Had the Malai Korma curry, sweet (not mango) lassi, and the whole wheat bread (usually called roti, called something else here which I can't remember the name of but begins with a "p").
The curry was excellent, 5 small veggie balls in a thick sauce. Low veggie balls to sauce ratio, but that's consistent with what I had at Chaat Bhavan, so guess that's just how that dish is served. But just so you know. Anyway, it was all good and I ate all of the veggie balls and nearly all of the (copious) sauce. One thing at Arth that I haven't seen before is that the spices in the curry were coarsely ground so I was seeing these little chunks of spice all through the sauce. That's not a complaint. It had a great taste. Not spicy hot but spicy spiced.
The roti by another name was pretty typical. It was also quite small, which is reflected in the price. Next time I'd probably order two and if you're a bread fiend, you might want to order more.
The sweet lassi was slightly sweet, slightly sour (it is a yogurt drink after all).
Service was pleasant enough. You order and pay at the counter then they bring you a jar of water and your order. Napkins and tableware are at the table.
I'd eat here again. I might not make a special trip for them, but if I was in Fremont, I'd definitely consider them so I can try some of their other dishes. This is not faint praise, it's just that there's so many great places in Fremont. They definitely belong on my Fremont list. read more
