Art City is located just northwest of the small New Mexico town of Tucumcari.
Much to my dismay, the tourist attraction was closed when I stopped by on August 2, 2026. All I can tell you is that a sign stated "TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS".
I didn't zoom into take photos of everything, but I snapped a pic of one particularly large, colorful sculpture.
Still, I think I would rather enjoy this 40-acre concept. In fact, I know my crew and I would love it. Which is why I'm keeping it bookmarked and will update this review hopefully no later than this time next year.
Not only is it a large sculpture park, but also a glamping destination. Booking - when available - is through either the Hipcamp or Airbnb apps.
Day passes are for a walk-through tour that lasts approximately 2 hours. Parking is available at the front.
The day passes include "access from 8 AM-8 PM to explore the property, use restrooms, enjoy picnic areas, and refill water bottles."
Well-behaved leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds when visitors just want to tour the art walk. They are also welcome at the Hipcamp facilities, but NOT the Airbnb ones.
TIP
Cash is not accepted. Entry tickets are available online.
I wish their website indicated exactly what was going on and their intentions for reopening. The property, their website, and their Instagram (Instagram @artcity_inc) account all seem abandoned. UPDATE: somehow I found a more recent Insta account: @artcitynmretreat
But isn't this such a rad concept?!
