I had oral surgery to hopefully fix some bone/tissue loss from a tooth with an existing root canal. Dr Nima provided options and did the surgery. It went well and surprisingly didn't hurt while my gum was healing. The front desk was transparent as to what I'm expected to pay. However, they were quite off on giving their best guest estimate of how much outside pathology would charge me for evaluation. I went ahead thinking that it will just be around $100 but got a $320 invoice. It seems to me that they should be more knowledgeable about the pathology fees especially that they use the same one every time. read more

Dr Gage charged me almost $2000 for a root canal. The tooth cracked in half and now I need an implant. The money spent on the root canal was a total waste. I didn't expect a full refund but a partial refund or even a return of my phone call would have been appreciated and shown some level of care for the patient and his quality of work. read more

I had a root canal done at this office about 2 months ago and everything went great until I received my bill. I got a quote for $150 and the bill came for $1123. The office failed to adjust my quote with the information I provided before my procedure. I was able to negotiate down to $500 with no help from the office. I was referred to Dr. Gage by my regular dentist as I'd been experiencing pain in one of my molars. Nervous at the prospect of having to have my first root canal, Dr. Gage's approach really helped to reassure me. When first evaluated, he diagnosed the issues as "cracked tooth syndrome" and didn't think we should go forward with a root canal at that point. I love that he has a conservative approach and doesn't automatically head towards a major procedure. But he made it clear if the pain escalated, I could come back. Long story short, after several visits over about a 6 month period, I finally needed the root canal. Dr. Gage has an excellent bedside manner and is incredibly patient and answered all my questions (there were many!) thoroughly. He carefully explains everything that will happen during the procedure so there are no surprises. His dental assistant, Zalea was also super nice and caring - she knew I was terribly nervous and calmed me down. Before your root canal, they offer an iPod where you can choose a CD from a list they provide. This was perfect for me as I could listen to some soothing tunes and turn the volume up to offer distraction and drown out the drill. The procedure was done quickly and relatively painlessly (the only minor pain felt was when he administered the shots with local anesthetic). Before I knew it, the procedure was complete. After about 2 weeks while waiting for my crown appt with my reg dentist, I ended up biting down on a cookie just so and managed to cause a good chunk from the affected tooth to shear off. In a panic, I called Dr. Gage and his messaging service took down what had happened and contacted the doctor who called me back within 10 mins. This was the second time I had needed to contact the doctor during off hours and both times he was quick to respond and very accommodating (he was able to squeeze me in the following days without an appt). After the issue with the broken tooth was resolved, his office even called me later that evening to follow up - WOW, that kind of care hardly ever happens these days! No one is ever really happy that they have to see a dentist...especially if it's for something less routine, like a root canal. But if you have to see an endodontist, I hope you can see Dr. Gage as he is amazing - professional, kind, patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. Oh, and did I mention he went to UCLA for his dentistry degree (Gooooo, Bruins!)? If you're in an unfortunate position where you need a root canal, I highly recommend Dr. Gage - he and his staff will take excellent care of you. read more

Referred to Dr. Gage by my dentist for a couple root canal procedures that I had put off having for way too long. Most people can attest to having unpleasant experiences when going to the dentist, myself included. However, not the case with the two root canals that Dr. Gage performed. Very minimal discomfort, and I wasn't in pain at all during either of the procedures. Highly recommend Dr. Gage. Would have given more than 5 stars if that was possible. I would suggest asking the receptionist to contact your dental insurance provider before having work done, to get pre-approved for what is covered. The estimated coverage amounts provided by the receptionist are basically just guesses. read more

I visited Dr. Gage a few days ago for a consultation. I was absolutely amazed at the amount of time he spent with me. When he was done, he asked if I had questions. Three days later I'm in the chair. Again Dr. Gage explained what he would be doing and the expected outcome. He was assisted by Zalia. This is THE TEAM. Zalia explained the safety glasses, the "dam", the novacaine and all the other things that went on all at once. I was referred by Dr. Meckes, whom I dearly love for his skill and kindness, so I knew I was getting the best. Dr. Gage is very very good. I had previously been to an endodontist for a tooth pain evaluation, and the dental assistant performed the testing to determine if I needed a root canal. Then I met with the doc for 5 minutes. "Root canal", like that's what he said for every patient. Dr. Gage performs the evaluation himself. Not not only does he have excellent communication skills, he has such depth of understanding of endodontics. It really helps when he explains his recommendation. I will start by saying that I have a negative 10 pain tolerance and was willing to go five years with periodic pain than to have a root canal. Finally, it became too much and I had to face the truth and have it done. I contacted my dentist to get a referral to an endodontist. He recommended Dr Gage. I contacted Dr Gage's office on a Friday and I was able to go on the following Monday for a consultation. I explained to Dr Gage's assistant that I was very nervous about going through with the procedure and she reassured me that I would be fine. After taking x-rays, I met the doctor. His bedside manner calmed me. After doing an exam, he gave me a few options with a root canal as one. I knew I didn't want an extraction. He also gave me the option to take a medication the night before and an hour before the appointment to help calm me. I chose to do that. On Friday I was ready for my appt. I expected to have some pain during the procedure but it didn't happen. The entire appointment was fast and painless. I was so surprised because I had heard horror stories about getting a root canal. If I ever need another one, I would definitely call Dr Gage's office. Now getting the crown at my dentist's office was a bit painful LOL read more

I had the pleasure of being a new patient at Beach Endodontics today for a consultation, referred by my personal dentist Dr Mark Meckes. I knew there was a good possibility that I would be having root canal. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very pleasant front office staff which informed me that I was actually booked with Dr Alexa C Martin not Dr Gage which came as a surprise to me. I really was only booked for a consult so I proceeded with the necessary paperwork which was not overwhelming at all. Once meeting with Dr Martin DMD ( Harvard woman) I felt totally at ease and confident that she could perform any procedure necessary. After additional xrays she sat with me to discuss my opinions without pressure either way. I felt so confident in her that I decided to go ahead with the root canal. I think most people are a little frightened of even hearing "root canal". She assured me it would be pain free and it absolutely was!!! Her assistant was excellent with informing me what would be happening as was Dr Martin. I have to say this was the best, least stressful dental procedure I have ever had. Dr. Gage has performed two root canal retreatments on two different teeth in the last 1 1/2 years. He thoroughly explains the procedure and why it is necessary. I asked as many questions as necessary to understand the process; Dr. Gage was happy to answer my questions and to elaborate as necessary. Horrible there!!! They never called & checked on me after a major procedure & Dr. Gage was very Arrogant & not caring at all for me & the pain I was in. He's all about the money $$$ & could care a less about the patient!!!!! BEWARE when they tell you that you are paid in full for your service too because months later they will try & bill you for more, even if it is just a couple of dollars (very petty). Please know your insurance well & what your insurance coverages are & don't let this dental office take your hard earned money$$$!!!! I would suggest find a caring dentist & let him get the money$$$ from you are your insurance for doing a good & caring job on your tooth or teeth. I had a root canal done on a rear molar which I'm told is not the easiest to do.Dr Gage took time to explain everything including the 3D CT scanner. The entire procedure was painless and only took about an hour. I put the headphones on and almost fell asleep. Before I knew it he was finished.I had to return for the second phase and again no pain and it took less time. Dr Gage is awesome.I highly recommend him. read more

I tend to be a tough grader on most things but if I could have given Dr. Gage and his office a 6, I would have done so. What a professional! Unlike most of his patients, I was a self-referral; my dentist uses a different network and having experienced them (negatively), I decided to set out on my own. After much research and some discussions with people who have used Dr. Gage before, this was the direction I set out on. I wish I could have seen him a little earlier in the game but at the time I scheduled my first visit, I was not in any distress. That didn't hit me until I was out of town on a brief vacation, at which time, I was in so much pain that I would have pulled the tooth out myself! During my first visit, he very calmly gave me my options. Obviously, I already knew which option I would take but it was refreshing that he did offer me options, none of which came with a "scare" or "money" factor (I am a self-pay). I arrived for my root canal at the appointed time and his assistant was very quick to prep me. Within 15 minutes of the two injections, I was ready to go and the entire procedure took less than 40 minutes! I was literally out the door in 45! No pain or discomfort whatsoever! In fact, as I was walking to the car, I said to my driver "did that just happen"? BTW, for self-pay patients, his rates are MOST reasonable. It's not like I would do this on a regular basis but in the future, if my general dentist tells me to have something looked at by an endodontist, I'm not going to break out in a cold sweat. Was referred by my denstist... what a fantastic referral! Everything is fantastic from the office environment down to the final work done! You are greeted by wonderful friendly staff that make you feel comfortable. Every detail is specifically explained to the pin point. Dr. Gage is up most professional and makes you feel at ease. Again, explains every aspect in full complete detail. I had a root canal done and I was comforted by Iza (I think this was her name) making certain along with Dr. G that I do not feel ANY pain. She was extremely detailed and comforting (even gave my a mini massage during the needle anesthetic was being inserted. I was given a playlist of tunes to choose from on their complimentary Ipod (5 thumbs up by the way) and tinted safety glasses for the debris and light. Very comforting! Honestly, this was the BEST root canal I have had. If I could give 10 stars I would! HIGHLY recommend this office. Oh, and I went to work right after the 1 hour long procedure... slightly sore the next day but NO massive pain of any kind. (keep in mind everyone has a different reaction) read more
