We travel full-time, which makes getting my hair cut problematic. Yelp always gives me wonderful feedback, and I rely on reviews written by you to choose my hairdressers, among other professionals. The reviews for Artisan were good and they were fairly close to our current location, so I called to make an appointment. Because it was the middle of a work week, I was able to get in with Stephanie that very afternoon. She seemed to understand my very fine, thin and stick-straight hair with no problem and spent 30 minutes or so listening to my routine, skill level and desires. .....unfortunately she wasn't able to give me waist length, wavy, thick strawberry blonde hair, but we did come to an agreement on what needed to be done. When she had finished, I was DELIGHTED!! And, a week later, I'm even more delighted because I can do my own hair, have it turn out nicely and not worry about finding someone to make it work. The cut is excellent, and the style is easy, convenient and perky. Thanks Stephanie. You're attentiveness to my needs and your skill as a stylist are great! If you're thinking of booking your bridal party here for make up and hair, do it!! Hands down the best money I invested in my wedding! I found this place online and they had a great portfolio so we booked here without a trial. I was a bit nervous but I live in Chicago so I had no choice. When we arrived we were greeted with mimosas and cheese, fruit and crackers (great for me, the bride since you have no other time to eat). We had 7 girls and they got us all done with plenty of time left and we all looked great! Not just great, amazing! I had compliments all night on my hair and make up. Someone even remarked that I looked like a movie star. I have a little blog and I think I will dedicate a whole post to this salon, because that's how beautiful they made us all look. Whatever picture we showed them they did, but better! And I'm pretty sure they also threw in some freebies, like false eye lashes, little hair pins for some of the girls, the mimosas etc. They were fun, nice, and they made us all feel comfortable. Martina was (is) ammmmazing with color and just as good at cutting hair. She's current on techniques and I love all the " clean" hair products she and the salon use. The rest of the staff is always friendly and easy going which sometimes can be an issue in other salons. Martina has been taking care of my hair for about 5+ years now, and she is simply phenomenal! I'm the type of gal who loves changing her hair up quite frequently, and Martina has helped me try several different colors, lengths, and styles...and nails them every time. She has always been open and honest with me about how a certain cut/color might look on me, or what level of difficulty it will be to keep it up and style it. In particular, I really appreciate Martina's mastery of coloring hair. I have had highlights off and on since high school, and most of the time they grew out very quickly and looked rough within a few weeks. When Martina does my highlights now, they look natural and don't leave a harsh line as they start to grow out. The color lasts, and looks beautiful until I'm able to return for more. I simply cannot say enough good things about my experiences here...which is why I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair! Great service and a great price!! I used a Groupon at Artisan, which was valued at $125. The entire amount had to be spent in one visit, so I opted to have a color, cut, and pedi. My beautician explained that all of the employees are independent and rent space at the salon. I thought that was kind of interesting since I usually visit Aveda salons. The employees use their own products. Again, this is new to me since I'm familiar with Aveda salons. I had a pedi by Marisa, a foot expert from Minnesota. She was great!! Her spa pedis run around $35, which is well worth the price. I left the salon with a nice hair color, a fresh cut, and very happy feet. I'll be back. read more

I have no real complaints about Artisan Salon. I would say everything is plain mediocre to pretty good, but that the prices compete with an off-the-wall amazing salon. I only decided to go here because I have mondo coupon from one of those daily deals sites. I got my eyebrows waxed and a manicure/pedicure from Melisa. Melisa was very nice, talkative, and did a fairly good job on my nails. I wasn't blown away, but that may be because I usually do my own nails. I expect my experience to be MUCH different from what I do myself. She tries to do a simple massage and even lathers your little piggies up with lotion - but it's stuff I'm pretty sure she bought at WalMart. She uses this "special" pedi-bed that has a removable liner (for cleanliness, she explained), but it just seemed sort of cheap. It was more like she was a very new and temporary fixture at this salon - she didn't have a real chair and was stuffed into a small room. The eyebrow waxing was less than impressive. She didn't ask me what shape I liked or even how bushy I like to keep them. I was left with those stupid, pencil-thin brows that I HATE. I looked over done and now my brows will have impossible upkeep. All in all, nothing really impressed me at Artisan Salon. I wouldn't have gone without the coupon, and I won't go after the coupon is fully used. read more

Well let me be sincere, unfortunately I will never find a place in the US that does nails like in Brazil. It's even unfair to compare because those Brazilian Hotties cover your entire nail and clean the skin. A week later, your nails still look amazing. Melissa is one of the few good Americans I have met that can do nails very well. Like I said, I would not compare to the Brazilian manicures but she is good. I just fell that she cuts the toe nails too short so next time I will tell her not to, and I am sure she will respect that. read more

I've lived in Tucson for over 12 years, and this is the best salon that I've found. I have my hair done by the owner, Martina, and she always cuts my hair exactly the way I want it. She also suggests different ways that I can style my hair at home. Last time I was there, I had the Keratin Express Blowout treatment, and I've never been happier with my hair. Not only it is shiny now, but my hair is not frizzing up during our humid monsoon season. When I blow dry my own hair at home it still looks like I just left the salon, and I've even let it air dry, and my hair still looks great and has smooth, silky beachy waves. I have been going to Artisan hair salon for two years now to see Martina. I first heard of Artisan at the Bridal Expo. I used Martina for my wedding up do, and people still talk about how awesome it looked! It was flawless, and my hair held up the entire night and into the following day...I was truly amazed! Anyway, I have really fine hair and when I get my hair cut and colored or bleached with Martina, I always walk away with a lot of volume and no damage to my hair. I was very bummed when I left Artisan Salon. I came there so excited to have my hair done and my experience wasn't what I am used to. My stylist did my hair nicely, but she didn't communicate what colors she was mixing up for my highlights and didn't really speak to me the entire time. I am used to my stylist walking me through the color mixing and communicating with me. I felt nervous in the chair the whole time. I felt like I was being ignored and I wasn't a priority and yet I was spending a good chunk of money on my hair. I would of liked to have been better treated and made to feel comfortable. I don't know if it was an off day for the salon or what not but I don't plan on returning. I could see that they have a lot of consistent older clients and that is great, but don't forget about the new-coming customers who deserve just as much attention. read more

I just moved to Arizona a few months ago and had to find a new stylist. I found her at Artisan Salon! Corrine is amazing at everything she does. I was in the process of growing out my hair when I finally couldn't take it anymore. She gave me the best A-Line haircut I have ever had. She was very quick and very friendly. I loved my haircut so much I scheduled an appointment to have her color my hair the following week. Of course my color turned out amazing! Jenni Maloney has been my stylist for almost 3 years! I've followed her from her old salon to Artisan Salon. She always does an exceptional job doing my haircuts & colors! Today I walked in feeling hesitant about cutting off 5 inches of hair. She was so reassuring and positive and she completely got rid of all of my anxiety. Tuscon was the site of my sister's destination wedding, and I wanted to treat her to hair and make up on her big day. After a lot of online searches and reading through reviews, I made an appointment with Artisan Salon. There was no time for a bridal preview, so the stakes were high, but Martina and Nadia were terrific. Martina did hair for the bride, her step-daughter, and for me, and Nadia did make up for the bride and for me. The airbrush foundation took care of all of the laugh lines and crow's feet, and is designed to withstand Tuscon temperatures without melting. Martina and Nadia spent a lot of time making sure that we are all photo-ready and happy with our look, and we most certainly were. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to afford my new hair-due/up keep but I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable their prices are and the quality of the products they use. My new stylist is Mary Jo and she did a FANTASTIC job transforming my hair from straight and flat to perfectly curly and NATURAL looking..amazing! I was placed with a "junior" stylist. I think they were trying to build her clientele. The cut and color were acceptable, though not stellar. The reason I didn't go back was because I had no rapport with this stylist. She made several comments that hurt my feelings (I don't think this was intentional); we were just a bad mix. I don't usually write reviews and this review is going to sound silly because I didn't really think about what a great job they did. I happened to find an online coupon for a haircut, conditioning treatment and eyebrow wax. I'm new to Tucson, so I thought, "why not?" I saw Marina. I liked it that she was conversational and nice to talk to, but didn't make it a huge priority. It has been 4 months and I still get compliments on my haircut. At the time I didn't think much of it. I guess I notice a bad haircut and complain, but when I get a great haircut I love it for a day or two and then forget that I've been blessed. I love Artisan Salon! Martina is the best; she's been cutting my hair for a while now!! I won't trust anyone else with my tresses. It is no surprise that she did an amazing job with hair and make-up for myself and my wedding party. My bridesmaid commented that her hair and make-up for my wedding was better than the hair and make-up she had done for her own wedding! Martina is very professional and thorough. She won't send you off looking like a fool, unless that's really what you want I suppose, again she's very professional. She truly listens to what you want. I was a little uncertain about my "wedding day hair" and she took the time to show me different options until I saw something I really loved!
