They offered a huge variety of items including hot food, tortes, cereals, fruit, cheeses, parfaits, quiches, etc. I enjoyed a latte every morning with them. Our room at Hotel Spadai was excellent. Very spacious with tall ceilings and had plenty of room for us to lay out 2 large pieces of luggage and 2 small carry-ons. The bathroom was big as well, but the shower was disproportionate to it. The shower felt so much smaller, and what's weird was its two double doors. The doors met at the corner of the shower and didn't close all the way, so water could easily escape to the floor. Other than that, I would 1000% stay at this hotel again next time I'm in Florence.

And don't think we have had truffle that blew our mind elsewhere after (including Michelin two and three stars). I can taste the chefs mastery of the ingredients. No dish was overly complicated but each ingredient and sauce just complemented each other perfectly. You feel like you are in the forest where the food comes from. It's one of the meals I remember the most vividly, even after 4 years. Even on our culinary journey throughout Italy, this was a clear highlight. I was checked into the front room right off the lobby and never had any issues with noise. The lady that checked me in and was mainly working at the desk noticed that I seemed a bit lethargic and was very nice about asking how I felt and if I needed anything. The bed was comfortable and the room was HUGE by European standards. Bathroom also was fairly large. While the wifi on the public grounds is free, it did cost money in the rooms, but I was able to pick up a decent free signal from my room. The breakfast in the morning was varied and good for a quick bite to start the day. One afternoon when I was feeling especially bad, I spent a few hours in the garden out back. So green with lemon trees and birds chirping. Just wish the benches were more comfortable! It was a very short walk to the Duomo and so many gelato options! The price was a bargain for all of its features. tl;dr: Great location, staff, and rooms. Absolutely adore this place, would happily return and have recommended it to so many friends.

I checked in the hotel very late the caretaker was helpful and nice. He even lugged my heavy ass luggage to my room. Literally out down over through up turn left right I was like wtf where am I going. Yes it is a very old hotel or whatever. It is like a scary movie I felt Norman Bates or Jack Nicholson was waiting for me at any second. The place is huge and very very eclectic. It's very unique I mean if it were a house I would love to live there because of the uniqueness. But I have to admit pretty spooky at night but the room is comfortable clean the AC blasted water pressure cool. I find in Europe most Queen beds are twins together so that didn't bother me the tub was clean I didn't have to wear shower shoes. The only drawback was NO IRON so most of my clothes I wore stretched since I couldn't iron. No coffee machine it had a fridge. They mentioned something about misquotes but I didn't have an issue. All in all it is different yet cool and very close to a lot of stuff.

It was built in the 6th century AD by the Byzantines as part of the "newer" city walls to augment the older Roman ones and protect the city during the Gothic War. The circular shape, which was rare in the Middle Ages, reflects ancient Roman building techniques. The tower rests on a circular wall that surrounded a swimming pool or Roman thermal bath. In the basement there is a calidarium, with brick floor channels for heat, which would have been used for steam baths. According to our guide, Roberta, it was used as a women's prison in the 12th century. Pagliazza references the straw mat bedding upon which the inmates slept. Later on, it was converted into the bell tower of a church. Eventually it was acquired as a private residence. Today it is home to a luxury hotel with a small museum and restaurants. The museum showcases artifacts from excavations dating back to the Roman and medieval times. Although we didn't stay here, the history of the Pagliazza Tower is very interesting.

Our bathroom was huge, with a shower/tub combination, fluffy robes, and slippers for our comfort. We had a separate 'toilet room' with a bidet, which provided an extra level of privacy. Breakfast in the lobby was a real treat. There were so many options. Made to order omelets, eggs, French toast, and pancakes, along with an assortment of pastries, tarts, and fresh fruit made it hard to choose. Everything we ate, was delicious. It was the best breakfast we had in our two week trip to Italy. After dinner, we enjoyed having a nightcap at the rooftop bar. The drinks were expensive, but the fabulous views made it a worthwhile expense. Sadly, we only had one night here, because this place was spectacular in every way. Just enough to let me know that safety is a priority. Next door to the national library and so close to amazing restaurants, shopping, and sight seeing. Ok l, every trip has an ordeal.
