They have a great community, classes are fun, and all of the folks (staff + other students) are friendly. I just so happen to have signed up when they were running a promotion and signed up for the more classes immediately. I have been going for the past couple of months and always leave feeling good about the class. There was a full blown show at the end of the season in Majestic theatre. That was fun to see all of the other classes (adults and children) . Highly recommend visiting. Meredith and team are awesome!

We stopped in for the free class of creative movement and what started as nerves and sitting around for the first half of the class to fully engaged the second half. After that trial she couldn't stop talking about it. We enrolled into the classes and it's been a blast to start each saturday with this. The instructors are patient and keep classes rolling and are very engaging to get those who aren't feeling the early morning start. I can't wait to see what the program has to offer and the ease and flexibility of everything makes it too simple.

As a parent one always wants to indulge their children in the cute little things life offers. We asked the owner a simple question and she replied it's in the hand out. We asked her for help logging onto her website she replied, "Everyone else can do it." We took our child out and as she grew older we decided to give it another try. We found ourselves in the same dilemma. The owner is very condescending when one asks for help. I will never go to this place again. As an adult I am not in the practice of paying someone to be arrogant, condescending or rude to my family.

~ FLOATING SHAVASANA WAS ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL ~…read more I've always wanted to try aerial yoga, and I'm so glad that my first experience was at the Aerial Studio. I booked the Intro to AIReal Yoga class through ClassPass, with Kristen O' Briant as the instructor. You can either bring your own mat or use one provided by the studio. They offer both aerial and AIReal Yoga classes that use hammocks in the practice. Our class took place in the back of the room, where a beautiful array of hammocks was set up. Kristen was an amazing instructor--she took special care of beginners, ensured we were making safe moves, and offered modifications when needed, all while providing encouragement and still challenging us. As an avid yogi, these hammocks really helped deepen my asanas, and I enjoyed this fresh approach. The highlight for me was the floating shavasana. Normally, I struggle to fully relax during the final shavasana in traditional yoga classes, but this experience was magical. Swaying gently and being cocooned in the hammocks - like a butterfly before it transforms or a baby in a womb - made it the most relaxed I've ever been during shavasana. A couple notes for the studio: during the first half of the class, there was also a children's class happening at the same time. It wasn't too disruptive but did occasionally make it hard to focus and be present. Also, dimming the lights during the final shavasana would enhance the atmosphere as well as show off the beautiful twinkle lights strung above the rafters. I highly recommend this experience and am looking forward to my next class! *HOT TIP: This was my first visit to Pacific View Mall, and I had trouble finding the studio. The studio is located inside the mall and between Old Navy and American Eagle.

I personally can't get my daughter to class during the week so we love that Saturday classes are offered. The instructors Chevelle & Kelyla are always welcoming and treat you like extended family. They really take the time behind the scenes to put together great performances from the dance to the costumes to the in house picture day always well thought out. We will be apart of this dance family for years to come.

I think she's one of the owners and walked me through the store and explained all sorts of classes they offer. I'm interested in Tahitian workshop that they newly added and once I figure out my schedule I would love to join the class. She explained that all the instructors are very culturally correct and that's very important to me when it comes to learning. The floor has a pretty large space enough for probably 10-15 students to dance in. I would love to watch the drumming as well. As for the Tahitian class, I was told that they have anywhere from 5-10 drummers and that's very exciting! I can't wait to see/hear it soon! I parked in the next block but I saw plenty of street parking and it's right on Main St. and was easy to find. It totally took me instantly back to my Burning Man experiences...can't wait till that either...

I've been dancing and growing with NEMA for about two semesters now, and it's honestly made the…read moremove here so much easier. I moved to Oxnard from northern California, so I didn't have a whole lot of friends down here. I found out about NEMA through the Bellydance club at Oxnard CC and decided to give it a try in an attempt to get more exercise and boost my self esteem. I got way more than I bargained for! Besides the exercise and a regular reminder that I'm a beautiful woman, I got a group of friends who have stuck by me through all the challenges of being in a new place, and a breakup I went through. Not only that, but I got study buddies, confidence boosting moments on stage, and endless moments of love and laughter. I'm so glad NEMA came into my life when it did I like doing the classes on the weekends the most, but sometimes the night classes work with my busy schedule too. The teachers are all really experienced and offer a wide selection of different dances to learn. The studio is comfy and chic with a well stocked tea and snack bar that they stock with the help of member donations. Sometimes I find kids playing in the back and watching cartoons while their mom's dance (super kid friendly place) and their costume selection makes me feel like a little girl playing dress up! The best part is that I can go study there if I really need it, and because so many of the members are college graduates and students, I can often find help when I need it. The whole place is the definition of supportive and community based.
