TOTAL bait and switch. Went there today to look at a live/work unit listed on Craigslist for $2050. Got there to find out that, no, the place is actually $3600. I was told the CL listing must be fake. Um... that ad has been up for awhile now and NOBODY else has seen the unit or called in enquire? PLUS, I contacted these people THROUGH the ad they said was fake! Also, if this ad WAS in fact fake, why did the person not want to speak with me, and only through their maintenance person? Very skeevy. Avoid this place. And finally, when I looked in the dishwasher, it looked like somebody had put a baby's dirty diaper inside and switched it on. Gross! The sink spigot was taped together, all while the ad says the maintenance crew are really good. I don't get how they thought this would work. Just stay away, you can find better live/work spaces put out there by decent, honest people. read more

My sister which is a pastor went down to have a talk to the owner of the building, getting there the owner started to make questions about the legal status of my sister and brother-in-law, my sister very patiently started to explain to him her case and he insisted saying that he could not trust them because they are immigrants it was a Terrible experience to us. She insisted to explain that she had bank statements to prove that they could afford the price and that the place would be rented to be a church he said that he did not cared which kind of shit business they have and that churches are only used for money laundering, me personally I'm a immigrant and a law student in the university of SF state I told my sister that we could sue him because he was racist to them and we recorded all the conversation. At the end he told her leave his office and called them immigrant scammers. At the end she left and said God bless you. read more

Living here was a horrible experience. The manager is a chronic liar who abuses tenants, blames them for maintenance issues and drags his feet to fix. He will begin by telling you the trains rarely come by - but they can come by several times a day, carrying uncovered cars of coal and pet coke (oil refinery waste); look up the article about this train line in The Guardian. Some of the "live work" businesses do not have people living there and are engaged in unregulated activity which the manager ignores. I could go on; save yourself a bad experience and don't think about moving in. read more

Pros and cons: Pros - 1. Price is somewhat reasonable. However, be aware that the manager up-charges new tenets. Cons - 1. Comcast. Comcast is the only internet provider at this establishment. The manager created a self imposed monopoly on the property. The Comcast service was "shotty" at best. Coupled with faulty plugs and outlets in the "new" building made that whole experience terrible. 2. Water damage. The one week throughout the year it rains and all of the windows and walls leak. Major water damage was done to the walls and it took over three weeks for someone to come out and "fix" the problem. So about a month later it rains for a few more days and the problem still exists. Don't really low if it was ever truly fixed, due to the drought. 3. Floor damage. The concrete floor of the unit was beyond cheaply done. Which - I suppose - follows the M.O for this place. Within months of living in their unit the floor began to chip and crack. As I stated above, this unit was apparently "new". 4. The manager is either always or never there. The onsite manager is always around intruding on your space. Don't leave the door unlocked because he will waltz right in unannounced. 5. Post office problems. USPS as been one of the worst, most difficult problems with this place. New tenets be advised! The units at artisan cove are zoned improperly and when you try and forward your address to a new residents USPS will deny you. I have spent months trying to talk with all parties involved and no progress has been made. I am still having problems with the mail. 6. Freight Trains galore! Next to the problems with USPS, there are two heavily used freight train rails that pass on both sides of the lofts that have caused more issues than one could imagine. We were informed that the trains would be redirected and after months of waiting. We were later told that a redirection was never going to happen. The trains go by 7-12 times a day and a minimum of 3 times a night while you are sleeping. These trains are required by law to honk there horns at rail and street intersections a minimum of 7 times! Some rail cars are required to honk up too 12 times! In the middle of the night. Tenants can not request quiet hours because a business down the road already requested one and that area is only allowed one. The trains are such an issue because they are about 50 feet from the building. 7. Unprofessional manor - "gossip". I have never witnessed adults act in such a childish manner as I have living at artisan cove. From management to the other tenants everyone gossips and enjoys talking behind people's backs. My main concern is the major unprofessionalism of the office management. 8. Be aware of false advertising. This place may be "owned" by a "family" but it is not managed by family. This fact shows through when tenant receive little respect from management. 9. The overall construction of the building is cheap. The building already had major issues and it will get worse in the upcoming years. One in part because there is no on site handyman. So getting anyone to fix a problem takes forever. 10. This place was down right miserable. I'm glad this is now over and I hope whoever wants to live at artisan cove looks at this review and thinks twice. read more

The building is "new" yet it was built extremely cheap. When it rains, water soaks through the cracks and windows. [This has yet to be fix completely} One of our neighbors had ants crawling through the walls and hanging out upstairs. Another neighbor had a mouse due to the workers leaving a sandwich in the rafters. A third neighbor had some property stolen. The downstairs has a garage door that was broken into and their computer and other items were taken (check the police reports). A few more breakins have been attempted as well. [Camera's have not been installed yet, like we were told] There is a train directly NEXT to the property. When we contacted the landlord, he simply states "I am working on it. They are supposed to be stopping soon and rerouting." This hasn't been the case and we have had countless nights of the train horn waking us up. [Landlord is working to get a Quiet Zone established, was supposed to be in effect in November] This is listed as a "live/work" space, yet the electricity is not properly wired for things in the bottom floor. Their is also TWO parking spaces for each unit...if you have a business, where can your customers park? There is absolutely NO street parking and the landlord offers the handicap spots... except cops can still write tickets for that. [More buildings are being constructed with additional parking] All of the pictures you see on the web site are accurate, including the horrendous flooring. You must pay extra for carpet or different flooring. Although the price listed for 2-3 bedrooms is one thing, they charge you a riduclous amount of money to put up walls to make the extra bedrooms. The best thing about this place is that it seems secluded. You really only have your neighbors around (besides the various customers for the businesses). For the price that we pay, this place is absolutely NOT worth it. We are not within walking distance of anything at all. Once you cross the highway, you are in bad parts of Richmond. We heard a gun shot that seemed extremely too close. The next day on the news, a man was shot in a liquor store less than a mile away. read more

I love my living space and the beautiful surrounding area. I am only few blocks away from the beautiful Marina with its awesome view and clean air. Everyone that comes to visit loves how my unit looks. The management is positive and supportive and they try to do as much as they can to support ventures. They are working actively to establish positive and fun filled community. Come join me and live and work in this wonderful place, please! In addition to warm, friendly and willing to work on issues management team, we have some really cool tenants here. We have been here for two years and we really enjoy it. The management has been very helpful and allowed us to choose the configuration of our office since it is new construction. Parking is limited, however management has made sure we all have parking and they are currently putting in more parking spaces. We are close to the train but it has become less of an issue since the trains decreased and a sound wall went up. The location is great for our clients since the bus route comes near here and the 580 exit and entrance is very close. The location is also very close to the bay trail and a couple great places to have lunch or dinner. read more

Artisan Cove offers beautiful live/work spaces with great opportunities for small growing businesses. It is located near many great restaurants and the marina bay trail is just down the street. The 580 is easily accessible from this location and everything is within a few minutes drive. And the management is great. read more

We have been at Artisan Cove for 2 years now. Its a great location for our clients and workers since its right next to 580 and just down the street from the Bay Trail. Since its new construction we were able to work with the management to configure a floor plan that worked for us. There are some trains that pass by but they have put up a sound wall and the trains have decreased significantly since we first moved in. We have had some trouble with parking spaces; however management has really helped us with making sure everyone has somewhere to park during this new phase of construction and we have been told that there will be a lot more parking spaces available after construction has ended. read more
