We are "all about" All About Dance!…read more They have tap/jazz and ballet classes taught by two loving, dedicated co-owners who used to be instructors at Chatham University before their program was closed. The studio is small--both in terms of actual space and number of dancers--so there is lots of personal attention. The owners teach ever course, and they know every child. My 3-year-old is just as important as their senior competition team members. My daughter is likely not destined to be a ballerina or a professional dancer, but she's having the time of her life in these classes and learning alot too! We particularly like the 4/5-year old tap/ballet combo class. In 40 minutes, the kids do 20 minutes of ballet with one owner, change shoes, and then do 20 minutes of tap with the other owner. By the end of that, my daughter is blissfully happy and tired. She and her friend sing and laugh the entire car ride home and then pass out promptly after dinner. Don't let the location stop you: it's not far at all. The studio is located on the south of the 376 bridge across from Regent Square. Traffic on Braddock/Forbes can be a small issue coming from Squirrel Hill or Oakland around 5pm in the fall/spring, but it usually only takes 10-12 minutes.

I filled out the paperwork and then the person working typed out all my info into the computer. It is $10 to visit with a member. Since they already had my info from last time, it was much quicker to check in. There are lockers available and clean bathrooms. I didn't go in the showers, but noticed they have them. The gym itself is nice! I loved the treadmills. All of the equipment is new and clean. They also offer classes in the main basketball court part of the gym. I saw people doing pilates on my first visit, and indoor pickleball this most recent visit. There is also a small track on the second floor that overlooks the gym for people to walk. There are plenty of tables and chairs and a small cafe. I wonder if WFH people work here? I would. Nice, clean, and comfortable. And affordable! This would cost WAY more to visit where I live in Austin, TX. I recommend this community center!

They have classes that start as early as 18 months (mommy & me) and run all the way through adult fitness classes. The school is divided into several divisions. Children's (the youngest through around age 8), student (8 through around 14), pre professional and graduate. Anyone can participate in the children's division, but you need to audition for placement in the student division. PBT also has an adult fitness/wellness curriculum that has classes like ballet 101 and Pilates. The staff and teachers are absolutely wonderful. They genuinely care about each and every kid (or adult) in their class. PBT as a whole is wonderful as well! They do several mainstage productions a year including the Nutcracker every December. They are always creative, beautiful and just a joy to watch and appreciate the artistry. I especially love when they are productions with the orchestra. Overall, an amazing organization with a wonderful school and great productions.

As were the "local celebrities" who were given non-speaking, non-dancing (thankfully!) roles as party guests-- why?? What could be next? Pittsburgh Dance Moms in minor roles? Apparently I prefer a more traditional version of The Nutcracker. I missed some of the costumes and dances from the original Balanchine production. I know that some will say that it's predictable and static to do this the same way every year, but when I think of this ballet, it is what I want to see. That being said, the dancers were wonderfully talented and executed their movements perfectly. We are fortunate to have their talent in Pittsburgh!
