I haven't even had my first appointment, but I have talked to their office staff 3 times, and each time the staff was horrible and rude. All I've been trying to do is make an appointment as a first time patient. They are dismissive, one seemed to speak as fast as she possibly could, which was a problem because she was giving me information on an appointment. I've already waited 4 months for the appointment, so I'll keep it while I find a different doctor. read more

Avoid Arthritis Consultants ( AC)! Would give them zero stars if possible. The office staff is rude. Be aware they will cancel your appointment if you have perfume or lotion on. It is in their compliance statement that you do not use these prior to coming to their office. The wrist bp cuff is inaccurate. Kept telling the girl checking me in that it is off to no avail. My care was less than adequate..... What AC doesn't t tell you is that the provider you're placed with is the ONLY PERSON you are allowed to see or talk to. Unfortunately I got placed with a PA. At first I questioned her, that if I felt I needed to see one of the doctors in the practice, was that possible? She said yes, and that she would be discussing my care with them as well. Wish I would have known that was NOT TRUE! 1 1/2 years later my symptoms are worse. More pain, more inflammation, and none of the meds she prescribed have helped. I've gotten serious side effects from them instead. I asked to talk to one of the doctors as my care was going no where. I've seen her every three months.... nothing helped. I got a phone call from their very rude office manager the day following my last visit that I was no longer their patient. Apparently, questioning your care is not allowed! Also at this practice you don't have the option to not take a medication they want to prescribe, as that was given as a reason for the termination of care. The med was methotrexate, it has known severe side effects and there are other safer meds available. The PA and doctor supposedly discussed my condition. The office had a new practice to refer me to. No thanks! I told them I would find my own provider, which I did, and they could send my records to them. Multiple people told me this was their experience at AC. I should have listened! Saved my money and time and gone somewhere else! DO NOT GO HERE! There are much better, caring Rheumatologists in the area. I was immediately seen at a new practice by a DOCTOR, no PAs at this practice! Don't let them convince you that a PA has the same training or expertise... they obviously DO NOT!! Wasted hundreds of dollars for nothing! Found out they drop people from AC regularly, if you have not been seen in a year or question medsir treatment prescribed! She is glad they dropped her as she is now being cared for by a new caring doctor in Reno. Go to Renown or Minden for Rheumatology care. You will be listened to and respected as a patient and be able to discuss options for your care with your doctor, not be TOLD what to do with your own body! I had an extremely upsetting experience with this office. The receptionist was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. When I politely asked her name, she became defensive, refused to give it, and hung up on me. This is unacceptable. I called with real questions, hoping for clarity and support. Instead, I was met with hostility, disrespect, and unprofessionalism. She had the nerve to tell me there is no cure for my condition. That is not only false but shockingly irresponsible for a medical office. Update: For the super hostile receptionist who told me there's no cure for what I have -- exactly as I said I would, I found my own cure. Not medication, not their bratty attitude, nothing from this office was needed whatsoever. Thanks for turning me off so much that I solved it myself. Dr. P. Reddy has shown, once more, to be an excellent doctor, caring about the patients during the visit and generally speaking!

I had a referral sent to this office and contacted the office after several weeks. I was put on hold for 9 minutes before my. All was answered . Upon reaching the office and inquiring if my referral had been received the staff was abrupt and informed me that they had 400 patients and were very busy. The person said they only had 1 doctor the entire month of June and would not be reviewing referrals during June. I've never felt as dismissed as I was during the conversation. As a nurse I understand that your office staff can impact patient care as much as a physician. The office staff insures documentation gets where it needs to, prescriptions are sent in a timely manner, and communication is flawless. So I am requesting my referral be sent elsewhere for not only timely care but respectful care. While the doctors may be great at this facility (I will never know) I have little faith in an office staff that were curt, rude, and dismissive. read more

I was referred to Arthritis Consultants by my Primary Care Physician after some red flag markers showed up in my blood work for my annual wellness check. She wanted to eliminate the possibility of Rheumatoid Arthritis or (even worse) Lupus. I feel my time was well spent after a long wait to get into seeing the doctor. I had the good fortune to see Dr Prahlad Reddy. He did an outstanding job of really listening to my concerns and walking me through a series of questions and excellent information regarding the possible diagnosis. At no time during our conversation did I feel rushed, talked down to, or marginalized. He was personable and professional throughout our session. I arrived a little early in case I needed to get paperwork filled out (I did). I was seen very soon after getting all my insurance and ID processed through the office. I didn't even have time to complete the forms that needed to be filled out until after I saw Dr Reddy. That is really good service! At this point I am not anticipating a return visit, however, he did recommend additional lab work just to make sure. I am hoping I don't need to come back, but if I do, I know I will be in good hands. read more

The last review I wrote said I'd been seeing Dr. Reddy for 3 years. It's now 10 years and I want to take this opportunity to tell everyone who may be looking for a rheumatologist that this practice and Dr. Reddy are still the best in Reno As we age we find more and more body parts don't work the way they used to. It's comforting to have a doctor who is willing to listen and discuss things. Even after 10 years Dr. Reddy is willing to do so. As for the practice, I've never seen any other provider there so I have no first hand knowledge. Nothing but positive experiences at this office. Pleasant environment and friendly staff, but the biggest plus? Dr. Reddy. son sees Dr. Reddy on a regular basis and each time, Dr. Reddy is thorough, patient and prompt! I usually accompany my son to this appointments, but when I am unable to go with him, Dr. Reddy calls me to let me know what's going on with my son's condition. He doesn't have his assistant do it, he calls me and I am grateful for that! Whenever my son needs a refill or has a flare-up, Dr. Reddy and his assistant are quick to send prescriptions to the pharmacy so that my son can avoid having to go to urgent care. I cannot review the actual doctor(s) since I did not wish to proceed with scheduling an appointment. The front office staff is incredibly rude. I reached out to Arthritis Consultants multiple times in hopes to schedule an appointment for my mother and every time I spoke with the gal at the front desk she was unfriendly and unhelpful. The next available appointment was four months out which is understandable. However, I did not wish to move forward with scheduling an appointment due to the multiple, unpleasant interactions with the front office staff. I have gout and was in in excruciating pain the prescription was to sent over to the pharmacy and they never received it so I called the office and the front desk said they will send it when they can maybe tomorrow . This doctor gave my mom medicine that caused horrible, near fatal, side effects. While the side-effects of the medication are not his fault, of course, his response to the situation is nothing short of medical mal practice. She had been complaining FOR YEARS about a cough that he simply ignored. He is the specialist in this field and it was his responsibility to look for, and investigate, any known side effects from the medication he was providing. It is LITERALLY his job to take care of his patients. After years of a continuously worsening cough that was nearly fatal, it was a GP who was able to make the connection that it was his RA medication causing the problem. That other doctor saved my mother's life. That alone would be bad enough, however, it gets worse. He refused to accept the reality of what the other doctor was telling him. His office did not answer or return telephone calls to get her on a new medication and it has now been TWO MONTHS that we have been waiting on a signature for him to approve a new medication. The insurance has approved it, the pharmacy already has it, he SIMPLY wont sign the paperwork. WHY? who knows. He DOES NOT ANSWER TELEPHONE CALLS AND HIS STAFF DOES NOT APPEAR TO EITHER. This is nothing short of textbook MEDICAL MALPRACTICE and we will be filing a report, and seeking legal counsel. For your safety and peace of mind, I would recommend avoiding this doctor. read more

The doctors are good and **fairly** responsive. The office staff is unfortunately overwhelmed and completely disorganized, so processing any paperwork like applying for a drug subsidy or similar takes 3 months instead of one week. This is dangerous for obvious reasons and can cause extra suffering. But overall, they are pretty good and obviously there are almost no doctors for autoimmune sufferers in all of Reno, so definitely snatch this up if you get the chance. read more

If you are a new patient Stay Away. This group approved me, confirmed that they accepted my insurance and I had to schedule an appointment 4 months out to get in. One business day before my appointment I get a call to cancel it because the new doctor they assigned me hasn't been accepted yet by United Healthcare. They never should have assigned me to a new doctor assuming that he would eventually be accepted and added. When they called they made like it was my responsibility to negotiate on their behalf with my insurance company to get their doctor approved. There was no ownership of this mistake. They took no responsibility and made no effort to get me in with one of the various other doctors that are covered by my insurance because they are all simply too busy. Thanks Laura for nothing! I had the same experience as Tim S., however they did assign me to another doctor on the same day as my original appt. I saw Dr. Christopher Scully, who assured me that no matter what, he would help me. Even if we were unable to pinpoint a diagnosis he said he would treat my symptoms to help improve my quality of life. However, when my test results came back he stated he no longer wanted to see me, even though he stated that the tests basically mean nothing-I guess I wasn't "sick" enough for him. Don't waste your time with this practice. I'm still looking for another doctor who actually cares for patients. read more

Dr Scully is amazing. After a grueling year of living in severe pain and wishing for death to come quickly I was diagnosed with an incurable autoimmune disease and referred to Dr Scully. Still in shock and terrified of living a life in pain he assured me it was manageable and I could live a full lifespan. He prescribed me medication and promised I would start feeling better in 24 hours. I was skeptical but compliant as I'd seen multiple Drs and was unable to get answers. Sure enough the next day my pain began to lessen and within 48 hours the 104 degree fever I had been living with for a year finally broke. This was 15 years ago and I still see Dr Scully. He is kind and compassionate and straight forward. I am confident that my health is in good hands. Do not hesitate to see Dr Scully for your arthritis or autoimmune disease. read more

I added this business just so I could write a review for Dr. Julie K Thomas. I've seen her for about 5 or 6 years and she's amazing. She is so thorough and will sit in the room with you for an hour talking over any questions you have about medications, blood tests or the symptoms you have. Her assistant, Lisa, is the best medical assistant I've ever dealt with and is really personable. There was an instance where I needed to talk with my doctor as soon as possible even though it was close to 5 on a Friday and Lisa took a detailed message and then Dr Thomas called me back around 6 that night even though they were closed. She is such a nice doctor and really gentle as well. Highly recommend her :) read more

Reddy and were extremely satisfied with his services and time spent with us as new patients. I disagree with the negative reviews. Warning, long review forthcoming... This practice is wonderful! I was diagnosed by my PCP 4+ years ago with an autoimmune disease. When I learned of my lab results and of my diagnosis, I sprung into action in an effort to ease the fear. It is terrifying when you find out you have a chronic, incurable, life threatening disease. PCPs don't typically know very much about autoimmune illnesses or are maybe just reluctant to give advice, either way, my doctor at the time wasn't able to offer much help or advice. She told me I would have to be referred to a Rheumatologist. So I looked at my insurance providers list and probably called all of them. But as specialty providers, there are fewer to choose from and they tend to be scheduled out far into the future. But a couple of people i know told me that they see doctors at A.C., in particular: Drs. Scully and Bachmann and had had nothing but praise for them so I was leaning more towards that office. So I called my PCP and had her send the referral to A.C. and then called to see if I could schedule an appt. The scheduler, after they had received my referral with my labs, had told me that Dr. Scully was the only doctor accepting new patients and he was booked up and was also going on vacation so wouldn't be able to see me for something like 6 months (if I am remembering it correctly). I had already been consulting with Dr. WebMD and Dr. Google about my diagnosis and dreaded the thought of having to wait that long to see a specialist. I knew I would drive myself crazy! Anyway, within about a day or maybe even the same day, Dr. Scully, personally, called me to let me know that he had looked at my labwork and wanted me to come in before he went on vacation. So he scheduled me an appt for the next month. On my first appointment, he explained the particulars of my illness and talked me through all of it. He was reassuring and pragmatic. He spent a lot of time with me and I have never felt rushed. He is no-nonsense but I get the impression that he really cares for his patients. Like all doctors, he encouraged me to quit smoking but he did so without that lecturing tone that so many other doctors adopt. He told me he would help me in whatever way possible to get me to quit (which I did) because my illness makes me far more vulnerable to the effects of nicotine. I left that first day feeling ok and that things weren't nearly as bleak as I thought they were going to be. Like most autoimmune illnesses, all we can do is monitor the progression and treat each new symptom as it arises but I feel like I am in capable hands. There isn't much that can be done to totally eliminate the feeling that I have a ticking time bomb inside and I get the sense that Dr. Scully understands and empathizes. Anyway, long story, short, I have nothing but good things to say about Arthritis Consultants and Dr. Scully, in particular. I would never hesitate to recommend them to my friends or family should the need arise. read more

I love Dr Julie Thomas with Arthirits Consultants. She is very caring and spends the amount of time with you that's necessary. I never feel like she is rushing me. The office staff is impossible to deal with however. When I call to talk to the medical assistant or leave a message for the dr, it is not unuaual to be on hold for 10 to 15 minutes. When they say they will phone in an rx or fax a paper, you most likely will have to call them 3 or 4 times before it gets done. Very frustrating. I am really surprised to see the negative reviews regarding Arthritis Consultants. I have always been treated very well by the office staff, doctor's assistant and Dr. Reddy. My first visit with Dr. Reddy, he spent almost an hour and a half with me. He has always taken the time to talk to me, not just question me, make a decision and send me on my way, but actually talk to me. He has gone over my concerns and explained my treatment. If I need to call the office, his assistant gets right back to me. The office has always helped me with insurance, pharmacies and so forth. I would and have recommended them to anyone in need of a great rheumatologist. A little background: My favorite RA doctor, in the whole world, retired about two years or so ago. When Dr. A. retired I was afraid I would never find a rheumatologist that would care for me and about me like he had. I had been referred to a different doctor whose office staff where rude and inconsiderate. Long story, short: I walked into her office exactly 5 minutes later than they had requested I be there to fill out paperwork. (I called to tell them I'd be a bit late because of road construction.) Mind you, not 5 minutes late for the appointment, but the time requested by them for me to fill out paperwork. They said I could come back the next day, but the doctor wouldn't see me that day because I had been late. I told them I would stay there all day, if I could just see the doctor. (I had taken the day off work, had driven 65 miles and could not take any more time off work.) Their response was, "No, you were late and that is our policy." I packed myself up, made some phone calls and went down to Arthritis Consultants. I told them what had just happened and they made an appointment for me 3 weeks later. I'm surprised to read the negative reviews concerning this medical facility. I have been a patient of Dr. Scully for 15 years or more. He makes me feel like I'm his only patient. His treatments are spot on. I have 2 other friends that go to him and they feel the same way. I am on Medicare and have a secondary insurance with Equitable Life. My only out of pocket expense is a once a year $150.00 deductible for all medical expenses. This does not include prescriptions but Dr. Scully's prescribed meds are very affordable. Sounds like to me that the other complaints have to do with insurance problems, not the quality of care given by the doctors. read more

New patients beware I am an ex patient of this practice my doctor, Julie K Thomas moved out of the area I was told by Dr. Thomas the other doctors in the practice would cover her prescriptions till I could see my new physician. my prescriptions are now due, my appointment with my new physician is 90+ days out. The doctors at arthritis consultants are not writing scripts for Dr. Thomas. As she had stated , after several calls to the nurse at arthritis consultants the answer I got was sorry...... I explained my situation The answer was still "sorry"so if you are looking for relief from arthritis pain. My Doctor Dr. Thomas is wonderful, I completely feel she cares and provides with me the best care, I honestly can't say enough about her, I always leave feeling very taken of, and she always states "we are here for you". HOWEVER the FRONT office staff is terrible! They are the most unfriendly rude people, and down right act like THEY are doing you a favor, when rightly they have a job because of people that have an illness. When you walk in, you literally have to stand in front of the glass window and wait for one the 3 ladies to open the window to check you in, you are shoved with paper work, and a slip of paper to answer, and EVERY time I am asked to show my insurance card (I have been going there for over an year). As I sit and wait for my appointment I witness all patients treated the same way, the only thing that changes is some get asked about their insurance and some don't. It is a very depressing environment. I love my doctor and I am unfortunatly forced to put with with their unfriendly nasty behavior of the front office staff. read more
