We are "all about" All About Dance!…read more They have tap/jazz and ballet classes taught by two loving, dedicated co-owners who used to be instructors at Chatham University before their program was closed. The studio is small--both in terms of actual space and number of dancers--so there is lots of personal attention. The owners teach ever course, and they know every child. My 3-year-old is just as important as their senior competition team members. My daughter is likely not destined to be a ballerina or a professional dancer, but she's having the time of her life in these classes and learning alot too! We particularly like the 4/5-year old tap/ballet combo class. In 40 minutes, the kids do 20 minutes of ballet with one owner, change shoes, and then do 20 minutes of tap with the other owner. By the end of that, my daughter is blissfully happy and tired. She and her friend sing and laugh the entire car ride home and then pass out promptly after dinner. Don't let the location stop you: it's not far at all. The studio is located on the south of the 376 bridge across from Regent Square. Traffic on Braddock/Forbes can be a small issue coming from Squirrel Hill or Oakland around 5pm in the fall/spring, but it usually only takes 10-12 minutes.

My child has danced there for a couple years. The first year was fine... I think? But maybe I missed the warning signs because I was new to dance. The second year was stressful, but we made it through. And even returned for a third year because my child loves seeing friends and Miss Kat. We will not be returning though for the following reasons: -there is not enough staff. Bridgette is usually teaching and her son or a volunteer is in the office. Neither of them ever have answers for normal questions. It leaves you to be rude and interrupt a class or have to chase Bridgette down between classes. -fundraising funds are somehow missing until the very last class. Then you can't even use all of it. But they can't give it back to you. So you have to "donate to the parent organization" or sign up for summer classes to use it. -costumes are always missing and changing. You blindly pay $100 and get a $25 costume. -waiting room is always crowded, crazy hot, and dirty. Not to the point of being super gross. But like it only gets cleaned one day a week. -generally unorganized. The songs were changing the week before the end of the year recital! If you want a place for your kid to get out energy, it's fine and okay priced. But if you want nice recitals and competitions, find another place.

Have you ever gone down a rabbit hole of dance videos online, and you want to move like that? Well, FireWall definitely can give you that moment with choreography, movement, and video. A friend and I attended a special Sip & Sexy 2-hour event, and we were floored by how fun it was. For the first time, I felt sexy when dancing, and the people at FireWall are truly a hype squad. I'm sold, and I've purchased a class pass to return to more classes (and I have!). Parking can be spicy, but if you're there after 6 pm, street parking becomes free. If you want free parking, you'll need to park up near Josephine Street, and that's a few blocks away.

There were only a few options for studios due to her age and we could not be happier with Mary Ann and Company. My daughter's class had about 7 or 8 dancers in it at a time and Mary Ann is wonderful with the girls. There were days it was like herding cats (the range was 2 1/2 to 3 years of age) and Mary Ann managed the girls with patience and grace. My daughter immediately took to the class and always looked forward to attending her lessons. We feel that she has also improved a little in following directions and has really gotten a lot out of the six months she has attended the studio. We will continue to send her for lessons. The studio itself is clean and open with enough variety to keep the girls engaged while still working on similar skills. Her rates are also very reasonable. We readily recommend this studio to other families whose children are interested in taking up dance.
