I am currently taking visual development hard surface. The teacher gives great feedback and constructive criticism. He walks around the class helping each student on what they're struggling on. I'm learning pretty fast because of it. In the past, I have had teachers who just sit back and wait for questions. Also, before taking courses here, I had a meeting with Lim, the owner. The meeting I had was great. I can tell she genuinely cares about the program. With my past experience, I never had a meeting with the owner of a school like this. It was a refreshing experience. This is an exceptionally great place for any artist to be, from beginner to experienced. The instructors are genuinely good people and fantastic mentors, and if you're ready to learn, they're eager to teach. I've learned much more here than I ever thought I would learn in my life, and am becoming happier and more satisfied with my work than I thought I ever could. Small class sizes make for lots of one on one time and individualized teaching and that's been a game changer for me. They don't just tell you how you can improve, they sit down and SHOW you. I've been a casual student at this place for a while, and I feel lucky to have stumbled upon it (found via Google search). This is a fantastic location for art school portfolio preparation, or for honing your already-existing skills. The teachers are all highly qualified individuals that lead successful careers in their field of choice (ex. Blizzard Entertainment, Disney, etc.). All the instructors I've met are genuine, invested and knowledgable. Most of the students are in high school, but theres a handful that are older (college-age and up) that I've become friends with. The classes are not too large, and a good batch of students that apply to art school are successfully admitted to their first choice (i.e. the coveted Art Center College of Design, RISD). This includes a range of majors - Illustration, Fine Art, Entertainment Design, Transportation Design, etc. The two founders are Art Center graduates themselves, so they provide great direction when it comes to portfolio prep. When you attend your first class, you'll quickly find that you've joined a like-minded, inspired community. I've made some lasting friendships in this studio..and I'm sure you will too. This place is a great place to learn art for everyone aiming to succeed/ enjoy art, even for those who do not have prior experience in art, like me. Kazone has professional instructors who had finished their curriculum in art schools such as Art Center, and are currently engaged in diverse art related businesses. Since these artists have fully devoted their time in Art, they are able to guide students well to whatever goal the students have with their skill and experience. I came to Kazone in June of my freshman year. At that time I didn't know a thing about art, but I still took their class because the instructor was amazingly good and I was mind blown by his skill. I soon realized that this place is a perfect opportunity for me to be good at art. Since I was a slow-learner/beginner and furthermore didn't put much effort into Homework, it took me a year to complete one class. I think to quickly and generously finish the course and become good at, requires homework habit to reflect and demonstrate what teacher has shown in class. I went to this school for 8 months and wasted a lot of money. Please make sure you have good drawing skills before signing up for their classes. The number of student-teacher ratio is 30 to 1. The teacher won't be able to pay much attention to you and are there to supervise you and 30 other students. They will drag you on while asking you to pay more, making you stay in their school longer, and blaming you for the lack of progress. You will not even be able to learn the drawing fundamentals properly. read more

At first, I found it difficult to adjust in a setting in which the instructors push their methods onto their students, but it ended up being a very effective way of training students what college is like. I gained much experience of how it would be like as a college student taking college courses. Danny is a very helpful portrait and sketching instructor, and Valerie is great at helping you come up with original ideas, and being flexible with your approach to artmaking and developing your own style. I have been accepted to many schools after attending Kazone, including Art Center. I attend Art Center now, and some intro classes were exactly how they prepared us to be like. Some downsides are that the instructors can be too lax on some days, and the fact that Lim can be intimidating. I understand she means well for the students who attend, but she can often strip students of their confidence and confuse them into disliking their works and approach. However, this is only a warning for those who are not able to take blunt criticism. She does mean well, she is very strict and old-fashioned, but in this manner I saw that she effectively teaches students to grow tougher and withstand criticism. She effectively prepares you for critiques and even helps students with painting techniques. But if you are the type of student who is only looking for praises and a confidence boost, this school is not for you. Be prepared for boot camp! read more

I am a big fan of Kazone Art!! Kazone Art is great place to experience what college courses would be like. All the teachers were amazing and have definitely helped me improve my creativity and technical skills. I was a student who started a bit late in my portfolio due to failed attempts at other art studios, but Kazone was able understand me as an artist and as a student. I was accepted into many colleges because of the amazing teachers at Kazone who pushed me to be the best I could be. Shout out to Lim who believed in me and always supported me as an artist! Some of the colleges I was accepted to were Seattle University, Pepperdine, NYU, offering me scholarships for Fine Art Talent. Although USC did not offer me a scholarship, I was admitted into this college and will be attending as a Fine Arts major for the fall semester. I will be taking classes again this summer to brush up on my technical skills before school starts. Kazone is a great place to learn and create an amazing portfolio.
