Studio B Dance Center

Studio B Dance Center

I want to love Studio B. I love Miss Kat and many of the other moms. My child has fun; and isn't…read morethat what it's all about? But when it comes down to it, the place is going downhill and fast. My child has danced there for a couple years. The first year was fine... I think? But maybe I missed the warning signs because I was new to dance. The second year was stressful, but we made it through. And even returned for a third year because my child loves seeing friends and Miss Kat. We will not be returning though for the following reasons: -there is not enough staff. Bridgette is usually teaching and her son or a volunteer is in the office. Neither of them ever have answers for normal questions. It leaves you to be rude and interrupt a class or have to chase Bridgette down between classes. -fundraising funds are somehow missing until the very last class. Then you can't even use all of it. But they can't give it back to you. So you have to "donate to the parent organization" or sign up for summer classes to use it. -costumes are always missing and changing. You blindly pay $100 and get a $25 costume. -waiting room is always crowded, crazy hot, and dirty. Not to the point of being super gross. But like it only gets cleaned one day a week. -generally unorganized. The songs were changing the week before the end of the year recital! If you want a place for your kid to get out energy, it's fine and okay priced. But if you want nice recitals and competitions, find another place.

Brigette and her staff are excellent! I would highly recommend Studio B to anyone who loves dance…read more My daughter felt welcomed and accepted and loved. She has learned so much and is progressing well.

Have you ever gone down a rabbit hole of dance videos online, and you want to move like that? Well, FireWall definitely can give you that moment with choreography, movement, and video. A friend and I attended a special Sip & Sexy 2-hour event, and we were floored by how fun it was. For the first time, I felt sexy when dancing, and the people at FireWall are truly a hype squad. I'm sold, and I've purchased a class pass to return to more classes (and I have!). Parking can be spicy, but if you're there after 6 pm, street parking becomes free. If you want free parking, you'll need to park up near Josephine Street, and that's a few blocks away.

There is a huge free parking lot in the back as well. The owner is one of the sweetest people I've met and I've only been to two classes. Very uplifting and radiates positivity. Love that it is a drop in studio so adults are welcome. Honestly my only down fall now is that you are still required to wear masks even with the mandates lifted and being vaccinated. I totally understand wanting to be extra cautious, selfishly just hate being so sweaty in a mask dancing. will be back for more.

SHAPE Training

I've been a member of this club, Shape Training, East Pittsburgh (previously Keystone Fitness) for…read more10 years. Shape Training took over two years ago and I'm sorry to say it has gone downhill since. The new focus is personal training and if you don't partake of it, you are simply forgotten and not valued as a customer. When the changeover started and people started complaining I was actually a cheerleader for the new management. I kept telling people I'm willing to give them an opportunity to turn things around. Well, we just finished our 2nd summer without A/C. It was registering 83 degrees inside every day. We were appeased by the placement of 4 fans, which did nothing except blow around hot air. Let me clarify, I'm not adverse to sweating, I've done inferno classes, kickboxing among others in the past, but this was unbearable. For the past two years, we have been told that they are "working" on the air conditioning. With focus being on personal training, new equipment was purchased but unfortunately it didn't meet the needs of the existing customers. The weight machines are nice but you need to change the weights and spend much time looking around the gym for the right sizes. There are only 2 ellipticals; these are in high demand every day and are showing signs of wear. The motorized treadmills were replaced by manual treadmills. After many people complained, 3 motorized treadmills were purchased. The replacement machines didn't happen immediately; it took complaint after complaint over several months. The equipment is not being maintained. One rowing machine has had wires hanging from it since February. It was brought to management's attention in February and as of October, the wires are still hanging. One of the two stationary bikes is making an atrocious noise and was reported back in February. Other pieces of equipment are wearing down. I know some pieces may be old, but you need to study your demographic and usage of the equipment on a continuous basis to keep ALL your customers happy. They have a nice track that I used every day. Walking gave me an opportunity to look around the floor. I saw a lifesaver in the same spot all summer. Unfortunately the gym is not kept clean. For me, the final straw was when there were about 15 people in the gym and then a person came for training. The trainer blasted the music so loud, it actually hurt my ears. I asked an employee if they could just lower the music a bit, she was a foot away from me and had to lean in to ask me to repeat my question. I was told "no", they're training. I'm not adverse to music providing a beat while working out, but ruining ear drums is another issue. I left at that point for the last time. I understand the business end is to make money, but you can't simply focus on one portion and believe that you are meeting everyone's needs. Many people have left Shape Training in the past two years to join other gyms and feel valued as a customer. After desperately trying to keep a positive outlook for the past two years, I have finally joined the ranks and left.

I think "joining a gym" sounds so intimidating sometimes, and I didn't want to be a "meat head" so…read moreI was more inclined to workout on my own.....well I didn't workout on my own, therefore I wasn't hitting my goal - living and loving my life.... I was an athlete my entire since I was 4....after ending my college career, I found myself lost. I missed structure, routine and just the atmosphere of everyone after the same thing, to be the best they can be and pushing each other to do the same....I started working with trainers and taking classes at SHAPE about 5-6 years ago, and when we moved back to Greensburg, I just decided not to make the drive anymore. WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE. About a month ago I took the leap and decided to go in for a consult (Free by the way, with no pressure following) but I met with Martin Heban, who asked me what my goals where, and explained step by step how I can get there, and how SHAPE could support me. Sometimes all it requires to reach your goal, is to take that first step, and I am soooooo happy I did! I now workout there 3-4 days a week, primarily in their classes and obviously take advantage of all of their boot camps and free boxing classes! The support and camaraderie at SHAPE is like nothing you've ever experienced. Whether you have never worked out in your life, or if you are an active athlete, wanting to take your skills and ability to the next level....you will not be disappointed! I'll see you at SHAPE!
