Who runs out to get the latest thing in refrigerators unless doing a budget busting complete renovation. Last year it was the electric range/oven's turn to give out. Unprepared, we went to a Big Box store and now deal every day with a range with incomprehensible bells and whistles. (The clock is in sync now only because I like to experiment by clicking on buttons.) So no way would I shop for an appliance again without doing some homework. After researching and learning much about how the industry has changed, not in a good way, I searched Yelp for the best place to buy a kitchen appliance. Yelp came to the rescue. Restaurant reviews can be to some degree subjective but a service is not. Johnnies was highly rated, as it should be. Sophia was a wonderful salesperson and found a refrigerator that met our needs and price range perfectly. Really wonderful communication. When delivery and installation was made, David absolutely provided the most efficient and pleasant experience. They spoke of an upcoming move to a new location nearby so the address given here may no longer be correct.

    I just reread my original Yelp five star review of them from nine years ago. I have used them a few…read moretimes since then. The latest was this weekend for my Viking refrigerator when it stopped working. I was able to get an appointment on Friday night for them to come out Saturday. Of course they didn't have the part but then again I don't expect them to have every single part for every fridge model on their truck or in their office. The part came in the day after the holiday and they installed it the same day. Hopefully, the fridge works for at least a few more years. No issues with the tech that came out nor any issues with their scheduling. I would use them again.

They did not have the part but would order it. I contacted them three times in the next few days. Each time the answered was "we will call GE to order the part and get back to you ASAP." We never heard from them again. They did not call or return to fix the fridge. I cannot recommend this business. The above is my original review. Following this, Sean called to apologize and explain. The fridge is a GE manufactured in Mexico. They attempted to find the part various ways including contacting the manufacturer in Mexico. They refunded our $95. We appreciate their follow up.

    June 5th 2026. Friday…read more Defining Rental Truck Experience only and the customer service staff pertaining to the rental protocol process. Anything else is excluded from this review. I made reservations for a Box truck 2 weeks prior for pick up. Cost is $150 daily rate with unlimited miles. My appointment was set for 6am. I arrived at this location at 6:45am. I approached the front counter and greeted the lady (customer service representative #1.) Good morning, how are you? Her response was not welcoming. She stayed silent with a face of annoyance. Hello, I am here to pick up my truck. Come to find out, I am not on the system because my reservation was cancelled this morning, within an hr. I stated that there is a 1 to 2 hrs grace period for a customer to pick up their rental reservation truck. She replied, sorry I can't help you. I stated I am here now, where is the truck? I asked, who is in queue next to pick up the truck? She stated nobody but I cant give you a truck because we cancelled you in the system. I asked where is the truck now? She replied, we dont have one. I was like huh? I requested to speak to the manager (Customer service Rep#2) The manager came and said sorry we cancelled your reservations. I asked why and where is the truck? She stated we dont have one. I emphasized, if I was here exactly at 6am what would you do since you dont have a truck available at this location for me to pick up? She said I would of called other home depots, but since you are late we cant really accommodate you. Poor customer service on their part! The entire ordeal confused me. I have reservations and you cancelled but dont have a truck available to pick up. I told the manager, your system is broken and doesn't make sense. The moral of the story. Home depot dont have any trucks available but decided to turn it on me for being 45 mins late on my reservation, clearly explained that I have an 1hr grace period. But yet they dont have anybody else in queue? This absolutely does not make sense, moronic! If they would of said Im sorry, we dont have any trucks available regardless if you came on time. I would of accepted that reason since things happen. But Geez, to put it on me is Blasphemy! So most important, they were not being truthful about the entire situation. I give everyone an -F for failure to reason on Rental Trucks. They can improve and be professional by just telling the truth. I ended up walking out in disgust! Customer service 1=Kris, she requires to be retrained. She has a bad attitude. She thought she was all that too. Smh Customer Service #2 -Manager. Amaya. She tried calling other stores to see if they had box trucks. No luck.. she just wasted my time. She was untruthful about home depot box truck availability= 0 Customer Service #3, did not mention her in the feedback until now = Tati, kept on butting in like she knew everything when I was speaking to the manager. She needs to slow her role and just stay quiet. She is not a manager. I would not recommend this place to rent home depot box trucks. They are unprofessional and incompetent. Its easy to make reservations but even easier to cancel a reservation. Do not trust this place, I warn you. They will screw you over on the day of pick up. This ordeal was unacceptable!

I was just at this point, when our dryer decided to up and stop working. NOOOOO. Even worse? We were right in the middle of moving to a new place. What to do, what to do? Only one answer in a time like this: Yelp. Alas, turns out yelpers in LB haven't had much need for dryer repair or cheap dryers, so I turned to the default answer number two: Craiglist. Buying appliances on Craigslist is risky business, but when I came across someone who looked like they ran a relatively legitimate business, i gave them a call and chatted with the most charmingly grumpy old man ever: James. Ah, James. He'll tell you what's what, and he won't beat around the bush. And he'll tell you just what he thinks of the city of Long Beach, and how he still busts his balls working after 30 years in business. And, finally, he'll tell you if your dryer is worth repairing. My wasn't, but I was in luck - he has a warehouse chock FULL of dryers he repaired himself. Now, this may sound shady, but I'm pretty sure it's fully legit. Mostly relatively late model dryers for $150-$200(he's also got refrigerators and some washers - not sure 'bout the price on those). Other folks on CL sell dryers for the same price, but I tell you what, they don't come with the one year James warranty, no siree. The dryer was delivered and installed the same day, and works like a charm all for just about $200. ...next time I'm wearing *real clothes* and not a dingy old KROQ shirt, I've got grumpy ol' James to thank.

    On the phone James said he had the appropriate part I was looking for in stock. Horrible is a…read moregenerous way to describe his customer service but I was in a bind so I went to pick up the part. When I got there he changed the price from the originally quoted $35 to $50. $35 was already overpaying for the part as it's MSRP was $23.99. Although I direly needed the part this was the last straw and I walked out. American Appliance is a complete joke. Don't waste your time or money dealing with him.
