Even though I took art studies and pottery classes in college (all four years), I still learn every single class when I am with Lesther. He really is a fantastic teacher!! This particular session I made two mugs, three bowls, and two plates. They all went to the glazing fire last week, and I will be able to pick my finished pieces up in 10 days. The Pottery room consists of two large rooms with different sections for hand work, glazing, firing and the pottery wheels. Hudgens offers a great variety of artist's works in many different formats. Those artists who contribute a great amount of work to the center even have their own sections dedicated to their works. Although I am not too big on "art galleries," I did find the Hudgens center to be somewhat interestingly captivating. Some of the paintings actually made me hallucinate just looking at them, because of the vivid trance causing design the artist created. I really liked the metal sculpture outside the building created by Rita Blitt named "The Passionate Gesture Retrospective Exhibition."

It's almost like being in a classroom with 35 other people. Everyone has their own paint brushes, paint, easels, apron etc. which is all provided. The teacher/professional, aka artist of the night, sets up in the front of the room with a microphone and goes step by step on what colors to mix and what to paint on your canvas. Each session has its own unique picture to paint depending on the night you go. It is BYOB here and soooo much fun! You can bring snacks and wine and be merry! Such a great time for girls AND guys! I saw at least 5 guys at this particular session and they really enjoyed it! Ladies don't be shy to bring your guys here or just have a Girls Night! I'm sure everyone would have a blast!

Some can't paint the painting to look like the 'model' painting and aren't helpful with technique. It's a crap shoot based on who you get. They are all nice. I was there 2 days ago, and the experience was fun with my group. Today I am so disappointed. My niece and I were so excited to do the Eiffel Tower painting because we've just been to Paris together, and the silhouettes in the painting look like us. We've been telling everyone we were doing it and have been planning for 3 weeks. At 2:00 today they let me know not enough people signed up and they canceled the class. We are so bummed. Maybe they wouldn't have made a lot of money tonight, but they lost all of our future business. I'm sadly looking for new places to paint.

We went for a three year olds birthday party. The party space was large and set up great for…read morecake/pizza. There's a fridge and sink in the room. The kids loved venturing out into all of the different areas and playing. It kept them busy the whole time. Truly interactive and enjoyable. We have a 6 month old baby and she crawled around in their small play space for the smaller babies. I will say it did say to remove shoes but lots of bigger kids were just running wild through this space with their shoes on and it was a bit much so we didn't stay playing in there long for fear our little would get trampled. Nice to have an area for babies in theory, but without someone running the area it's just not being respected which again is more on the parents supervision (or lack there of). Overall a good experience and we could come back.
