I came to get a painting by my father framed on 4/22. I went with the cheaper option and ended up…read morepaying under $100. I was told it would take 3 weeks due to being so busy. I had a pleasant experience overall Fast forward 7 weeks. I totally forgot it and realized I had never received a call that the job was done. I stopped in today assuming I had missed the call and it would be ready. I was told it's in the back and that it would be done in a "day or two ". I asked if it could be done in a day and was told the would try. When I asked why it was not done already, "they were busy"... the same reason it was supposed to take 3 weeks in the first place. I conveyed my frustration and told them I will be back tomorrow. I understand that my job was small and if it wasn't prioritized. I can even understand that it was forgotten entirely, although that brings up questions about the professionalism, organization, and accountability of the business. What I can't abide is that when they became aware of the mistake, they were unaccountable and dismissive. Instead of "we were busy, we'll call in a day or two when it's done", I much rather prefer and respect, "we made a mistake, sorry. We will correct that mistake asap." Lastly, I can't imagine my framing job would take more than an hour or two. I hope the product is better than the service... I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I wanted to give this store a fair chance- I've been twice now, so my review is a combination of…read moreboth experiences. The first thing you notice when you enter the store is that everything is hodge-podged together- the "shelves" are the type of shelves you put in your basement or shed to store boxes- definitely not what you'd use for a store display. That being said, it's new and I'm sure it's expensive to open a new store, so whatever- looks aren't everything. They have a decent amount of items in the store for the size. Good quality sketch pads and pens. My major issue is the attitude of the owner. The owner of the store took every opportunity to speak poorly of the newly closed art supply store that was next door. The owner worked there for many years and opened this current store after the other store closed. When I walked in the first time, the owner was in the midst of a conversation with a customer about how "crazy" the former store owner was, etc etc. That customer left and I was the only one in the store. Since I live in the neighborhood I asked her questions about her new store- I didn't know she had any ties to the former art store in the same shopping complex, so I got to hear how awful this other owner was, how she wanted to overcharge her for everything, etc. I came in again last week to grab a sketch pad and it was the same story- I could hardly believe it. All this effort and breath wasted to put down a business that doesn't even exist anymore. I was so off-put by it, that I didn't even buy the sketchpad. As a business owner in Frederick myself, I think it's pretty easy to assume that we should all play by rule #1: do not speak ill of others when representing your business. Period. I don't know the history between the two women, but that doesn't matter to me- it's just bad business to speak poorly of others. She could have taken the opportunity to explain how she was going to do things differently, what she will carry and her hopes for the store, etc etc- instead she decided to take the low road and insult a company that is out of business and of no threat to her store. While there aren't too many places in town to purchase artist supplies from an independent dealer, I won't be shopping here again.

We selected Dimensions Unlimited based on the recommendations from Angles List AND a recommendation…read morefrom a co-worker who had recently completed a renovation. Richard is the owner of the company and does the majority of work himself. For background we had a 1000 square foot basement that was cinder block and concrete floor when we bought it. Once we got to the point in the reno that we were ready for drywall we started searching for a good firm. Dimensions Unlimited was the only one that even came close to being able to tackle this job as there were multiple angles and odd corners to be addressed. Richard was prompt in returning my call to request a quote, he came right out and within two days provided the quote as we requested. We settled on his firm and the work began within three weeks. (We were a little slow in getting the final framing done and it delayed the job a bit). The drywall was installed using the glue and screw method. I was originally against this idea because it meant the insulation had to be fixed to the inside of the wood vice on the outside, which is easier. Richard explained the reason he uses the double installation is to ensure the walls are smooth with no wave. I took the extra time to put the insulation in the way requested and have to agree it was worth it. There is not a single wave in the walls, it looks exactly like it's supposed to - new construction in a 1950's house. Every corner and angle is perfect - this is not a single blemish in the entire job. I was dreading when the sanding would began because we've been through this before and have had to bring in cleaning crews after. I didn't have to do anything other than normal cleaning when the job was finished. Every day he would clean up after himself and leave the job site clean. Richard recommended we use a certain brand of primer and paint (Sherwin Williams) and we decided to go with it even though we generally use Behr. I recommend following his advice when given, the finished work is amazing and I really am going to cry when I hang the first picture because I don't want to put a single hole in the walls. He arrived promptly everyday and was quite pleasant to interact with. Richard is truly an artist when it comes to drywall and we are already planning on asking him to come back and drywall a bathroom that is next on the list for renovation.
