The coffee we got here was perfectly made. Worth a stop, especially if you are taking a trip to the candle outlet.

10/10 - Making plans to stop to pee here again…read more For anyone just looking for a rest step off the highway: the bathrooms are in the main building (with the candle) and towards the back middle. They're clean with tons of stalls and a cool rustic vibe. They do a great job knowing why someone might stop here. It's quick in, but (admittedly) a slower "out" as I usually end up shopping and finding neat stuff. You're probably going to walk away with something you want here too. It's a seasonal megastore every time we come here. During Christmas months, tons of Christmas. During fall, lots of autumn. During Spring, Easter, etc. You get it. It's not just the crap you see at big box stores; it's the special-ordered decoration places, feeling more like a huge Hallmark (if you remember those from the malls!) than just a bunch of stuff you've seen 30 times before. If you're not a decorator, they also have a decent selection of small business food (soup starters, seasoning packets for meats, etc.) and local craft beers (you can buy single cans!) to choose from. They ALSO, as the giant candle would imply, have tons of candles. Oddly enough, we rarely buy candles here - though they have a huge selection. We're usually much-more-distracted by everything else. There's also a fresh/homemade candy/fudge counter, and I *think* there's a coffee/cafe in the next-door building as well. They also sell outdoor decor? Some pretty neat stuff too. It's a really cool stop, and if you need to stop, it's well-worth stopping here over any of the nearby gas stations.

If you can get past that, you will enjoy the excellent ice cream and family-friendly facility. A lot of the gift store items are potty humor related but if you have the slightest sense of humor you'll be able to enjoy yourself. There are lots of fun attractions like putting your hand in the aliens mouth, Putt-Putt golf, and other fun stuff. They have a newsletter and many different types of fudge. The potty humor for the fudge amps up to 5th or 6th grade humor. If you survived Elementary School, you should be able to handle this. Visit their website to see the level of humor expected. Again, the ice cream was excellent and served by a staff of teens. The facility was clean and I like the use of graffitied vintage chairs and furniture in the ice cream eatery. Keep an open mind when you visit and remember that off color jokes don't injure or change the taste of really good ice cream!

He was right, I got trapped and I had fun. All kinds of goofy stuff from t-shirts to preserves, chocolates, spices, jigsaw puzzles, plaques and oddities gave me smiles. Retro candy caught my eye and I picked up little to educate my adult sons. For comparison to Mackinac fudge, I bought some here. There is one place in Murfreesboro to get Mackinac fudge and I just might have a tasting at home. All of the artwork here and at the neighboring ice cream shop was fun to see and photograph. Staff is very friendly and greets you with a welcome based on their well known puns. About once I year I am here from TN, and I may stop again. If not, they do have a website of fun stuff to order.

She could not have been more kind and warm; I'm so sad I didn't get her and the owners' names (but her daughter also owns the jewelry store across the street!!). Olive & Slate is a must-shop. Instantly the scent of one of their candles hits your senses and you're drawn in. They sell these awesome robot pieces made of metal and tin and are painted and out together by locals. They also sell flour towels with amazing quips on them (see pics below - they're only $7!!), and Mud Pie products that you canNOT love without. You gotta go visit. BRING YOUR MONEY! Buyer's remorse is NOT a factor here!

There are numerous items (like coffee mugs) styled with clever sayings. There are candles and pots, note pads, and ceramics. Near the entrance is a 3' long "Woodie" station wagon car filled with products. I've never seen anything like it! The mix is eclectic, but somehow the owner has a good sense of style and taste to make it look like it goes together. She was glad to assist if I had anything in particular that I was looking for too! Just another cool shop to stop by when downtown in Muncie! Review #2620
