My husband and I have visited this spa lounge a handful of times. The first time I came here, the…read moremassage therapist I had was absolutely incredible. I was in and out of sleep throughout the entire session because of how relaxing and skilled she was. That experience is the main reason we continued coming back, hoping to be matched with that therapist again. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was completely different. The therapist I received did not seem to be performing an actual massage so much as repeatedly rubbing up and down my body. At one point, she made one long stroke from my hip to my neck on the right side of my back, and I immediately felt a burning pain on the left side. I don't know exactly what happened, but it was painful and concerning, and it significantly impacted my experience. What concerns me even more are things I have learned about how this business is operated. I became aware of an employee who reportedly had documented medical conditions requiring frequent breaks. Even after providing a doctor's note, management was allegedly reluctant to accommodate those needs because breaks were said to "not fit the business model". As a business consultant, workplace culture and leadership matter to me. Based on feedback I have heard from customers and employees, I have concerns about management practices. I have heard reports of refund requests being denied even in situations involving the death of an immediate family member on the day of an appointment. I have also been told of employees being criticized by name in group chats that included additional participants. Based on my own experience and the concerns I have become aware of, I do not believe management prioritizes either customer satisfaction or employee well-being. The owner, Greg Lovato, left me with a very negative impression from the several negative reviews I have heard of this business. Greg, your sucky "management" style appears to undermine both customer loyalty and employee morale, two things that are essential for a successful business. No wonder your employees quit with no notice. Get some professional help. Hope you go kick rocks in bare feet.

This is my first Yelp review and Rooted brought me out of lurking! Let me just start with sharing that I have VERY difficult hair to cut. I have a massive amount of thin, coarse hair with a horizontal wave. My best friend is a stylist in another state and often tells me how complicated my hair is. I had an appointment for Noon today with a master stylist but something happened with the books and there was an honest mistake. My original appointment went fine, but when I got home I noticed a disconnected hairline and choppy layers and called the salon. They immediately booked me this evening with the salon's owner, Tasha. This evening Tasha, who is incredibly sweet and friendly, went above and beyond to fix my bob. Not only did she do an absolutely wonderful job but thanked me for calling and coming back in! My hair looks awesome now and I couldn't be more thrilled with the service I received. I will most definitely be back! read more

I love having my hair cut and styled by Amy. She is an expert, does amazing work, and is really fun to be around. She is really skilled at taking a rough idea and developing it into a style. She regularly guides me to the right products and shows me how to apply them. I like this salon more than any I have been to. There is always easy parking and the salon has the best and most comfortable chairs and sinks I have ever experienced. There are a lot of really well done details with the decor that make every wall and fixture pleasing to the eye especially at the stylists stations. I'm especially in love with the mirrors. The folks attending the desk are very welcoming and friendly. They make it easy to schedule appointments and I love that I get a text reminder the day before my appointment. The ambiance at Rooted Aveda is relaxing and inviting. Aesthetically, it is beautiful--modern, without being cold or austere. Amy is my hair stylist and if I could use one word to describe her, it would be "Artist." She is truly talented, listening to what you would like to do with your hair, along with offering her suggestions, for a hair style that would be flattering to the shape of your face. I love this salon! I just moved to the area and needed a change. Rooted Aveda popped up in my search so I gave it a shot and I'm so thankful that I did. The salon was very clean and stylish, all the girls there were so friendly and welcoming, and I've never been as happy with a dye job than I was leaving today. Maggie was absolutely amazing, super friendly, and worked with me to give me what I wanted in a smart and practical way. And the best part is the prices are completely competitive. I'm from CA where the color process I had done would have easily cost me $250. This was my first visit to Rooted Salon and I absolutely loved it! The space is so adorable and welcoming. I was greeted right away and even offered a drink from their menu--which was such a nice touch. The candy station was super cute, and I was surprised with a free gift for being a new customer! Went in for a simple trim and fade, and also played with the idea of bleaching my hair but was unsure what to do. I'm a redhead, and had tried blonde before, but wanted some sort of platinum look and Kenzi took care of me and MORE! I had a great experience at this new salon last week! Not only is my Aveda hair color amazing, (thanks to Amanda), the salon had a very relaxing spa environment. I really enjoyed the hand massage during my deep conditioning hair treatment. I had several staff members ask me if I would like a beverage and one even came over and plugged my phone in with a charging cable that was right at my chair. Today was the first day my daughter had her hair done in 8 months. She has been to other Aveda salons before and was in desperate need for a cut and highlight. I wanted to treat her! it seems she has been trying to delete my original review so here's a new one…read more first of all i am honored to receive the famous "hope u heal" line u reserve for all ur bad reviews. guys this is an example of her condescending tone since our original call. i also want to say that although i do think Ariana's read on the situation was spot on and perfectly articulated, i had absolutely nothing to do with it. she is a complete stranger. if i were recruiting people to leave reviews, u would have more than just one couple things in response to ur last message: - a haircut this bad should be obvious to someone claiming to be a professional. - I dont think being a loyal customer entitles me to a refund, i think a bad haircut does. - i only mention being a recurring customer to emphasize 2 things-- the way you treat loyal clients with a **good track record**, and lost revenue for a business who *themselves* stated cannot afford a refund. - I was very careful to specifically not use the word shelf and that was intentional. - Ive had big short hair, i've had two wolf cuts, & i know how to style it. I would never request a jelly or anything resembling one. ever. (not that that's what this is) - I didn't request a blow-out. I was OFFERED one. Maybe it's not something y'all should offer in the first place if u will blame clients for accepting and use it to deny refund. - I wasn't shown the back of my hair, esp. not in final form. being in front of mirrors does not change that. this is low IQ. - I nearly accepted ur "resolution" bc u gave me no other option and i was genuinely trying to work with you. but ultimately, like i tried explaining on the phone, it would not have actually solved anything for me. simple as that. - yes actually... I did leave satisfied.. bc I didn't notice? and it's almost as if... that's the whole issue ???? hello ?? i want to make it clear that although i was preparing for a chargeback, i remained very polite and still tried my best to resolve this directly with the salon. i even tried to meet her halfway by suggesting a partial refund but she was not making the same effort, and became progressively rude. It's clear we're operating from fundamentally different premises. maybe that's the root of the problem here. Your position is that there's nothing wrong with the haircut itself and that I don't know how to style it. ok, I'll bite. for the sake of argument, let's assume that's true.... It still doesn't change the fact that this is objectively not the haircut I asked for or agreed to receive. on that basis alone, I am owed a refund due to service not as described. it doesn't matter if u think u can "make it better". improving something bad doesn't make it good, just makes it less bad. if you had any ground (or documentation) to stand on, u wouldn't have lost the case. having a "policy" does not mean you can do whatever you want. There must be exceptions for certain cases when mistakes are made. and you need to have discernment to know the difference from when someone's abusing the system. but that requires competency (in your field and in life), humility, and good faith. when a customer has been wronged, the burden should never fall on them to figure out a resolution that works for the business. It should be the other way around. why do i even have to explain this. If I were in your position, I would be mortified to hear a customer had this experience. my priority would be to understand what would make the situation right for them and do everything reasonably possible to make that happen. I personally would have offered a refund AND an adjustment. But ironically, that means taking accountability... fortunately for all of us, u have proven it yourself that you have never been capable of this (just a quick search to see how you respond to every bad review on here and Google) and to assume premeditation/malice is a really disappointing take on this situation and makes zero sense. why or how on earth would i plan to have a bad haircut? but if that's what were doing, i can do the same.... maybe you offer blow-outs for plausible deniability on haircuts gone wrong? maybe i wasn't shown the back on purpose so i wouldn't notice? i agree there are no winners or losers here, because at the end of the day i'd rather have my hair than a refund. but because i was so polite throughout the situation, you took advantage and at the end basically shoo'd me away & expected no consequence. the last text message you sent me speaks for itself. even a stranger was upset for me. by the way... I reiterated my points via email, not to rehash anything, but to have it all in writing for the case :) i've attached photos of my original review from Google, KJ's response from Yelp, and Ariana's review as well because it tickles me and they threatened to take it dow.

The stylist were always really great and give me the exact haircut that I wanted. The salon is beautiful. It was just a little bit too far of a drive for me to get consistent haircuts.

This isn't my first time having my hair done by Sherry as we have followed her as she has jumped around between several salons over the last few years, but it will be the last for me, my mother and my daughter, husband and any others I would have mentioned this salon to. Please see attached image of the result from my visit this week. Absolutely nothing close to what I've wanted or ever had done. Pretty frustrating as we all know how it feels to have something go wrong with our hair as it is such a big part of our looks. But I also know that accidents and mistakes happen. But let me also include the fact that mid appointment I was told my price had increased by 30% since the last time. Not at the time of booking. Not before the first snip of scissors. Half way through the appointment so I was trapped into paying the higher price which I had not prepared for. 30% is a huge increase to drop on someone. After this visit, and once I got home and was able to truly see my hair, I reached out to have my hair fixed as it seems fair that given the $140 charge, we could work something out as I was truly disappointed with my hair. I was able to go in the following day, even thought Sherry was not happy with me. Upon arriving, it was very clear I was there just to have a simple and quick fix by applying a simple gloss over the tops of my blonde streaks, in which it will still fade into an uneven color which I will then have to be spending more money to fix again sooner than I should have to. After leaving and assuming that we are both adults, and what I thought was a good client and friend, we could just let this be and move forward with no hard feelings (all of which should have been on my end anyway), 2 days pass and I get a text that I am being dropped as a client. That I am no longer going to be able to have my haircut by the lady who has worked on my family for years and that I followed and supported from salon to salon. I can say with confidence that this was the last visit by me or any of my family as I won't support a salon that stands behind this kind of treatment towards their paying clients. As a business owner myself, clients always come first as they pay me for a service and have expectations of fair business and communication. I feel like not only did I not come first and communication was non existent, I was also treated as I did something wrong by wanting my color fixed. There are a lot of hard working people and business's out there these days that appreciate and are grateful for work, and especially dedicated clientele. Unfortunately for this salon it won't be with anyone working there moving forward. There is simply no room for overpriced, subpar services and attitudes these days.
