I can't say enough wonderful things about this dance studio and the instructors here. They are friendly, kind and encouraging. From the first day I attended class I felt welcomed. Even if I feel low energy before showing up, just being here I find myself laughing, having fun and feeling so freely joyful. I really appreciate how attuned the instructors are at not only teaching the generic dance steps, but also really seeing what will benefit each student, and teaching accordingly. I'm someone who cares most about the feeling and essence of the dance - I love feeling inspired while dancing, and I really feel this here. I've had the most experience dancing with instructors Ryan, Danielle and Josh and am smiling and laughing with every lesson and class. But all of the instructors seem wonderful. The Arthur Murray method of dance instruction is a simple, modular approach that anybody (for example, me) can learn. The staff is amazing. They take a personal interest in students and adapt lessons to the student's goals and abilities. They offer helpful fixes and tailored "homework" assignments. Communications and follow-ups from staff are timely, considerate and helpful. While the individual lessons aren't cheap, the combined package of lessons, group instruction and dance parties works out to be reasonable. There is a lot of emphasis on competitive dance routines and special events but social dancers are more than welcome. read more

My soon-to-be husband and I took 2 private lessons and 1 group lesson at Arthur Murray in Ventura last month. We were a little nervous but Anthony was our instructor and he was so wonderful! Patient, fun, and upbeat he broke every movement into simple counts and corrected mis-steps with positivity. We learned basic steps for the waltz, samba, and swing. We were really comfortable with what we had learned by the end of our 2nd private lesson. My only point of uncomfort was the group lesson. I had assumed it would be my fiancé and I taking a group class together as a couple. Instead it was spent mostly apart, changing partners with others in the group after each new step. I would have preferred to have more practice together as a couple. We probably wouldn't attend another group class but we would absolutely go back for more private lessons before our wedding! If you are thinking about taking lessons at Arthur Murray Ventura I would recommend it! We learned a lot quickly and the atmosphere is very friendly. read more

I'm really surprised that no one has written a review for this incredible place yet! Arthur Murray Dance Studio happens to be right around the corner from our apartment, so it was sort of a no-brainer when it came to looking for a place to learn a Waltz for our "first dance". When I called to make an appointment, I spoke with Amanda, who listened to the whole story behind my song choice and then proceeded to watch the YouTube video with me on the phone. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend. That's definitely a good thing. When we showed up for our class, we were greeted by several warm and gracious people who all introduced themselves to us. Shelby was our instructor and she made us feel so comfortable and excited about what we were learning! The whole staff is encouraging, supportive, and helpful. I'm so happy that we found this place... and when we're done learning this dance, I hope to continue learning Swing and Salsa!! read more

We started taking lessons at Arthur Murray Ventura almost 4 years ago with a small introductory package given to us by our kids. What a wonderful time we have had! Our initial goal was to become comfortable with a few ballroom dances, but we have really discovered a friendly place to relax, exercise, enjoy good company and reenergize after a long day at work. The professional staff of dance instructors are all talented dancers themselves and clearly enjoy passing on their expertise in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Between the one on one lessons where individual instruction is tailored to our specific needs to the group lessons where we get the chance to practice a few selected steps with different partners, we have quickly gained confidence in our dancing and a whole new group of friends that truly feels like family. Not only can you receive one- on-one private lessons but every weeknight they offer group classes included in the fee so you can continue to work on technique and learn new dances. To put your new skills into play, there are two dance parties weekly with teachers and participants from many skill levels who are more than willing to dance with all party goers, newcomers as well as old timers. As a senior, I discovered ballroom dancing at 63 years old and now, two years later wish I had walked into this studio ten years ago! Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Ventura is a great place to learn to dance. You can go by yourself, or as a couple. I bought a Groupon that included 2 private lessons, 1 group lesson, and 1 dance party. The studio is very nice, and easy to find. They have an upbeat, warm, and welcoming staff of excellent dancers. My instructor was Seth. He was enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging as he led me through the basic steps to the Waltz, Rumba, Salsa, and Cha Cha. Amanda led the group lesson. She guided the group through the basic steps to the Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, and Swing. We rotated partners to practice the steps. Amanda did a good job directing the group while also watching each individual to make sure everyone was keeping up. The group lesson was followed by a dance party where we could practice the steps we learned with instructors, and other students. This was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. If I could, I would go there once or twice a week! I would enthusiastically recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn to dance. Whether or not you have any dance experience, you will come out of it having learned something, and having had a great time! read more

This studio and it's staff are fantastic! They are knowledgable, friendly, and engaging. They make newcomers feel welcome and regulars are part of the family. Instructors are engaging and know how to teach students. My husband and I started lessons to dance at our God-daughter's wedding and we signed on for more because we enjoy dancing and love the staff at Arthur Murray-Ventura! I started at this studio some seven years ago. Although I had a lot to learn, I also had a lot to =un-learn= after years of group classes in community centers and hotel meeting rooms. At this Arthur Murray studio, the combination of group and private classes allowed me to achieve my goal: to be a "competent social dancer." My instructors were kind and patient, even when they "worked me hard," as I had asked them to do. What was an experiment in perceived futility quickly morphed into an amazing experience. Little did I know, this dance studio is lead by the renowned, Icelandic ballroom champion!
