Artisan coffee and cafe culture has exploded in Hong Kong the last few years. Having explored most of Sheung Wan and Central coffee spots, I've been moving further and trying new places. Shek Tong Tsui has been on my radar for some time, although not gentrified yet, there have been some new spots that have been intriguing, and one of them is Artisan Room. I came here one afternoon, its situated right next to the mtr station, tucked away on South Lane. There is an alfresco seating area which I can imagine would be great during sunny days. The marble top communal table is a center piece, and marble tables are almost a must have nowadays at any hip cafes. Another piece that caught my eye was the large coffee maker called Gothicism, where Artisan Room is the only place in Hong Kong to have one. There are baked goods and sweets offered, but I only ordered coffee and their Kyoto green tea latte. Artisan room does have an appreciation for its craft, and uses premium ingredients while partnering with local shops to pay tribute to Hong Kong's heritage. From what I've seen, they even serve cocktails during the evening. Definitely interested in coming back again! read more
