Erica guided us through the whole evening where we all got to hang out in a very inviting setting and painted our various pottery items including mugs, plates, and more. It's a great place to have these group hangouts while all focusing on making something creative and fun. There is free parking in the lot behind the building where the Crop Shop is open which is very welcome in a place like Hoboken! Not to mention, Erica makes this such a great experience! I will say it was a bit hard to find at first because it is not currently located at the street level but I'm excited for the renovation and future events here!

After her Art Students League three-week workshop, I followed Michiyo to two additional locations, two additional 4-6 week workshops. Each time I learned so much. Michiyo's is the best art teacher I ever had. She teaches her exceptional technique but she fully respect her students' personalities. But she also help them to gain confident in their skills until they outdo themselves. If you are dedicated to learning watercolor, I highly recommend Michiyo.

I had the…read moreopportunity to check one out the other weekend and clearly I'm not the only one in JC that knows about this JC gem, the place was packed. The space has an industrial vibe and you would never even realize there's an art space located in this somewhat rundown warehouse; ultimately making it that much cooler. The art was interesting, the people were great, the space was hip and I definitely look forward to checking this gallery out more!

Love her message, love her vibe, and love her voice. I love people who are unapologetically themselves. I look up to that. I really have to just walk around downtown more. I forget how many hidden gems there are. When I remembered the gallery was in SoHo, I stopped in my tracks, searched the address for the gallery and realized I was a block away. I almost ran when I found out and was blown away upon my arrival. All this rambling is to say, don't walk, run here. Ashley's staff is friendly, knowledgeable and so fun to talk to. All of her pieces are incredible and if I didn't have to still buy diapers for the kid, I would be investing in one of her pieces. Until then, I got her book "You don't look fat, you look crazy". There are ways you can support her by buying her card games, books or smaller pieces. I can't wait to dive into this book though. She also has one that focuses on prominent women in history and pop culture called Roar!. Yay, women! It's such a great gift for the strong women in your life. I previously bought this for my sister as a Christmas gift and she loves it. Also, I signed up for the email list, even though I was already on it. Ashley has a thing called a Saturday series. Here she holds discussions at the gallery. I'm going to keep a look out for one because I need to go now!

There were only 10 participants (including ourselves), so it was not too rowdy at all. You're expected to bring your own wine and snacks for the event because it will last up to four hours (6-9pm) but time goes by quickly when you're having fun. There will be music playing while you paint and you're free to talk, so don't stress about this being taking super seriously. The painting is taken step-by-step and the instructor was a very patient young woman. She encouraged us to ask questions and request help if needed. She who knew her craft, but never looked down on us if we weren't painting exactly to the original material. After all, art is subjective. By the end of the event, you'll be able to take your painting home so it's encouraged to leave your signature. I felt incredibly proud of my work and it's a great conversation topic to go on about for the rest of the night. I would come back over and over again, as long as I have a partner with me. It's more fun with someone you know.
