I booked the same day appointment with Ariana for a short gel X set with nail designs. I sent them a photo of my inspiration, and Ariana was able to replicate it pretty much perfectly. The one thing I'll know is online if you book gel X it says the appointment is an hour and 45 minutes long but I don't think this fully counts for designs. I was there for a total of three hours which makes sense but definitely just account for that. That being said I love my nails. Thank you so much! read more

Had a great experience today at Artonus. 10th floor- you check in at 1011 and they ask you a few questions about what type of nails you're interested in. Then they take you next door to the room where all the magic happens. Ellie was very personable and detail oriented. She shaped my nails nicely and would ask me to check them to see if I was happy with them. She also recommended a specific brand of cat eye polish and a specific type of cat eye style (didn't know there were multiple!) I really enjoyed my service today. I was coming here for about a year, and I really did like their work. The girls are always super nice. The owner can be a little rude, but I never really cared since you're mostly just with the tech doing your nails anyway. I will say this though--like any product, it's going to affect your nails. I finally asked to get my structured gel removed, and I'm about two months into not getting my nails done... and my nails are so weak. It's disappointing because they really sell you on the idea that structured gel won't ruin your nails, but honestly, it does. Just something to keep in mind. I wish I hadn't kept it on for so long because now I'm struggling with my nails. I used to have strong, healthy nails and never had an issue with growth, but these past couple of months have been rough. read more

Ruby did my gel x extensions (white ombré) and it came out super super pretty!! Really love her attention to details with cuticle care and shape of the nails itself. She even paid attention to how my nail beds are diff lengths so she used a mix of extra short and short length extensions. Usually other nail salons use one length and just cut it shorter but her attention to detail really stood out to me here. 1. My gel X manicure was $180 with tip. 2. My gel X manicure didn't have any nail art or anything and still took TWO ENTIRE HOURS 3. My gel X tips began to come off THE NEXT DAY. I didn't even know it was possible with this strong material, but they did SUCH a bad job that I guess it can happen! The older woman who did my nails wasn't pressing down to get the gel X gel all over the nail bed, as someone who has had gel x nails done many times, I could FEEL from how she was doing it that they were not sticking. They also were on an upward tilt because of all of the glue. And there was a lot of glue stuck under the nails after as well. Basically, even if this wasn't the most expensive manicure I'd ever gotten and/or it didn't come off THE NEXT DAY it would STILL be a bad job. They're also STILL longer than I asked for and she kept getting snarky when I kept asking her to cut them and she just kept filing and I kept showing her I wanted SHORT and I just gave up at some point. I feel so disappointed I was really looking forward to supporting them. I woke up to a fresh manicure and one popped right off like it was a press on and I just began to cry because how can you offer a service this horrible quality at such a high price? I really wish I could give zero stars, as of now they STILL haven't sent me my money back. read more

Um. Im sorry but this place is a scam. I wasnt planning on a review, customer service was very bad and uncomfortable, nail length not at all what i asked (medium), and overpriced. But now 3-4 days later a nail fell off already. During mani their product was pilling. Nail tech blamed me and said it was my hair. Did not touch my hair at all during mani. Nail tech was groaning that she had to redo a step. My hair is BLONDE. The product was WHITE. How would my hair only get on every nail in the spots their low quality white polish was applied, but somehow not on the rest of the nail? Bad experience from the moment i walked in and the host stared at me blankly, while i had just texted him that im arriving. They have a similar name to an AUTHENTIC Japanese nail art salon and I think this is how they try to get clients. Almost $400 to be treated poorly, rushed, and they will just do a design nothing like what you asked. Proof in pics. $150+ more than any good J-nail salon in NYC or LA. I basically ran out because im in town for a nice time after my family lost their home in LA! I was trying not to cry at how rude they were and wasting the time for work i did not ask for at all!!! This is not medium length in any universe, it looks like trash! No wonder they are so rude and unhappy because they have no regular customers with this scam business strategy. read more

I went here on a visit to NYC and wanted a gel manicure. I opted for the restorative gel mani and it turned out perfect. I had never had my nails done with the technique the nail artists use but I'd definitely return. They really take their time and are detail oriented. I, unfortunately, didn't take any photos when they were freshly done, but it's been about 2 weeks later and they are still looking pretty good. I had a painful experience during the gel removal process. The technician accidentally drilled too deeply and hit the skin under my nail--not the cuticle, but the actual skin. I mentioned the pain only after some time had passed, and only then did she apologize and apply some ointment. It's been two days, and the area is still swollen and hasn't healed. The injury is quite deep, and it stings a lot. I'm really disappointed, even though the nails themselves look nice. read more

I read the reviews around pricing so I submitted my appointment with a design attached asking for pricing but received no response. I called and asked and was told I'd get a call back in three business days (which is wild to begin with) but fine, I waited three business days and still didn't receive a call back, so I canceled. The receptionist asked why I was canceling so I told him it's because they couldn't even tell me the pricing for a design I sent them. He just said "okay" lol. They probably should get a receptionist who wants to help them book clients not deter them, but that's just my two cents! read more
