There wasn't a lot available on a Sunday afternoon as it was pretty busy. There are books throughout and an area with books. There is a shop area attached to the cafe part. They have lots of unique gifts. And there is a little table for kids to sit and color at. They had crayons and coloring pages. It was super cute! The parking is all street parking. It's near the arena, so if there is an event there parking can be hard to find. I actually tried twice before to visit on a Sunday and couldn't find anywhere to park because there was an event. I think trying to go on a week day might make parking easier.

While the Fresh Paint art festival is relatively modest with the length of two city blocks, the exhibit inside the center makes the drive worthwhile. If I was more of an art creator, I would definitely look into their classes. They have an impressive array from ceramics and clay to digital to glass, and classics like painting, sculpture, and woodcarving. The facility looks new and is very clean. I would recommend them both to shop for art (at front gift shop or during an exhibit period) and for their classes.

We purchased 7 tamales that were advertised at $2.99 each, but at checkout we were charged $3.29 each. When we asked about the price difference, the explanation we received was that the extra charge was a "store tax", in addition to the separate $2.28 state tax shown on the receipt. The explanation was unclear and did not make sense, especially because the receipt shows the $3.29 as the item price and then separately charges $2.28 in state tax. The price displayed for an item should match what customers are charged at checkout. We kept the receipt and photos of the items purchased and will be reporting the issue to the appropriate consumer agency. I'm sharing this so other customers can be aware and pay close attention to the prices and taxes being charged at checkout. If they are charging this additional "store tax" on tamales, I'm pretty sure they are applying the same charge to all products throughout the store as well.

The fresh produce section is well-stocked, and you can find everything you need to make authentic dishes. I decided to try the Taqueria and ordered several different tacos and a tamale. The tacos were particularly impressive, with the shells crisped to perfection. The pork tamale was also quite tasty. As they do make fresh tortillas you're able to call in and request the size and how many you're looking for in the morning. Overall, Carniceria Los Compadres is a great spot for anyone looking for authentic Mexican ingredients and dishes in the Everett area.
