The dance instructors at Arthur Murray are impeccable! Everyone has so much fun and life! My fiancée and I have been doing dance lessons here for the past few months and Rachel, Aaron, Kaitlyn, and Sydney have been amazing with us! They have given us the confidence and encouragement to tackle our first dance for our wedding! We have loved every instructor and class we've taken! My wife and I have discussed dance classes for five years or so, but never could seem to make it happen. (Strangely enough, our four year old daughter can't seem to figure out why we haven't been able to go until now either.) Well, recently a groupon offer came up around the time for the wife's birthday and I jumped at the chance to get started. The studio is in the upstairs of the row of shops that are just north of the tracks on Pflumm. Once you park in the lot, you'll walk north on the sidewalk to the entrance on the Pflumm side of the building, then head upstairs. Once inside, we were met by Darren and Monica, filled out a brief questionnaire about what we were interested in doing/learning, and were on the floor in no time at all. Darren was wonderful. His easy and relaxed instruction style helped us work through the jitters. He quickly helped us through the basics of a couple of different steps and helped us comfortably laugh at our mistakes, or missteps, in this case. After the lesson, we sat down to discuss where we should go with the lessons and how we should get there. We're not looking to be on the "Dancing with the Who's That?" type shows, but would like to be proficient in the basics of several dances and that's what we're getting. The studio has a deal going now where you get 6 (45min) private lessons, 3 (45min) group lessons, and 3 practice parties for $550 when paid all at once. The private lessons are packed with instruction and technique, so weigh that. It seems like a lot of money, and don't get me wrong - it is, but we learned a whole lot in a short span of time and are looking forward to going back. read more

I enjoyed a group-lesson event here, the studio is really nice and the hosts were quite good at teaching us (a group of a couple dozen, all different levels of experience) several dances. The practice party was a blast too. My only gripe was that the air conditioning wasn't keeping up, the room got uncomfortably warm (and this was before the serious heat wave started, it wasn't unusually hot outside.) Other than that little detail, definitely worth checking out if you want to learn some new dance skills. read more

We took dance lessons here a few times before our weddings and they are decent. Dance instructors are nice enough but they do the hard sell on buying months if lessons which we declined but my parents bought. They had fun and learned a few new dances but the paid a lot of money for the sessions. I was not overly impressed with our lessons so I didn't buy a package or additional lessons past the wedding ones. Just beware of high pressure sell tactics. read more

In my opinion, THE BEST place to learn ballroom dance! I have been taking lessons with Arthur Murray KC since September of 2015 and still love it to this day. KC Arthur Murray's has highly professional instructors and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn to dance or to build on dance skills that they already have. I've been taking dance lessons (individual and group) and attending dance parties here for several years. When I started, I had few dance skills and no confidence on the dance floor. My initial goal in signing up was modest, I just wanted to learn some jive steps. Over the course of my lessons, I not only learned those basic jive steps, but also dances such as tango, rhumba, foxtrot, waltz, and cha cha. Now when I'm asked to dance at a party or other event, I can confidently reply "Yes!" During the time I've been taking lessons at KC Arthur Murray's, I've been offered a variety of different lesson packages and dance opportunities. Some I've purchased, some I haven't. I've never felt pressured by any of the staff into purchasing something I didn't want. The lesson packages are a good value, considering that in addition to a private lesson the price includes several group classes and parties each week and that the instructors are dedicated and experienced professionals. Going to the studio for an individual lesson, class, or party is always a high point of my day. read more

Such a fun time! My cheeks hurt so much from all the smiling I did! It was a blast spending that time with my husband and learning something new together as newly weds. I took lessons here for a few months. First the good. The teacher are really nice and encouraging. They explain things well and make sure everyone has fun and gets to dance. I would never say that they don't hire good teachers. The main thing that kept me from going back was the huge price tag. They charge $135 per "unit" aka, private lesson, and tend to pressure you to take weekly private lessons, so you're spending at least $540 a month if you do that. It does come with unlimited group classes, which is nice but they are only 45 mins and it was just too far of a drive for me. I also felt they taught so many different group lessons on different classes at random times in the month to keep you from really ever truly learning one dance really well. With all the dance options in Kansas City, overall I would recommend to a friend that they go to a place that allows drop in classes instead, at least someplace that doesn't require a contract. read more

I'm 61 years of age! This should give you Warning about unwilling to try new things. I called kc Arthur Murray about their special. The manager ended the conversation with--The hardest step is actually coming to the studio. I am in a wedding in October and needed a lot of help to not look like a klutz. After the wedding I will keep taking lessons. Listen to their reco's about muscle memory, practice and group lessons that will give you confidence not only about dancing but also makes you confident about the next steps in your life. Younger couples or singles this is absolutely a must for a person to have a fun time and meet new people. The studio makes you feel like family and cares about your struggles to learn. I've done it so can you. There is many choices to learn to dance in Kc. I've used three. I drive the farthest to dance here. What a trip-journey to take to finally learn to dance! read more

The instructors are more than just teachers, they are friends and are supportive, encouraging, and look forward to seeing you! With a relaxed atmosphere, and energetic instructors and students, this is the best kind of learning environment! They teach the basics first, which to some may feel like you are not learning much, but it really builds your foundation in dancing.
