I'd like to start off by saying I've been going to Array since 2015. Every experience has been great up until today. My best friend and I are from Ogden so it's a bit of a drive for us to head to Salt lake for a hair cut. I've been to Array before and loved it. Not only did they butcher my friends hair, they didn't cut it at all like how she asked! My hair cut started off great, I was super excited to cut my hair and get that new me feeling. As the stylist cut my hair she seemed to get very bored of me, I tried to keep the conversation going but she wasn't feeling it. Towards the end I wanted her to style my hair because of course I wanted to look cute with my new due. I asked her if she would do some Beach waves for me and she basically didn't want to??? She stated she had another customer waiting??? I can understand the fact you have other clients but I was still her customer and was paying her for her services. I wouldn't have cared if it cost extra but she wasn't even interested! I Felt so disappointed in the whole experience. As soon as I got off her seat she didn't even say good bye or thanks for coming in? Nothing was said to me. My poor friend walked out with the worst hair cut! Not only did she chop all of her hair off but she left little hairs behind on her neck... we asked her if she could clean that up and she ended up cutting her neck with the clippers??!!! A "professional" doesn't cut your neck with the clippers. Don't think we'll ever be going back there. read more

My husband's previous hairstylist moved and that resulted in no haircuts for a year. Although he looked amazing with the longer shag, he decided it was time for a cut but was nervous on who to go to. My stylist is amazing.....but does not do men's cuts. To the interwebs I go! After a quick search on who does the best men's cuts and styles in Salt Lake City, Array Salon came up as number one and after reading numerous reviews on multiple sites, I knew Tonni would be my choice to cut the hubs hair. I have to say the hubs was impressed. Such a great atmosphere with a polite staff. The hubs said Tonni was AWESOME and he loves his hairstyle....more importantly I love his hairstyle. Went in last week for a much needed cut and color. They squeezed me in and Bryan was so great. I'm the worst girl. This is my first review on Yelp but I had to share my wonderful experience at the Array Salon. I was in town for a work meeting and I wanted to have my hair blown out and styled. I arrived into town and called Array Salon and they were able to accommodate me in less than an hour for an appointment. Bryan the owner , offered me a cold Diet Coke , which was very needed after a day of traveling. Bryan washed my hair and did one of the best blow outs I have ever had. My hair looked great for two days and I didn't have to mess with my hair and it saved me a lot of time. I also loved all the quality products he used in my hair. I called to see if there was availability Saturday morning for a haircut, and luckily they did have a stylist available. The receptionist Hailey was friendly and remembered me calling in when I walked into the salon. Madison was my hair stylist and she a great job cutting and keeping me aware of everything she was doing. She was so sweet to talk to the entire time, and since I was just visiting SLC she gave me great recommendations of things to do while we chatted. I'd recommend her for a cut without hesitation. The haircut was priced at $39 with Madison which I think is an excellent value for shampoo, cut, blow dry and she add some curls! read more

I have extremely curly hair and am very careful about who cuts and colors it. That being said- I just moved to Salt Lake from California and hadn't found a stylist yet and I wanted to do some serious color. I met Tonni at my restaurant job and loved her hair and her color so much and was lucky to learn that she's a stylist. I made an appointment with her to go from dark brown to an ashy blonde. I was blown away after just one appointment. She is very talented, knowledgable and works quickly. She's also pretty entertaining Elliott was training with her that day as well and he is great too. Tonni is great. This is literally the first time I've had a haircut that I was completely happy with when I walked out. I get "radical" haircuts for a woman here in Utah, meaning mohawks, buzz cuts, etc. and it is impossible to find a hairstylist who know how to do hair like that on a woman. After so many disastrous haircuts in Provo/Orem, I've been doing my own buzz cuts or waiting til I go visit family on the East coast to get my hair cut, but now that I've found Tonni and Array Salon, no more! All of the people there that I encountered were really nice and friendly. !!! Tonni didn't pressure me to buy their product, beyond letting me know what she used on my hair. I made an appointment for me and my friend for her birthday - they were flexible to work with that would accommodate our busy schedules! They treat their clients like queens (or kings) and offer refreshments upon walking in. I saw Karrah for a trim and fixed up my bangs - she is an amazing stylist! My hair feels so hydrated and clean. The quality of 'Array Salon' is NOT good anymore. The worst experience I had there in my life! You pay $60 just for haircut for the stylist Brian but his assistant Ashley (not his wife Ashley) wash your hair bad, Then, your hair cut with layers done by stylist in 5 to 8 minutes really fast. Then Brian and the assistant both dry and style your hair pulling both sides of your head. Weird! I wanted to run away from the salon! Waste of money and time and leave the salon with really bad feeling. I will not go back to this Salon again. read more

Upon looking at all of the 5-star reviews I was excited for my cut at Array Salon. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as wonderful as I expected. I did think the salon had a good "vibe" and the trees and cool wood cabinets at each station gave the place a really great look. I liked that part a lot.... The rest was unimpressive. Although I'm in my mid-40's, I still consider myself somewhat "hip" and extremely open-minded. I am from Seattle and am very comfortable around all types of people and get along with everyone. That being said, there is a certain level of professionalism that is expected when you pay to have a service provided. I feel that it's okay for the customer to share (or sometimes most likely "over share") with their hair stylist, nail tech, massage therapist, etc. However, I don't believe that the professional providing the service should be the one "oversharing". I felt, for a first time visit, the stylist gave me a little bit "TMI" about her life and just overall wasn't as professional as I would have liked. I think dropping an "f-bomb" as well as a few other curse words during a conversation with a first time client is just unprofessional. Also, regarding the actual cut and style I received, I wasn't impressed. The cut was mediocre at best, but the thing that really made me think "Really? This place had ALL 5-star Yelp ratings???" was when I left the salon with my hair not even styled and it was still DAMP! I have SUPER short hair.... so drying it should be pretty much the easiest part. I told her that I had a lot of natural curl that I like to play up, so when she got out the diffuser, it didn't surprise me; however, when she was done "drying" my diffused hair, it was a mass of curls and looked HORRIBLE. I was certain she was then going to continue styling it by putting in some product and then using an actual blow dryer to finish drying it completely. NOPE. The diffuser was put away, a little bit of some lame product was put in that made it look exactly the same, and then she was done. I was seriously embarrassed to even walk across the street to the parking garage to get my car. It was not a good look....at all. Now, some of you might be saying "well you should have said something".....and maybe you're right. However, it was clear to me that the stylist had no clue the look I needed, so I just wanted to go home, and try to do some damage control. I knew I wouldn't be back, and I wasn't interested in spending more time in Array Salon. I would not recommend this salon to anyone I like....... read more

Paid around $200 for balayage. Worth every penny! The stylists are all so kind and welcoming. The salon itself is so edgy and modern. I will definitely be coming back. The stylist knew exactly what I wanted. I showed her a photo and she made my hair look 10 times better than the photo. I'm not sure what shampoo they used but it made my hair SO soft. read more

It's a neat looking place and it has a pretty good atmosphere. I (19-year-old female) had been growing out my short, barber-cut hair for about 4 or 5 months when I went in, so of course my mop was shaggy in all the wrong places. When I explained this and that I was working on growing it out, my stylist (Samantha) immediately lit up and explained what she was going to do so that I could keep growing it out and still look good. She seemed confident and everything she explained (trimming up the neck, reducing some of the bulk, etc) seemed to be exactly in line with what I was thinking, so I didn't bother to pull out any of the reference photos I had brought (she didn't ask for them, either). The experience and conversation was pleasant. I always really appreciate a stylist that is confident in their work and doesn't require TOO much hand holding. She had faced me away from the mirror, though, so I couldn't see what she was doing as she worked. She seemed a little overeager with her thinning razor and ran it fairly vigorously over all the sections of my hair, but I figured she knew what she was doing. After finishing her cutting and thinning, she turned me around for the final styling. But by then it was too late; she had cut more off than I had thought was necessary and had shaped up my hair in NOT at all the way I was looking for. At that point, it would've required cutting it all back off to fix. She ended up giving me middle-aged mom cut with flimsy bangs and chopped pieces that didn't suit my age, face, style, or personality. While my hair was pretty bulky and thick before going in, I had always liked the texture of it because it at least looked full and healthy. She had left it looking shredded. It's several weeks after the fact, and my hair still looks ragged and shaggy. I can't figure out how to style it anymore because the texture is ruined. It just never looks good, no matter how much or how little product I use in it. I had really hoped to keep growing it out, but I might have to cut it back down to the beginning just to get something that is wearable again. read more

My second time here, Maria is the stylist I use. She gives a great cut, best one I've had in many years! This last week she did my highlights with balayage, a technique where the color is painted on rather than using foils. It looks amazing and very natural, and one of the advantages is that it grows out beautifully. Really fabulous color, not easy to find a stylist who both cuts and colors so well. Last week I went in to get my hair lightened to an ash gray. This wouldn't have been a drastic change from where my color was naturally. I showed the stylist an image of what I wanted and, thinking all was taken care of I didn't ask to see a swatch of what she was going to do (and she didn't offer, I might add). Imagine my shock when the color got rinsed and my hair was a dark brown! The owner had to intervene, strip the color out, and add a glaze. In the end I ended up with chestnut brown hair instead of the ash gray I asked for. Adding insult to injury they still charged me the full price + extra color + a deep condition (which was pointless because they had to strip my hair!). Never again! read more

Situation started out awful. I went in with a picture, pretty simple to cut, and got highly ignored by the hairdresser, and other than my face area of hair, she just straight chopped the bottoms and was done. She even told me "it will be better when it's natural and not styled" admitting she did a crappy job. My hair looked HORRIBLE. Luckily the owners are nice and talented, the one fixed it for me the next day, looks pretty good now considering how butchered it got. read more
