run ability of a motor. They let my mother in law leave without fixing that sensor which could have been detrimental for her motor. That sensor basically controls the position of the crankshaft and the timing. It was great of them to help her in a pinch. BUT everything should've been done properly. We were upset to find she drove all the way to Oregon and back past Everett with that sensor not reading potentially causing damage, which luckily it didn't so far. read more

I dropped off my 2000 ford focus for replacement of heater defrost a/c fan and resister switch. Another mechanic told me he thought the bill was way out of line for the work I had done. I was charged $ 42.39 for a resister switch I later priced at about $ 9.00. I was charged $135.46 for a blower I priced at $35.00. I was charged 1.6 hrs of shop labor at $95.00 hr to do a job I later watched done on you tube in less than 15 minutes. suffice to say they will never see my shadow darken their door ever again. I take full responsibility for not researching the scope of the work I was having done and allowing them to proceed without scrutinizing their estimate and ethics. read more

I went there because a people suggested them. BIG mistake! Took two full days and several calls to get an answer to what my trucks "ELECTRICAL" issue was. Problems everywhere. I DID NOT ask to have my brakes or fluids checked! Had they just stuck to what I asked it probably would not have taken as long. I also mentioned a couple times that I can NOT afford a whole lot, and asked couple times where my bill was standing at! The first day halfway through I was given one amount, but was never actually given an upgraded amount until my truck was torn apart and put back together ready for pickup. I was told I get a call back the first day and never got one. I called twice the second day and finally got one but still no update on my vehicle. They were friendly for the most part until I called them out on not getting back to me. Had us come down to show they had the truck torn apart and to just point out what the issue was rather than just telling me over the phone. (We live 20 minutes away) My bill doubled!
