This is my second time coming here. I came here once pre-covid for a work offsite/team building event. I booked my visit the night before as my friend and I needed something to do in the afternoon on a cold winter day before we went to our dinner plans. Booking was super easy. When we entered, we checked in at the front desk/bar area and were directed to grab an apron off the hooks and hang our jackets up in the coat room behind the exit door. Seats were assigned and your paint station has your name on it. (They make this clear during the booking process that your party will be sat together, and if you book separately, you'll need to make sure to choose your group's name from the drop down to ensure you're sat together). Your workstation comes with an easel with a canvas, 5 brushes, a water can, and 5 brushes. There's a stack of communal plates (for color mixing) and paper towels in the middle of the table. The audience was made up of various ages and profiles - from couples to friends to families to kids celebrating a birthday to solo painters. The staff make is super welcoming from the start and explain the whole process clearly from how to order food (from the QR code on your easel) to having a floater artist walking around to provide help if you need it. You also don't have to paint the product that's shown and can use the time as a freestyle session if you wish. Beyond the provided palette (curated to the painting you booked), they do have a shelf of various colors to choose from so your imagination is unlimited. They also have blow dryers stationed throughout so you can dry your paint if you painted layers too thick and need to add additional layers on top. There seems to be another room downstairs past the bathrooms and I saw a group of kids go down there so I assume that's used for private bookings (didn't get to see the space, just heard voices and saw people go there) Took stars off for the following: - Bathrooms are downstairs so not the most accessible. The sink only had cold water despite using the hot tap. Made my hands absolutely freezing when it was already 0 degrees outside. - The painting we did was advertised to be 2 hours. I feel like timing could have been better managed or advertised. We started a few minutes late. The pace was going great in the beginning with sufficient pauses for us to follow along, then when there was technically 15 min remaining at 5:15 (the booking is for 3:30-5:30pm), we were rushing to complete the remaining portions of the painting and my friend and I couldn't keep up fast enough. i feel like they should have advertised this as 2.5 hours so the last steps aren't rushed. Others did finish with the allotted time and we weren't rushed out at the end, but the pacing just felt off given the nice pace we had in the beginning. - I also wished we had some time to rinse out our cups or more pauses to blow down our work. Maybe I'm OCD and hate how gross the water gets and my brushes never feel clean. I took some time to rinse out my cup and another time took some time to blow dry my painting, but when I got back to my seat I fell very behind. - At the end while I was still finishing up, I heard a few people asking for bags to take their paintings home in and heard the staff saying they didn't have any. I would think this would be a common enough request that they'd have bags on hand (or just by default would provide bags) since we are in the city and many of us need to commute on the subways and aren't just walking into our own private vehicles. read more

This was my second visit to the Painting Bar in Tribeca, and my friends and I had a great time! We joined their Halloween Special -- a "Paws Off My Pumpkin" painting session. The instructor, Danielle, was attentive and well-spoken, guiding us through the entire process step by step. However, we started few minutes late due to guests running late that day. We were allowed to stay towards the day to finish up if we needed to. As an artist myself, I always enjoy seeing how different instructors demonstrate their techniques. I haven't painted on canvas in quite some time, so this class was a great refresher for me. The bar area was closed for renovation. The last time I visited which was before the pandemic, it was also closed. This made me wonder if renovations are still ongoing. Personally, it didn't bother me since I prefer not to eat or drink while painting, but my friends were a bit disappointed. The bar only had light snacks available (cookies and chips). Hopefully, once renovations are complete, guests who enjoy the full "Paint and Sip" experience will have more options. The instructor assistant took photos of the session however I have yet to find the photos on their Facebook group for that specific session. Good thing, I took photos myself in case this situation happened which it did. I would love to see the photos of that day though. My husband and I decided to go to a sip and paint night in the city after work and got two tickets for around $50 each. It seemed like a fun weekday activity--but honestly, I left pretty disappointed. The Start: When we arrived, there was construction right in front of the building, and no clear signage or staff to help us find the entrance. At least six of us were just standing outside, waiting for someone to open the door. We eventually got let in, but by that point, we were already past the event's start time, which was frustrating. The Setup: Once inside, things didn't improve much. The full bar was closed (which feels ironic for a sip and paint event in New York City!), so only canned drinks for anyone. When we sat down, a few of the brushes still had dried paint on them, and the overall setup didn't feel well-prepared. The Class: The instructor was friendly but not very clear when explaining which brush or color to use, and it felt rushed and a bit disorganized. I know these classes are meant to be relaxed and fun, but it honestly just made me feel more confused and left out. All in all, I'm glad we tried it--it's a unique date idea--but between the confusing entry, closed bar, and messy setup, I probably wouldn't go back. There are definitely better sip and paint experiences in NYC that are worth the price. read more

Decided on a whim to do a post-Valentine's Day paint & sip on a weeknight. This was the first time I ever did one of these. This was specifically a Valentine's Day theme, where we had to finish our canvases and make them into hearts. We had Connor instruct us on the painting. It's a 2 hour paint session and done intentionally as the paint needs ample time to dry. But Connor was great this particular evening. We had fun painting our canvases. I may have butchered my side, but at least I found ways to salvage it, I think?. Of course, there's no fun in painting without some wine. This evening though, I skipped on the wine. My girl wasn't much in the mood for it and I would also be drinking on a fairly empty stomach. But alcohol and soft drinks are certainly plenty. There is also food, however when we were there, the options were quite limited (due to items not being in stock) and they did not really look appetizing when I saw other people receive their items. Glad I didn't order, but maybe going for a 7pm paint without any food in the system isn't the greatest idea. All in all, I'll probably find a way to come back for another occasion. We were given a gift card to Muse for the holidays and enjoyed ourselves doing a couples paint. It was very easy to pick the session we wanted online and I appreciated how many different paintings and sessions they have to choose from at this location. They advise arriving early and we did, but it wasn't necessary because it took a little while before the lead painter got started. Once it did, Abbey on the stage was a good paint leader and very positive. There is also a second employee that floats around amount the tables if anyone needs help. I do not consider myself very creative or a good painter, but had enough fun that I would do it again anyway. read more

My best friend and I came here on a paint your pet event and it was so cute. You upload your pets on their link and they print it out for you. They give you step by step features and feedback on how you're doing. There's also small bites, wines and soft drinks to choose from while painting. It was a great experience and fun. We booked Muse Paintbar in Tribeca for my daughter's birthday party this past weekend. The on-site staff and instructors were great -- especially Brooke, who did an excellent job managing and engaging a room full of 9-year-olds. My daughter loved the painting experience and had a fun birthday. Unfortunately, the management and food pricing for private parties is incredibly misleading. I pre-ordered food based on the prices listed on Muse's website, only to later discover I was charged 4x more because it was a "private party" -- despite there being no separate private party menu or pricing disclosed online. Worse, I later ordered the same mac & cheese bites in person (the kids were hungry) for $10.50 and received the exact same portion size as the $40 "platter." Same food, wildly different price. I exchanged emails about this with the management, who are not on-site...no one there could explain or help me understand the true difference in pricing. We spent over $700 just to reserve the space, and the lack of transparency around food pricing completely soured the experience. The artists deserve praise -- the off-site management does not. read more

This makes for an interesting team building event. It's a no frills space with a novel activity, simple drinks and good service. Mind you, don't order the food as it's not worth it. Show up half an hour before your session starts to order drinks, as the bartender is also the painting instructor. There's a break during the 2 hour painting session to order drinks again. While aprons are provided, they do not cover you fully from head to toe so make sure not to wear clothes and shoes you'll be upset if get stained. My friend and I came here as a last minute activity on a Thursday night trip to the city and we loved it! We came half an hour early and they said they could only let us in at the pre specified time which was understandable. You can order food and drinks at the bar and aprons are provided. They didn't have the first couple options for drinks that I wanted to order, so I would keep that in mind. Otherwise, they have everything set up already with your name on a sticky note, canvases, and paint provided! The instructor was very talented and went at a good pace so that no one fell behind. There was an assistant available to answer any questions and provide help. We were given the option to paint our own painting if we wanted and there was an unlimited paint supply available to us. They also allowed anyone whose birthday was that day to pick out a free painting which was cute! With Melanie as our mentor, she was so patient with those of us (all of us) who barely know which end of the paintbrush to use. Decided to go to Muse Paintbar for something to do on a weekday evening (was able to book the night before so didn't need much advance planning) and had a great experience. Even for someone like me with little artistic ability, was still able to create a painting that came out looking reasonably good. I really enjoyed coming here a couple of times with my friends. The sip and paint events are really fun. The instructors are very patient and guide you well on how to paint your masterpieces. The choices of drinks and food they have are pretty decent, too. I really appreciate Muse Paintbar for giving me a voucher to use when one of my friends couldn't make it to one of the events. Our paint guide, Andy, was a great teacher and engaged with our group by taking our music requests, helping with our paintings, and laughing at our jokes/poking fun at us. He didn't go to slow or too fast with the instructions and made it a stress-free and fun experience. The bar food was seriously delicious. Pigs in a blanket, curly fries, pizza (with a delicious glaze), mozzarella sticks and more were brought out regularly and our group thought everything was delicious. I was worried the food wouldn't be filling enough but it definitely was. You must reserve your party's spot ahead of time by going to their website. You can choose your reservation based on your availability. My favorite thing and the reason why I chose this paint-n-sip place was because on the website, it had photos of the painting you are going to create, as well as the date, prices and all necessary information. Checkout was quick and easy. I had to reschedule my first reservation because something came up a few days before, and they made that an easy process as well. I chose the class on a Sunday at 11am, and I am glad I did. The class was very small and intimate. Upon going inside, the aprons to protect your clothes are hanging on the left and the bar is on the right. I just want to say our instructor was amazing; she was patient, friendly and detailed when explaining each step. This was my first paint-n-sip experience, but I appreciated that she took the time to walk around and ask each of us if we needed assistance or further directions. My friends and I did not get any drinks because it was still early, but it was fun regardless! We stopped a couple times to dry our work and to dry it before we left. She kindly offered to take pictures of us holding our paintings as well! Bags were provided to carry our work once we left. I recently came here for a friend's birthday celebration. We went to dinner before hand, and came to this wine and paint event afterward. We love a good drinking and paiting experience. The setup of this place was great. The instructors were all kind and nice, too. We all had an amazing time here painting our designs. I didn't try the food here, but it looked good from what I saw. I have completed my first painting!! I went to Family day at Muse with my little one to paint Snoopy. He's good at art but I did feel slightly insecure because I'm not artistic. Whisper and Philip were super friendly, helpful, and encouraging. They give you the freedom to paint how you like (and even deviate from the prescribed painting altogether) but if you want, you can follow along step by step which is what I mostly did. You can ask them to help you and everyone got a free painting! I loved all the tips and tricks they gave us. Upon arrival, they have everything set up for you including aprons, paint, brushes, water, and a canvas. You and your party get your own table. There is a bar with food and drinks. The bathroom is downstairs. You will leave happy and proud! I still can't believe my Snoopy and Woodstock came out that good! I am definitely going to come back and I recommend you do this. I did a paint your pet class and it was very fun. The instructor was nice and helpful. I didn't order any food or drinks but they have a decent sized menu if you want something to snack on. They have a bathroom but you have to go down a flight of stairs to access it, so if you have mobility concerns, this might be hard for you. Overall, a cheerful place to come and unwind. I got a Groupon deal and came here with my family on a Wednesday evening. The painting itself started around 7pm but doors opened at 6:30 to allow time for people to order food/drinks. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, which was covered in a bit too much sauce and really messy to eat. I like the fact they serve food but it's hard to actually eat once you start painting, and there also isn't much room on the table to put the dishes. So I only ate half my pizza before we started painting. The painting itself was fun! Our teacher, Sara, was easy to follow along, although it was sometimes hard to hear what was going on if there were people having their own conversations. Very cute date spot with various classes and different times available. Make a reservation online and you can send the links to your friends to join so y'all will sit at the same table. Online will show which painting you will do for that reservation. Some classes are longer like the "paint your pet". The instructors are kind and knowledgeable. There are staff who walks around to answer any questions while you're painting. This is not a BYOB place, there are drinks and finger foods available to order. The food takes a while to come (30 min ish), so keep that in mind! The mini hot dog and spicy nuggets were yummy. You're able to choose the sauces you want on the side. Just came home from the studio in Fairfax VA. A touch crowded, but that is to be expected in most studio settings. Thé staff is very friendly, helpful and encouraging. I didn't know what the heck I was doing before I got there, and Adam was very patient with all of us. he was cracking jokes throughout the evening, reminding us this was a a fun experience and not to stress out over mistakes. Several people made tweaks and changes, and everyone was encouraging with creativity. The food wasn't bad, to be expected from a make shift bar style. And my daughter absolutely loved the pretzel bites. Overall, it was actually relaxing, considering my lack of skills. I will definitely go again. I will start with the Positive, - The Most nicest / funniest / coolest Instructor.(Conner) - We get to take our painting home & paintings from a box if we want to.( Paintings left from other customers that didn't want to take it home). - There is space to eat and paint. The Negative, -The assistant had a natural annoyed face. - Didn't tell us what was available or not, instead of telling us she waited till we asked for it to tell us "we also don't have that ". - I ordered ice cream sundae . I got a refund that's not the problem. The problem is what she said " oh your the one who ordered the ice cream, yeah that sucks". - Didn't have singles. -Everyone keeps trying to open a different door to get inside & instead of helping us she looked at us with her natural annoyed face. Update: after posting they did issue the studio credit, which I appreciate. I will note, when I spoke 3x before this that did not happen. I do appreciate the credit given the circumstances. used to really enjoy going here but they canceled our class less than 24 hours in advance and we did not receive a notification in a timely manner. They showed they sent an email at 6PM on a Friday for the Sat 12PM class which did not show up in my inbox. Crazy they don't have the curtesy to call. My friends and I spend over $30 in Ubers each to get downtown to go. We get there and are told because 2 more people did not sign up our class is canceled. They refunded us. We asked for a free class since we came all the way to Tribeca to go and did not receive the notification. They refused!. I really did like this place but cannot support this type of service. read more
