That's part of what makes it great--it's a real throwback in that it has art supplies of all kinds--things you handle and touch, things that will allow you to express yourself without interfacing with any sort of technology. That's a good thing. They have all the latest art supplies for any project you may have, but also still have some things you won't see elsewhere: sign painters paints and brushes (they're positively lush!) and maybe even some drafting and lettering stock. Back in the 70's I lusted after Letraset sheets to make 'zines, and last time I was at Howard's they even had some of them! Plus everything else, of course. They also do high quality framing, are eager to listen and if needed, offer guidance for your framing project. We've had a number of things framed here and it's always been a very good experience. Howard's is a throwback in all the best ways. It's a cozy store with everything you might need. The staff are personable, laid back and helpful when help is required. There's always a wide variety of items from tools, furniture cabinet, flooring, and many other things I available for purchase a lot of times especially on days where they're running a really good sale. The fact that they run sales on items that are already discounted makes me come back and the quality of the good so you are inspected before being put on the floor so you don't have to wonder if it works or not. I couldn't find the very basic fabric I was looking for, and in addition, a staff member was very condescending, which was very uncalled for. It's hard because there really is not a great selection of fabric stores in this area, but I will go back to purchasing most of my fabric online. Great selection of paint and supplies and, hold on...superior customer service in advising us on selecting interior paint for our house to ready it for sale. What a difference from wandering around alone in the paint department of a huge box store. Our salesperson was a color specialist who was so helpful in choosing colors from a palate that segued nicely from room to room with the result being a cohesive approach to interior color rather than hit-or-miss. We wouldn't have gotten this expertise from a box store.
