Incredibly rude and uncaring. I brought in a baseball photo to be framed for my son's 50th and was assured it would be ready. I called just before the birthday party and it was not. Days went by and when I called they told me they had texted days ago. I told them I had not received it. They told me over the phone they had. When I went in they said that, oops, the text had not gone through. I suggested that when they saw this they could have called like the old fashioned way. They then huffed and puffed and with a cursive dismissal gave a half hearted apology. But my son did get an overpriced framed photo of Joe DiMaggio- - weeks after his birthday (he loved it). read more

We have had good but expensive experiences with this shop for years. The value was in the proprietor, Tom, who had an outstanding eye for what works and what doesn't. I encountered the WORST customer service I've experienced in years. I entered the store to gather framing inspiration for a dear friend looking to frame a piece of his original art. However, the male staff member, whom I assumed was Tom, quickly advised me that photos were prohibited. I respectfully refrained and proceeded to explain that I was seeking ideas for another person and would like any brochures to offer him if they had any. He coldly and rudely replied, "You've never had customer framing before, have you." in an undeniably condescending tone. I have in fact, a number of times. "We don't have brochures," he said. I was so taken aback by his brash attitude for simply asking for inspiration that I decided to leave. As soon as I turned around, there was a display with a small brochure for their shop right in front of me with... wow. And though the brochure was not brimming with inspiration, it was the example I needed that this man is surely not interested in treating people with respect or kindness. I had a very large 50x50 limited edition poster to frame, and Art Loft Framing did a stellar job! Everyone I dealt with was so friendly and helpful. Sabrina helped me pick the perfect frame and demonstrated the superior qualities of the Optium Museum Acrylic, which really was the best decision for my large piece. The framing is perfect, the acrylic glazing is gorgeous and glare-free, it's installed with hardware and ready to hang, has the Certificate of Authenticity mounted on the back and they even wrapped my poster with heavy paper to protect it during delivery. I was quite disappointed in my search today for repairing a broken frame and re-doing two family heirloom photos. The proprietor was quite dismissive and said that he couldn't help me replace the oval frames, which he said were only made of resin plastic as are all oval frames, and he doesn't deal in such cheap stuff. He had no suggestions for where I might find the frames that I need, only that I should go to a store that deals in hotel mass production framing. I don't mind that he doesn't do this specific type of job, but his attitude toward me and my family heirlooms was very snobby, and he didn't even say, "Thank you for coming in; I'm sorry that we couldn't help you." Coming into the shop and having him take a gracious time to help us sort through as many mats as we needed to to find perfection with patience and grace and great input that made all the difference. A few months ago I got a panoramic canvas wrap of the village in Europe where I lived when I was young. To me it looked unfinished and needed a frame. Had it framed at some other framer with a fat frame. I didn't enjoy looking at it. So I brought it in to Art Loft. I was going to have him remove the frame so I don't damage the canvas wrap. We talked about other options and Tom suggested a floater frame. He showed me what a corner would look like and it did look finished. Now I can't stop looking at my framed canvas. There was one party with a more complex framing need than mine (I just needed replacement glass) ahead of me at 1:30 on a Monday in August. The staffer noted me right away, greeted me and asked me to wait. The time was well spent perusing the amazing display of frames they have available in all sorts of materials and designs, some so arty I wished I had a picture to put in them! Then, when it was my turn, she was helpful and friendly. She said she'd do the reglazing right away (that made me happy because she told the previous party it'd be two weeks), so I popped out for lunch and when I returned, it was not only all ready (with archival UV-blocking glass), but she had reinforced the backing and added extra clips. Last week I had an unusual photograph of my girlfriend blown up to 3' square, and wanted it framed for her husband's birthday. I had altered it and made it a bit Warhol-ish. I decided to finally get all of my diplomas framed. I was convinced to go the whole nine yards and get the double matting, UV protectant glass, etc. They did a great job, and I trusted them with my valuable diplomas, but I am embarrassed to say how much it cost. It's been a while, so I don't remember exactly, but I wanna say I spent close to $1000 for 5 diplomas. At least it's something I hopefully won't need to do again. Tom is very creative and perseveres until he has found just the right matt and frame to work with whatever you bring his way. Recently, I brought in two photos; one is from my great great uncle taken in the late 1880's, the other is of my paternal grandmother when she arrived in the United States from Poland in 1920. Both photographs are in sepia tones and had some of the original framing which I wanted to save and have Tom compliment. The short version is that I've always found Tom to be incredibly helpful and full of wonderful suggestions about just the right frame and matting style to use to comlement a piece. The quality of his work is top-notch, and he's also very willing to work withing a budget. I really appreciate the time and attention he gave me. The longer version concerns the three pieces I recently took in for framing, all family pieces with great sentimental value. One piece was an original Allied Photography photo of the ship my father served on in WWII. It would have been easy to use a black frame and white mat, but Tom suggested a simple charcoal gray frame with a combination of mats that took it from being a nice picture to something special. The second piece was a picture of my sister and me that had been painted on practically transparent silk in Japan in the late 1950s. It had been poorly framed and mounted, but Tom salvaged it and again worked with me to select a frame and matting that makes it a wonderful piece. The last piece was an early America cross-stitch sampler done by my Marine Colonel father for my mother for Christmas. It's not really a style for my house, but because of the history and sentiment behind it, I wanted to frame it in a unique way. Tom suggested an inner frame to set off the piece, with a woven cloth mat and a frame with simple beading that picked up part of the design of the needlework. It's spectacular. I needed a framed mirror quickly for the bathroom at my 1930's era cabin in the mountains as I was just about to have house guests and had not been able to find a custom sized mirror. I came in on a Wed. and had a beautifully framed custom-sized mirror by Saturday! They made a special effort to rush it and get it to me on time (my car was literally packed and I was waiting outside). I would not hesitate to recommend the service you will receive here. Tom has been doing framing for fine art for years; has been doing mine for over 15 years. I generally have an idea of what I want. Sometimes he agrees with me and sometimes he doesn't. He is always right either way. He puts out quality products and though he isn't inexpensive, every piece he has framed is worth it. He also has a cheaper line of mouldings which I have used on posters. I will be moving away in a year or so and hope I can find someone as good. Will be easier to find a doctor! read more
