Art Steps has been such a wonderful after‑school activity for our daughter, Morgan. She has truly grown to love it and has learned so many new skills through her drawings. Each week, we're excited to see the progress she's made, and she is incredibly proud of everything she's learning. My six year old has thoroughly enjoyed his experience here so far. We have seen a huge improvement in his comfort in not only holding the pen correctly while writing, but also his attention span while coloring. Not to mention, the pieces he brings home every few weeks are incredibly impressive. I really appreciate the calm environment they emphasize here during class. My son has Teacher Tai, and we cannot say enough great things about him. He is encouraging and adapts effortlessly to each and every students learning style. Simply the best! I only wish I had signed up my daughter sooner. She has always loved art, but I couldn't find a place nearby that focused on teaching art vs doing arts and crafts. A friend recommended Art Steps, and it only took the first class to see how great this place is. She has learned so much in just a year. I'm always amazed by what she comes home with. My daughter started about 3 years ago at Art Steps with Ms Lillian and Ms Haley. She enjoys the classes and the art work she brings home are amazing. What I love most about Art Steps, is that her teachers genuinely care for her and their students' wellbeing. They take the time to help her with not only her art projects but with what she might be learning in life. Art Steps is an incredible studio for young kids to learn different methods of drawing. The environment is calm and the staff is truly patient. We had a very good experience here because Miss Hilary, the owner, was able to work with her staff to accomodate my son who is neurodivergent. Miss Haley was so kind and good with kids who are neurodivergent. Sadly, we couldn't stay at the school because there was an incident when my son was frustrated and couldn't regulate his emotions. I took him outside to do some deep breathing but he still had a lot of big feelings so he took one of the pictures displayed outside down and threw it on the ground. This was the straw that broke the camel's back and my son wasn't allowed to come back to the school. Miss Hilary stated that she doesn't have the capacity to help my son because she doesn't have the tools. I understand that many businesses are not equipped to handle kids who are neurodivergent. These children are built differently and sadly, are not accepted to certain schools because the staff is not equipped with the correct training. It is just the reality of our world. I want to be transparent that the school tried their best, but I also want to let parents know that if your child is neurodivergent, this place might not be the best place since their resources are limited. In Art Step's non-profit foundation bio page, Bright Artist, it states that it wants to children who, for financial or circumstantial reasons, to have access to art. I wish this is the case since art really opens up other brain pathways that are therapeutic for people who are neurodivergent. I am certain I will be able to find another business that could accommodate our child. read more

I highly recommend this location! We met Robin at the Orange County Imaginology Fair and my daughter drew and colored a Pikachu pokemon. Robin was so kind. I observed her interaction with the children and I really appreciated the way that she spoke to them. We went to this location for a free session before signing up for monthly sessions and it was amazing! My daughter loved for the short time while we were there. The studio offers art lessons and workshops. There's also classes available for sculpting and classes with a focus on anime. The only reason we stopped attending was because my daughter was accepted into an art conservatory junior high school and she now draws everyday. I recommend this location to anyone wanting to become an artist, or just get a refresher on art, or just improve their art skills. It's also great for homeschooling families. read more

I went to the Grand Opening. Lovely space, nice people. I signed my son up to do the introductory class. After the class he was told to come back in 6 months, "when he was able to focus". I called on Monday, June 18th, 2018 and spoke with the receptionist. I voiced my frustrations, which was: when you are working with children, particularly small children, don't write them off after one class. Most small children are starting to learn the rules of classroom settings. Those working with children, I would think, would give kids more than one chance. The receptionist was lovely and understanding. She said she would talk to the Director and get back to me. I'm still waiting to hear back. I am mainly upset about the lack of follow-up. My son loved the class and has been asking when he would get to go back. At home, he's been attempting to trace pictures and has shown a much greater interest in art than before. So now I will look for a different art classes but I am bummed because Art Steps was convenient (close to home and my work) and the place is really nice. It's a shame it's run so poorly. read more

I love this place. It is absolutely a wonderful studio with very talented, nice employees. They really are attentive with my child. She has been going here for over a year and loves it. She's been learning a lot. This studio really has adapted well with the Covid situation, making online art classes. At my child's young age, she didn't do as well with the online version. However, ArtSteps worked with us and allowed us to to take a break until in person resumed. We were able to make up classes later. Another point is the make up classes, even prior to Covid. They have a good system to allow you to make up if you need to. You'll need to give them enough notice but they are very fair with it. They allow you to get what you pay for. I like this. Overall I'd highly recommend them to any one, young or old. read more

Art Steps is an excellent art school. My granddaughter has been taking classes at the Yorba Linda branch for 4 years and she loves it. This is what she says about Art Steps: "Things I like about Art Steps: the teachers are nice, I like the choices of pictures, the friendly atmosphere and everything else. " One of her favorite teachers was Miss Robin who is now teaching in Costa Mesa. One summer she took a special summer class to learn Anime and she loved it. She has learned how to use acrylic, colored pencil, oil pastel, pastel, crayon, watercolor crayon, and oil. ArtSteps is one of the best run businesses I have come across in a very long time. My kids have gone for lessons at many places for voice, acting, writing, math, and now art. We absolutely love ArtSteps and all the teachers are amazingly kind, loving, nurturing, and so talented!! I love that we found this place for my kids. Right when they walk in, they feel relaxed and welcomed which I think is so important to the creative process necessary for tapping into their best potential. The best part is the super organized art program which teaches a step-by-step method with different medium. I am looking forward to seeing them progress even further than they already have which has been impressive so far. As a parent, I feel my input is valued, and I really feel that they give feedback which is best for my kids. My favorite part is that I see my kids drawing at home and practicing their skills! :) I hope this business grows because I feel I definitely get my money's worth and more.
