I'm not a mom who is looking to get her kid into hard-core, serious, competitive dance (although they have the trophies to back that up, if that is what you're looking for). I'm just a mom who wanted a social environment for her toddler who loves music, and loves dancing around the house. We did the little 6-week summer classes, and we loved it. We do not have a lot of disposable income. At all. So anything I sign my kid up for, I have to really consider. There's a lot of things we can't afford, but re-enrolling for fall classes wasn't even a question. It may sound silly to say after just 6 classes, but this place already feels like home. Warm and inviting doesn't even begin to cover it. My daughter loves it. I love it. I had no idea I'd have such strong feelings about a dance company after 6 weeks, but here we are.

For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.

I grew up dancing, all the way through college, and think Jody's is a top notch studio. Parents do get to check in on their young kids in class through a window. As most parents know sometimes the distraction of parents can make it difficult to control a class, so this is a great solution. You can peak in on your child without them really seeing you. And should my daughter ever have a real problem in class I know the staff will come get me. I have attended several watch days for my daughters class as well. As far as not being allowed to take pictures or video it's for the students safety I believe and appreciate that other people cannot take pictures or video of my daughter and post them online without my permission or knowledge. It's all about privacy and how to protect children. Obviously Jody's goes way beyond little kid class they have well rounded programs for all ages and levels. I went in for a drop-in beginner's class and ended up with a couple of girls who were also there for new year, new you and my husband. Then we moved to the silks where we attempted to climb them and then maneuver a hold. After that we tried our hands at different moves on the trapeze. Let me tell you, it was just as hard as I thought it would be! She recommended letting your hands sit in ice water for 10 minutes as it would help with the swelling (yikes!). If you decide to try it out just remember that you will use muscles you don't normally use, your hands will hurt and feel raw, you will be super sore, and you will feel great about yourself! She even mentioned they have had bachelorette parties come in! How much fun would that be!?
