If you're looking for a barre studio, or you've done yoga/pilates and you're looking for a fun but serious workout studio, this studio should definitely be on your list. Instructors I would recommend to be sure you have a great experience are Lauren, Morgan, and Erin. From the first day I came, they knew my name and gave personalized feedback on how to do better. That said, I rated a bit lower than I normally would because there have been a few very negative experiences here that made me not want to go back. It was mainly just being unnecessarily rude? Which is out of character because the primary things I love about my favorite instructors here is how attentive, encouraging, and detail-oriented they are. If you want examples of the negative experiences I've had, I won't be exhaustive but one example is when I brought a friend to class. Whoever was manning the front desk completely ignored us, and when I asked which room class was in that day, she corrected me on which instructor's class it was without answering the question. My friend felt really unwelcome and I felt terrible that it was her first experience with barre.

It is an exercise I can see myself doing 20, 30 years from now. I love the inter-generational mix of the classes and I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to take class with me.

Maybe it's the membership options which in my opinion were very confusing to understand however, it is to be noted your first class is complimentary and I did not feel rushed or talked into a membership at the end. Also, this studio is part of Class Pass so, you can experience this energetic, engaging, challenging cardio workout with Class Pass Credits. My instructor Cal was upbeat and very knowledgeable with incredible skill in dance as well as a loud, carrying voice for conveying the moves well. He broke down the class in easy to understand sections and offered variations as well as, didn't judge when I had to take breathers since my cardio endurance isn't the best. The class I chose as my first free class was a class labeled straight "DANCE" on the schedule, opposed to dance and bands and circuit classes. I liked the format of this class because it was cardio heavy with 3-4 longer dance bursts to learn choreography that was compiled together at the end to learn a proper combo. The in-between sections consisted of strength training and stretching exercises that Cal taught to the class in his awesome peppy demeanor! He kept us all active and engaged all class. I found this class a great deal challenging and definitely would go back with my class pass and try it again.

First off, I have never taken an actual yoga class in my life. I way prefer the privacy of my own home, where I can wear my old sweats, stop and go as I please, and most importantly, there's no one there to laugh when I fall and make a huge ass out of myself ;) Anyways, I will totally admit that I have always been crazy intimidated when it comes to just walking into a yoga studio. I can never figure out what level class is best for me, I don't want to irritate anyone and be in the way of the pros, and I prefer to just disappear into the background when a move is beyond me - and def not be called out in front of everyone. Anyways, at this studio the classes are for all levels - so there was no need to play a guessing game trying to figure out which one would work for me. And Gretchen...man, she was cool. I felt totally comfortable w/ her - in fact, I told her right off the bat that I was worried my scoliosis was screwing w/ some of my poses. She even made sure during class to point out the poses that would be most affected by it, and made the necessary adjustments. During one of the classes I even had the opportunity to do some partner work, and with Gretchen's help tried some poses - like a handstand - that I doubt I would just try w/ anyone else. In the end, I got exactly what I came here for. I didn't need to worry about bringing a suitcase filled w/ props - I just came right from my hotel, grabbed a mat, and was ready to go. Everyone in the class was welcoming - I didn't feel like I was stepping on anyone's toes, and I truly felt all levels were welcome. I learned new things and gained the confidence that I was on the right path in terms of my practice - and I appreciated the positive feedback and adjustments Gretchen made to my poses. I was able to pick up a few tips and after being home for just a week, I've learned that a few minor adjustments can make a world of difference. So...I have a feeling that for the time being I'll still be a stay-at-home yogi, but next time I'm in the neighborhood I will definitely be back.
